Help. I was following the instructions to switch to the new guide by dropping my existing DVR and then re-adding it. However the re-add fails. See attached view of the console output and the associated server log files. Seems to be stuck in a loop of seeing the tuner, trying to do something with it but running into an error (parsing an xml file) and repeating.
Would greatly appreciate advice from anyone but particularly Plex folks on what I should try changing/doing to overcome this problem. It would help greatly to get detailed step by step suggestions vs a general solution where if have to figure out how to execute the solution. My hope is that someone more knowledgable will be able to look at these logs and say the DVR add is failing because of X. To fix it we must do Y. To do Y follow these instructions A, B, C…
The is urgent as I exclusively use Plex as a DVR and was required to make the change because of the Guide switch over. Please help.
I’m so glad to have spent all the time removing and re-adding my recordings to have my DVR now filled with a ton of mis-identified episodes, 5 hour long recordings of what was supposed to be a 30 minute show, and shows with the date they recorded for a filename, which of course the plex scanner misidentifies or simply ignores leaving tons of (COPY 1…2…3) versions of files I need to manually find and get rid of.
Thanks a bunch plex. Much better than what we had before.
Are you deleting the whole DVR or just the Tuner? Suppose to be the whole DVR. With the oddities of the Android client have you tried using https://app.plex.tv in a browser?
Logs indicate the old information isn’t being removed from the database, if powering down in between the Delete DVR and create portion doesn’t fix you will have to edit the DB file.
I have only been using the browser app to do the work. Yes, I deleted the DVR (I didn’t know you could delete the tuner). Basically, in the browser app, choose liveDvr, which displayed the Dvr/tuner. Selected delete DVR. And yes I already tried shutting down, restarting the server and then adding the DVR but same problem.
So, how do I fix up the database on a Nvidia Shield? Where is it in the file system? Haven’t been able to connect to the shield from Windows over network to see file system since moved to a new machine. Any ideas how to get that working again?
Though drastic, would uninstalling updates to roll back to original PMS on Shield fix the db? If so are the steps just uninstall updates, add tuner, update server? Or something else?
Nevermind. This was a second Nvidia Shield that is currently a backup and hasn’t been in use recently. I wanted to test the upgrade on it before upgrading my main Shield. Turns out my cat had inadvertently pulled the tuner from the usb extension coming from the back of the Shield. Once plugging back in DVR setup went as expected and I have successfully upgraded both Shields. Thanks for looking at this.
Well I’m screwed. The scan of my Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD Tuner comes with a handful of the channels I had before.
United States
60565
WOW Chicago suburbs (supposedly 403 channels but only 47 found. It showed 171 before I deleted the DVR)
I’m having to guess what channel is what also on most of them since they don’t line up with the channel numbers for 2/3 of them. and none of the channels I actually watch are shown. like the basic ABC, NBC, CBS, ect.
Sooo not happy. Considering going back to NPVR for recordings.
Anyone else experiencing the EPG not going beyond the 23rd January? Normally with Gracenote change we’ve had 2 weeks worth of data but now it seems it’s just a little over a week. Anything on the Saturday just says To Be Announced.
Unless someone corrects me there is a problem with the existing Tivo data which may force you to change before 31st. I tried to record Pembrokeshire Murders UK ITV 21:00 hrs starting Monday 11th. The first episode recorded OK but episode 2 and 3 failed.
It failed on both my servers and I double checked the recording settings 5 minutes before it was due to record and all seemed OK. Also because I set to record new & repeat airings it tried to record Episode 2 the next day but started 30 or so minutes early so only the first half of programme was recorded. I have never had this before.
