Some things to note when claiming a Plex server:
- When claiming the server, use a system on the same local network as the Synology.
- Using a private/incognito window, point the browser directly at the NAS: http://nas_ip_address:32400/web. The private window disables any ad/cookie blockers that may interfere with the claiming process.
- Do not click on the “open” button in Package Center, do not use Synology Quick Connect, a DDNS service, or a fully qualified domain name when attempting to claim the server.
- The NAS must have Internet access and be able to communicate with plex.tv hosts. If Internet access is not available, the server cannot be claimed.
Also,
- The server should use RFC-1918 addressing (an address of 192.168.x.x; 172.16.x.x to 172.16.31.x.x, or 10.x.x.x).
- If you are remote from the server, you must first establish a SSH tunnel to the server before claiming. See the One A Different Network section of Installation for details.
