Are you feeding back the results to nVidia as part of their process for testing out 7.2.2 ?
sorry i was referring to the Hauppauge model and not the shield model
I will look at the logs when you have the issue and upload the zip.
I suggest you sign up for the 7.2.2 testing and feed back results to nVidia
The sign up form is linked to the web page given earlier in this thread - and i willl paste it again here https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1090943/shield-tv/shield-experience-7-2-2-test-images/1/
Yes. Got the following reply from Nvidia overnight:
āThe new update added the kernel support for the tuner but weāre having tuning problems across the US and EU tuners that weāll be working on now.ā
At least it seems that the issue is something theyāre aware of & hopefully a fix can be found soon.
Have there been any further updates from Nvidia regarding this issue?
I think Iām having this same issue with the win-tv tuner not being found.
So is this a problem with the shield firmware update?
The 7.2 NVIDIA Experience update brings in new version of the Kernel and that appears to be the reason. NVIDIA I believe are working with Hauppauge to fix
Thanks sa2000,
I have the hauppauge win-tv dual tuner but its not being recognized by the shield at all as far as I can tell. Is that how this problem manifests or is it purely an issue with plex detecting it?
The test image I have received has resolved the tuner detection issue, it also scans channels but I only enable the 5 HD channels all of which play/record correctly when selected so cannot duplicate the missing channels/channel not playing issue others are having. As a bonus the test image has a beta of the colorimetry for rec709 and rec2020 issue alot of people have been requesting for ages, it works nicely for me. If you can wait for public rollout of the update then issue should be resolved, if you cannot wait try out the test image.

The latest 7.2.2 update has fixed both the issue where the Hauppage 1590 wasnāt detected & where it wasnāt finding/tuning all channels.
However, Iām still unable to record any shows as each recording fails with the message that there was a transcoder error.
Is this something thatās wrong in my Plex settings or another known issue with the Nvidia update?
My 7.2.2 updated came through yesterday and has fixed the hauppauge tuner issues. I was able to detect the tuner run a scan and set recordings. So far so good.
Next time an update is available I will definitely think twice before updating right away though.
Starting point would be to get server debug logs to start an investigation. Normally transcoder errors for DVR would be due to timeouts or bad data packets received
Plex Media Server.log (989.0 KB)
Today Iāve checked my scheduled recordings & I have the new error message that Plex no longer has write access to the destination.
In my instance after the upgrade the wintv dual is detected and it seems to be scanning channels correctly but just a few channels are found.
Besides whenever I try scanning a different set off channels is found.
Is Plex or nVidia working on this issue too?
It was a timeout - when tuning channel 38

There would be some more logging relating to this within the Plex Tuner Service log files. That would show if it did take longer than 25 seconds to tune or whether it just hung
Is the problem specific to some channels?
(Please always attach the full logs zip file - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
Plex Logs.zip (3.1 MB)
It 's failing on all the channels Iāve tried to record on so far.
Plex Media Server.zip (3.3 MB)
This is a more recent version of the logs.
As an additional information, also the found channel simply do not start when I try to play them live with a āCannot tune channel, check antenna cableā message.
Of course the exact same antenna perfectly feeds both a TV set and SkyQ Set Top Box.
I asked on the Nvidia forum and they seems to think that this problem is fixed. It would probably be a good idea to go to their forum and tell them that there are still problems.
You can see my post and their reply here:

Hi all,
Iāve posted ont the nvidia forum too, and am afraid their reply is at least a bit optimistic.
This is in detail, and after some additional tests, what Iām experiencing:
- With 7.2.2 the device is recognized by both Shield and Plex
- If I do scanning from the Android native TV app nothing is found while Plex scanning finds some channels, but every time I do a scan (with exactly the same frequency set) the channels found are different. No repetitive behaviour, seems random.
- Plex offers 3 options for frequency set in Italy: Italy, Europe, Europe full range which should be each a superset of the other. With every set different channels are found, those found with Italy frequences are often not found with the superset and so on, there is not a āregularā or repetitive behaviour, seems random.
- Iām using a condo DVB-T antenna which reaches a 3-way splitter and the splitter feeds a TV Set, SkyQ STB and WinTV-DualHD. TV and SkyQ can find the whole range of channels and they do tune exactly the same channels while WinTV+Shield+Plex scanning is randomic, finds less channels and channels it doesnāt find can be seen at the same time on the other devices.
- Whenever Plex finds some Channels, they are shown as having the highest signal level (Green signal strength icon full).
All this considered, even imagining that the DualHD tuner is not as good as TV and SkyQ ones, I think we can be safe in excluding signal quality and level.
Also consider that before 7.2 upgrade everything was working perfectly.
In my opinion there is still something wrong with the current implementation, cannot say if from Shield FW side or Plex or both of course, but considering that before 7.2 update it was working I would make an educated guess that the problem is in the firmware or in both firmware and Plex implementation.
By the way, once a channel is found i can watch it decently by using Plex App on Android but it is not working at all from browser and IOS App, it gives a ācannot tuneā error message. This of course was working perfectly before 7.2. It seems to be related to some problems with HTTP, but still have to investigate on this.
It is the exact same problems I experience. I am from Denmark and I can add that it has the hardest time finding the free HD channels. All the free channels are HD. I do not have access to the other channels so I do not know if it has something specific to do with the HD content.
I have after it has found these channels extremely hard tuning these channels and keeping a stable signal.
When I try to use the tuner on a windows computer everything turns up perfect so the signal is fine.
