Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

@TheEricWilliams The Gracenote EPG data ingestion issue has now been resolved. The issue was caused by another channel within the lineup that had its data missing.

Channel 45.1 is now in the lineup and the schedule is available

Also channel 39.9

39.9 : KFPXDT9 : HSN2
45.1 : KDITCD : Catchy Comedy

Confirmed working, thank you. Please update on channels 45.2 and 45.3 when Gracenote responds. Thank you.

Still no logo for BBC One South HD. How much longer?!?

@sa2000 EPG for ITV and Channel 4 for post code SO is showing as To be Announced from Sunday onwards.

I have just checked schedule for channel 3 - ITV1 (South Meridian) and channel 4 and the TBAs start on Saturday 26th August - which gives about 10 days of guide data. Guide data tends to be 10-14 days and the TBAs should get replaced as we go forward in time

Please do a guide refresh through DVR Settings

EPG data just showed up on the HDHomerun app for channels 4.5 Catchy and 4.6 Story. I don’t know where they get it from though.

I can see an update to the gracenote source data made at 2023-08-16T12:30:09Z UTC

Lets wait a couple of days for it to get picked up and filter down to the PMS EPG database. Maybe SiliconDust use different mechanism to get the epg data

What the…

Lineup: 55009, Cannon Falls, MN. HBC Cannon Falls (257 channels.)
ESPN(HD), channel 122. Formula 1, between Thursday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Aug. 26

The Formula 1 season continues the end of next week, so I should be well within the EPG range. I can burrow far enough ahead in the guide to see that ESPN(HD) is showing the practices, qualifying and the race itself. However, I’m not seeing anything at all listed in the DVR schedule. If I select one of the event (Netherlands race,) it appears as if it’s a completely new item. Has Gracenote fouled up the listings and created a completely new series? If that’s the case, what’s the point of a Plex Pass recording? I already know that Gracenote considers this year’s series to be a completely different show requiring a new recording schedule (that’s a problem in and of itself.) What’s to prevent Gracenote from considering any race weekend to be another new show, thus losing recordings?

Logs attached.

They’re showing up on zap2it now which I think uses gracenote data. So it shouldn’t be long. Thanks for your help.

I have raised new requests to gracenote for the remaining actions on this as it appears that adding feedback to closed cases does not get picked up and worked on

My audit shows the following remaining actions:

Region: Cambridgeshire - No BBC1 HD Regional channel in the lineup

and there are no logos for the following regional HD channels

BBC One Channel Islands HD
BBC One North East & Cumbria HD
BBC One South HD
BBC One West HD
BBC One Yorkshire & Lincolnshire HD
BBC One Yorkshire HD

Two separate TV shows are showing in the EPG data

I don’t have schedule data from the previous periods - if you send me zip of your database by PM (db download obtained through Plex Web troubleshooting screen), I can check the internal identifiers for your scheduled recordings and see if they are different from those in the current schedule

This has been referred to Gracenote. Thank you

Thank you for sending me the Plex Media Server database which helped me identify the problem and getting it fixed.

We have resolved the issue. The problem was at our end and the show “Formula 1 Racing” switched ID’s on the 11th August, We have reverted it back to the previous ID a couple of hours ago. Allowing few hours for cache to clear, an EPG Guide Refresh should find the events on the old internal show ID and the next events should appear in the existing DVR Schedule

If a scheduled recording for Formula 1 Racing was created between 11th August and 18th August, it should be deleted and recreated after an EPG Guide Refresh (in few hours time to allow for cache to clear)

Note that non-event programs such as “Formula 1: Grand Prix Sunday” would not be included in the “Formula 1 Racing” Show schedule and would need to be scheduled separately. Also pre and post race shows as well as news or talk shows related to Formula 1 are not included in the TV Show series

I can note this as resolved, with no further action on my part beyond a manual guide refresh. No new schedule entries, no schedule deletions.

As @sa2000 notes, Formula 1 Racing covers the actual track events, not news coverages surrounding the event.

Well it’s been what, eight days now and it hasn’t shown up on my guide yet. Does Plex automatically pick up gracenote changes or is there manual intervention required? There’s no emergency of course, I’m just wondering. Thanks.

Yes we do automatically pick changes - but we have had cases before where an error in the data may give rise to missing an update

I will refer this to our EPG gracenote ingestion team

OK the 4.5 and 4.6 channels are there but the guides only shows “unknown airing”. Progress, but not quite there yet.
