We noticed our local station in Boise, ID USA, KBOI-TV CBS2 (channel 2), no longer comes in on Plex or Kaffeine (Linux) on our Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD tuner.
It stopped recording DVR back around the end of July. Plex reports “Playback Error: Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.” I’ve removed and reinstalled tuner on Plex with various local zip codes, but it doesn’t help.
I found this article from the TV station dated July 26, 2024:
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — CBS2 Boise is moving to a new frequency to help improve the quality and reach of our broadcasts, soyou will need to rescan if you use digital TV or an antenna to watch our local news. […]
Our smart TV found this station no problem. What do I need to do?
502 is a Bad Gateway error - “The HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) 502 Bad Gateway server error response code indicates that the server, while acting as a gateway or proxy, received an invalid response from the upstream server”
I tried that, choosing a post code in a totally different city (Sydney instead of Melbourne), same 502 error in logs. It’s something on the Plex backend from what I can see.
Yep I gave it a test last night to see if it would work (takes me back to my Windows XP media centre days), only issues are that the logos don’t look as good (very white) and it’s only 7 days as far as I recall.
New(ish) channel EPG data is off by 3 hours. MeTV Toons was added in the area in the past couple of months, I don’t think the EPG has ever been correct.
The guide lists programs 3 hours later than they are on:
Example - Local time is 930pm, channel 40.2 is showing Underdog, but the Live TV EPG has Underdog listed at 1230am (in three hours). This is consistent for all programs.
County: USA
Postal code: 85202
Region/market: Phoenix, AZ
Version of Plex Media Server in use: 1.40.4.8679
Note: Arizona is Mountain Standard Time and is always GMT+7 (no DST).
So here in the Twin, Falls, ID market, the channel listings on Plex does not seem to match up with what is being air or miss-matched several channels due to being fed from zapit.
Example would be KSAW-LP 's 2nd sub-channel is TwinFalls6.2 (a repeater of the Boise 6.2 channel and signal). Currently, the EPG is showing as LAFF-TV, not TwinFalls6.
It also seems to be missing some of the newer channels like METVtoons as well. the market now has 59 channels, not 38. All of channel 23 & 26 are new stations that were added in the last few months or so
Lineup name: Local Broadcast Listings (38 channels)
Channel 6.2 missed matched as LAFF-TV not KSAW-LP 6.2 TwinFalls 6
The listing is missing several channels (see images from HDhomeRun below)

I’ll attach the channel line up that is showing on the HDhomeRun Flex
This is actually not a complaint. When I first started with Plex, I didn’t post much here. But several years later, I want to give a big thank you to Plex for switching to Gracenote. The guide data is so much better. I still have a Tivo and it used the Rovi EPG or whatever they became. I’m lucky if the guide data is accurate the day of recording.
Many, many thanks for switching to the much better guide data!
What the actual problem or inaccuracy is with any related screenshots
Missing EPG channels, some of them have been missing for years.
The lineup name (you’ll find the lineup name on the Live TV & DVR settings page under CHANNEL SOURCES ) - see screenshot below
-Local Broadcast Listings (95 channels)
Channel number and channel name
29.8 MeTV Toons / MeTOONS
20.8 KOXI-CD
20.9 KOXI-CD
35.2 KOXO-CD
35.3 KORS-CD
I paid quite a bit of money for Plex Pass Lifetime. 20.8, 20.9, 35.2 and 35.3 have been missing for years. Now 29.8 is a channel I’m very interested in, and it’s missing. I’m pretty ticked about it as I keep seeing posts around the web that these never get fixed and it’s pointless to report them. I noticed there is no way to actually contact Plex support, just this forum.
What the actual problem : Chaanel KJYY 29.8, MeTV Toons is missing from the line-up, and thus I can’t enable that channel. Are you going back through this thread all the way back to the time where the employee left for reported customer channel problems and including them in your reports? Just got another email saying I am supposed to following through on the threads about the missing channels yet I have done this multiple times already. I think I am the one who got the ball rolling on the employee that was no longer working on this thread in which I had to contact billing. The fact I had to contact billing is ridiculous. I find it hard to believe it takes a customer to tell a company they no longer have someone working on a critical piece of support. How many times are customers supposed to report the problem before things get fixed? This should be a wake up call for Plex to change the process of reporting technical problems and have a way for customers to actually be able to contact someone there and create support tickets. Tickets were customers can track progress. Seems these threads can be bottomless pits where problems often get thrown into and nothing gets done.
