I would think a snapshot would work as a roll back plan.
For shows that aren’t airing right now, I do a web search on when they will be back, and set a reminder in Tasks (Android whatever is similar in iOS) a week ahead to setup the recording. Right now I’m waiting a couple of days before I can schedule the next season of “The Rookie”.
I realize it’s more of a “just need to rip the bandaid off quick and get it over with situation and then re-schedule as you can and eventually you’ll be fine and better off” However, there should still be a way to import and export recording schedules. There has to be demand for a feature like this, right?
There’s a definite problem with the guide on the web app (I’m running it on Firefox).
Unknown airings galore, yet when I check the guide on the Plex Android app the guide seems fine (for tonight anyway).
Any clues as to why this is?
I really need the browser guide to work as this is where I schedule all my recordings.
Scrolling through on the Android app is a REAL chore. I mean, WHY can’t you change the day easily instead of this stop/start scrolling through all the hours of a day to reach the next one?!
The mind boggles!
edit: I’m serious this time, for my new years resolution I am just going to DITCH the Plex DVR.
It is just TOO CRAP, sorry. It is utter rubbish I’m afraid. I’ve had a year of this pish and now I’ve had quite enough thanks.
should say as well, cannot change the recording folder on the Plex Android app on Shield TV.
Not that it matters, I’m off to Channels in the new year for an easier life!
The XML is available at https://<server ip>:32400/media/subscriptions/scheduled?X-Plex-Token=<token> I’m going to do a PHP script to parse the XML and spit out plain text for each scheduled entry. You can easily get the XML by opening the web browser developer tools and then going to the Schedule page in the web app - and then looking in the network tab of the developer tools you already opened. The XML lists both scheduled and already completed recordings.
Any joy since with Ireland? I just deleted DVR here on mine and when I reinstall and scan, once I enter a postcode, I get no option to continue, regardless of pressing Enter or clicking outside of the box etc
WORKED!
When setting up my DVR, at the point of entering my postal code, initially I could not proceed. But I left that step idle for a few minutes - that is, with my postal code entered and then the option to proceed got activated. Then my guide loaded and it has all the proper OTA channels.
Hopefully this sticks!
So I’m happy we’re going back to Gracenote but does this mean that Plex won’t have the ability to do favorite channels in the future anymore? I thought the whole point of switching over to whatever we were on now was so that Plex had more customization options? Also more abilities to add features like favorite channels in the guide in the future.
Is there a spot in the forums where we should report issues with the new EPG? For example for L3C7N6 the station for Global does not appear although the scan finds the channel…41.1
Tried to record RESTLESS NATIVES last night, a film never released on Blu-Ray or HD, but was in HD on BBC SCOTLAND HD last night.
Due to this “update (I’ve) been waiting for”, it recorded in SD instead because the Freeview channel 9 is listed incorrectly as being in HD - AS I REPORTED ON THIS THREAD A WEEK AGO…
Sorry to hear that - must be terribly frustrating.
I know this is too late for that particular film, but it is worth checking for other channels that are incorrectly reporting themselves as HD (for example, every channel <100 is SD).
When recording, you can force Plex to only record from a specific channel, so you can force it to record from the 1xx channel that is HD.
Hope that helps as a workaround until this is fixed for you.
It’s too late now of course, the film is not scheduled to be repeated, so the best | can make do with is a 720p rip from iPlayer.
I’ve said it before (a lot) but it bears banging on about.
Plex DVR is a PAID FOR SERVICE.
One that is not fit for purpose. And hasn’t been in the time I’ve been using it, just over a year.
Not to mention loads of finicky little bugs in the all round Plex experience. Time shifting live TV is a hit and miss affair (example - completely frozen client on Shield TV Pro 2019 last night in the last 15 mins of The Masked Singer).
Live TV not playing in the correct frame rate.
Client bugs all round on Shield Tv Pro actually, requires a force stop or a complete restart of the Shield, been going on for months.
Again, not good enough for a paid for product. They’re too busy trying to monetise even more with the useless “free” movies and TV, without actually bothering to make sure that the core product actually works.
Just reset my channel line up again and it’s still picking up the SD channel as HD. I’ve unchecked it from the line up but it’s far from ideal is it?
You can pin a recording to a channel. I always do:
Incorrectly listing a program or a channel as HD has been an issue with every EPG I’ve tried. Some don’t even bother to differentiate HD and SD channels and programs.
I continue to have challenges w/ the DVR on QNAP. More info here, however the crux of it is that the guide will never display “today’s” shows (thinks there is an error). And further it will not record the right times if I do manage to set a show to record, nor will it display shows in the right time (again I think root caused to some time errors or mismatches of some kind that don’t make sense). I have tried multiple times to delete and replace the tuner, even changing the tuner’s IP address, but everything to no avail as it seems there is something “stuck” in there making the same failure happen every time.
I don’t think there was any overreaction here. For improvements to be made, it is important to repeatedly hear the frustration over continued poor decisions and lack of transparency on the development side. Many important features and bugs are ignored over “other” low value items/issues. I agree being positive is important, but many have been waiting for a fix on this specific issue for way too long. Many of the users of Plex code as well, and understand what it takes to make platforms changes, so we are generally understanding. That being said, there needs to be a better approach to UI/UX changes and setting strategies that reduce user frustration and are more conducive to acceptance of the platform.
Yes, I work in the industry, not as a coder and therefore do find some of the issues and in particular what I consider a lassez-faire attitude to resolving them frustrating,
