I have tried install both after choosing “Uninstall Only” option and “Erase…” option. Error is “Invalid File Format. Please contact the package developer.” When I browse for the install file, it keeps defaulting to “Plex Media Server.app.zip”. Tried unzipping that file however, that didn’t work either. Not sure what to try next. Thanks.
What are you trying to install on?
You’ve tagged both Mac and Synology. Where does the server run?
You’ve written DSM in the title.
You don’t use ZIP files in either Mac or Synology.
Synology uses DSM-specific SPK files (DSM 7 is different than DSM 6)
Thanks for you helpful reply, ChuckPa. I don’t usually have to mess with this stuff, so I forget things. My server does run on my Synology DS416j. I knew something was not right as I’ve installed package updates previously and they were .spk files. But I access everything from my Mac Mini. OK, so I’ve now successfully re-installed Plex in DSM 7.1.1. But I’m not seeing all my NAS content when I log into app.plex.tv. How do I get that back?
DSM 7 forced us to change the usernane.
Here’s how to do it now in DSM 7.
OK, did that. Still not seeing my own Movies, Music, etc that reside on my NAS. Only seeing standard Plex tabs like “Live TV” and " Movies & Shows" etc.
Did you click ‘More’ and see your server ?
If not, let’s have it reclaim your server.
Now open it by LAN IP address the first time.
