Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

I cannot tell if you are being sincere or sarcastic but, yes, EPG does stand for Electronic Program Guide.

No I was serious, My whole life is made up of Acronyms and i never assume that people know what they stand for. i know its not important but i like to know what they mean, im a little OCD about it

TV recordings have migrated correctly, the top one being a series and the bottom a movie one off, so it all seems good. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Glad I could help.

I agree acronyms are not great - they can cause so much confusion.

Confused… (I am in Seattle, zip 98155, Plex server 1.21.1.3876)

I just deleted and recreated the DVR. Everything looks the same. All my scheduled recordings and still there and still appear to be scheduled to record.

Point of possible import: I’ve only recently started using Plex. The first time I set up the DVR functionality in Plex was December 16, 2020. Is it possible that I’ve been on the new program guide the whole time?

Of concern: I do not see “Powered by Gracenote” at the bottom of the program guide.

How do I tell if I’m the new guide?

What do you see written at the bottom instead?

The new EPG (Gracenote) was introduced in Dec, 02 so, yes, you have been on the new DVR from the start.

There is nothing.

Looks like you are using the web app which does not show the “powered by” for some reason?

If you install Plex for Windows or Mac, you’ll see it.

Regardless, I believe you must be on the new version.

Okay, thank you.

I’ve now noticed that a few of my scheduled recordings are tagged with an error icon (exclamation point in yellow triangle). (Clicking or hovering over the icon does not seem to reveal any elucidating information.) These icons seem to only be visible in the “Calendar View” of upcoming recordings. Note that the “Recording Priority” pane still lists an upcoming air date for the recording.

Deleting and re-creating those particular recordings makes the error icon go away. So I guess I will do that.

Don’t know if it might be the same issue, but I had a problem with 911 Lone Star, where the season 2 premier is Monday Jan 18th, but the DVR Schedule showed No Upcoming Airings. Turns out, somehow the last two episodes of Season 1 were recorded as 1 episode and saved as Season 2 Episode 1, so Plex thinks I already had the episode scheduled for the 18th. I’m at work, so I’ll have to remove and rename that file and add it back in the correct season. Once that’s done, it should show up in the schedule. If that does not happen, I’ll check back in and let you know.

I tried that twice and it made no difference. It just would not record the show (NCIS LA) when the show had an episode on the same day as I tried to set up the recording. I was doing this to re-establish my recording schedule with the changeover to Gracenote. However, I set up the recording of PBS’s All Creatures Great and Small on the same day, which worked fine. It just happened to be at the same time as the NCIS LA, but I have a 2 channel tuner so there was no conflict in that regard. I did delete the All Creatures scheduled recording and tried to record just the NCIS LA and it still did not work for that episode. Hence, this bug seems to be show specific? I have All of the other recordings I set up look fine so far since the first appearance of those shows was on following days.

OK, so I deleted my DVR and the old scheduled recordings and added it back in this evening. It’s refilled all the EPG but when I try to re-set up to record any series recordings I had previously deleted it comes up with an error saying “There was an unexpected error. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems”

I think I can what the issue is, but I don’t know how to resolve it. The shows I’m trying to re-set up showing having a series recording when I look at it in the EPG, but they’re not showing in the scheduled recordings tab, so presumably they’re deleted from one part but not all and it’s causing a conflict when I try to add it back in.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? On Windows 10, PMS 1.21.1.3876

Thanks

Here’s an example. I was able to add in Fireman Sam and Paw Patrol, but when I try to add in The Adventures of Paddington and Sunny Bunnies it shows in the EPG as already having a scheduled recording (pic 2) but not in the scheduled recordings list (pic1), and when I try to change the scheduled recording I get message in pic4.

I find that all episodes of a show being recorded display as such in the EPG (your 2nd picture), but ones that have already been recorded don’t show in the DVR (your Pic 1).

Can you check whether you already have a that particular SxxExx in the library you are recording to?

Ah, thanks. I’ve removed all the recordings and their folders from the Plex recordings location, deleted the DVR again and added it back and now I can re-set them up. Phew! Thanks

Why do this if you already have them recorded? Are they of a lower quality or something?

I have all kids shows recorded to a specific folder which I then top and tail and put into another location (where all the main kids shows are). Channel 5’s early morning kids shows have random episodes all the time but we don’t have them all so I just let it record all episodes so I can sort and edit the ones missing and delete the rest. If I select only new episodes we’d rarely get any new recordings

I’m similar, but not the same.

I top/tail/cut but they stay in that library. My DVR is set to record “old and new”. So the library slowly fills up until I have everything. If you move the files somewhere else, the DVR will try to record it again.

I’m using the HDHomerun CONNECT 4K and the ATSC 3.0 channels recently changed (in a firmware update) to add 100 to the number. They show up unchecked when adding the DVR and Plex won’t let me assign the same guide data to the ATSC 3.0 version of the channel. Example, channel 36.1 is 136.1 (ATSC 3.0) and I should be able to use both, but I can’t select guide data for both.

Is there any way to get both the old and new ATSC 3.0 channels to be enabled share the same data?

Why are all the comments about issues in the UK? Can’t we screen by the country we are in? I am in the US, and these comments mostly don’t seem to apply, but indicate a REAL problem where the Guide doesn’t show an identifier for which Guide it is using.
