Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

ITV3 and +1 are showing To Be Announced for the entirety of today.

Tv Guide : FREESAT, SM3

PMS for Mac 1.32.4.7195
Plex for Mac 1.73.1.3905
Plex for iOS 8.20

There seems to be a repeating EPG problem with one Seattle-Tacoma, Washington OTA broadcast TV channel (display channel 20.5, “PosiTV”) AND a Plex player for Mac bug that’s different from the iOS and Apple TV Plex player apps.

(BTW, in addition to the whatever regular EPG updates PMS for Mac automatically makes, I manually initiated Refresh Guide several times during the week without schedule information, likely most nights.)
.
.
Plex player > Live TV > Guide repeated display failure 8 July & 15 July 2023 for only one single OTA broadcast channel (of the 59 local channels that can be received at my house):

  • KTBWDT5 (Seattle-Tacoma, WA > display channel 20.5 (“PosiTV”) )

For perhaps one week, approximately 2 July – 8 July 2023 ~4am, the Plex player for Mac > Live TV > Guide did not display any valid schedule information, merely “Movie” repeatedly with seeming arbitrary movie-length (ie, 2, 2.5, or 3 hour) successively beginnings and endings.

.
.

8 July, and earlier if I recall correctly, the Plex player for Mac Live TV > Guide > Search was able to find schedule information for a show in the above time period:

.

I think I checked, but am not sure, that initially, the other Apple Plex player apps (ie, Apple TV & iOS) also were missing any schedule for this channel. However, on 8 July at ~4am, the iOS apps on both my iPad and iPhone did have schedule information for this channel:

Then, 9 July, there was a schedule displayed by Plex player for Mac.

Again by 15 July, and today 17 July still are, all Apple Plex player apps (ie, Apple TV, Mac, iOS) OTA Live TV > Guide were missing channel 20.5 (“PosiTV”) schedule information:

15 July Plex player for Mac:
Mac Studio Plex for Mac Missing ch 20.5 PosiTV EPG 15 Jul 2023 11-45-59pm PDT -0700

Mac Studio Plex for Mac Missing ch 20.5 PosiTV EPG 15 Jul 2023 11-18-18pm PDT -0700

.
Today 17 July, Plex player for iOS on iPhone & iPad:

.
.

(I will be sending a link to a ZIP archive containing database snapshots, settings & logs.)

ITV and ITV HD for me today (19th Jul) all the way up to 2am tomorrow.

On Freeview though.

It’s been 3 weeks and no change. Could I get an update?

Still nothing, this is beyond ridiculous of them.

For 70769 (closest major city is Baton Rouge), you have channels 33.1-33.3, but are missing 33.4 (Antenna TV). It’s actually a part of the channel block from the same broadcaster (WVLA) which transmits 33.1-33.4.

Advanced info here:
https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=print_station&facility_id=70021

tl;dr info:
Plex Server Version: 1.32.5.7328
Missing Channel Data: 33.4 (Antenna TV)
United States > Louisiana > 70769

I referred the request to Gracenote as mentioned here Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for - #1992 by sa2000

We received the following response from Gracenote:

W15DF is not currently in scope for our database.
We will get the WMNN channels added added to this lineup

I have asked Gracenote for an update as the changes for WMNN are not showing

For DVR users in Belgium and Poland, please see this new forum topic relating to lineup changes

Gracenote have updated channel 33.6 and it now correctly shows Comet

However, regarding the other channels, they have responded with the following:

WCBS 2.5, WZME 43.8 and 43.9 are currently out of scope

Gracenote appear to have added logo for some regions. eg West Midlands and East Midlands
I have added a note to say that “BBC One South HD” has no logo

Also gave gracenote link for regions BBC One West Midlands HD - Schedules

Gracenote have added channel 45.1 - This has not got picked up at our end. I have referred this to our EPG data ingestion team

Gracenote have indicated that the other 2 channels are out of scope

The .2 and .3 sub channels for KDIT are currently out of scope

I have referred the missing WHLZ-LD 19.x channels to Gracenote

The pinned topic does have a screenshot showing where you can see the Lineup name in DVR Settings Reporting Plex DVR Lineup Inaccuracies

In your case - the lineup name is “Local Broadcast Listings”

I need more details - screenshots for each 27.x and 49.x set showing which channels you are receiving and with what callsigns

Looking up RabbitEars.Info for Harrisburg market does not show the channel numbers you mention

ITV 3 (Freeview UK) is showing as ‘To Be Announced’ all day today (Mon 24/7)

The failure to save arises if the channel source in the EPG is already assigned to another channel number

Have you manually mapped any other channels ?

The issue also arises when there are duplicates in the lineup

I do see duplicates in the lineup which i am listing here - For each set, only one channel number should be enabled - please check - these should not affect channel 2 selection

You could get me debug server logs when you go through DVR settings and you get the error

Thank you for reporting this. I have referred it to our EPG data ingestion team

This makes no sense. I’m able to tune to the channels, they are transmitted from the same tower as 45.1. How could they be out of scope? Please refer back to Gracenote

Should I assume that if my message has not been quoted/replied to it is not being handled, or do you submit channels we post here without confirming? I just don’t want to keep bringing it up if it’s already been sent to them.

Also, sa2000, do you only handle this post or are you responsible for the entire Live TV support forum? The multi-epg bug post has been waiting for a response for a long time now and is preventing us from using half of our channels.

There are no other channels mapped to Channel 2. In the graphic it is mapped to the wrong channel (WDMECD - see graphic). No Channel 2 shows up in the drop down to be able to map to it (in other application that I had to subscribe to, it shows up correctly and is mapped correctly) so other application maps EPG correctly for Antietam Cable.

Plex Media Server Logs_2023-07-24_09-03-40.zip (4.7 MB)

The screenshot that is relevant is the one that gets displayed when you click on the “104 enabled” link on the left side

That would open up a DVR to EPG channel number mapping screen with the left side showing the tuner channel details and on the right side the EPG channel details

Scroll down this mapping list until you see channel 2 WDMECD on the right hand side - to see what tuner DVR channel it is mapped to already

If the wrong channel is mapped, you would need to undo that mapping by deselecting the tuner channel on the left side of the mapping screen - unticking it. That would then free up EPG channel 2 WDMECD to allow you to map it to the correct channel

This is not true. I have analyzed the logs you provided and I can see you have two DVR channels mapped to EPG channel 2:

DVR Tuner channel 2
DVR Tuner channel 24.6

If you want to have tuner channel 2 mapped to WDMECD, you need to undo the mapping for DVR tuner channel 24.6 first to free up EPG channel 2

I always confirm when I process and look into a post here. So if it has not been quoted, it could be one of two things, either I missed it or I have not got to it yet.
