Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

Hi sallylillian1 - How is channels on recording movies (in uk) If a movie has break in it Plex is incapable of recording the whole thing without manual intervention
I wish Plex would dump all the extra useless rubbish they have added over the years. I feel it has bloated the app and made it a bit of a dog in general usage and all this extra stuff has taken programming away from the core functionality
A core app that just does TV with EPG and the media distribution would be great
I have channels on my iPad to just watch TV and its fast and smooth, By the sound of what you say the PVR version is also good

NextPVR (also using Gracenote via SchedulesDirect) can also record Channel 5 films without issue as well. It is only Plex that seems to have the problem of not being able to handle 5min news gap in the middle of a film.

Yet more wierd behaviour, I have two recordings scheduled in the guide, but when I look in DVR Schedule they don’t show up. The progams show up “Recording Priority” list on the right side of the web UI, but both are listed as “No Upcoming Airings”, but like I say both are clearly shown in the TV channel guide and are also in the BBC’s BBC2 schedule.

It’s just as well I don’t rely on the Plex DVR because it is hopelessly unreliable and buggy, even on the few occasions when the guide data is correct.

Even stranger. If I select show HD channels only, the programs are missing from the guide, if I select all channels, then the programs show up, but the recordings are missing from DVR schedule.

Hello
I have installed my DVR configuration january 3rd. How can i check if I am on Gracenote TV guide yet? do I have to migrate or not?

Hello
how can I check if I am yet on Gracenote? I installed my dvr on january 3rd .
thank you

How can I check I am on gracenote too? I am in the UK. Did all the steps but the 5 min gap between movies is even worse. It was almost working before but now a 3 hour movie shows running for 1 hour. The console shows epg provider plex?

You used to be able to see “Powered by Gracenote” at the bottom of the guide, but that has gone since the last update of Plex for Mac/Windows.

I believe if you installed the DVR* after 02-Dec (when the new guide was announced at the top of this thread), you will be on the new guide. Here is the pertinent info.

[edit: Typo *]

I’ve used avidemux in the past but have not played with this sort of thing recently. Will look into the options you mentioned. Thanks a lot for the tips!

hola vida a mi tampoco me funciona. has conseguido arrglarlo??Saludos

thank you for the info

The inability to record a show on the same day it airs still does work for me. This morning I tried recording a show that had just started and no luck after multiple tries. If I set them up to record a day ahead it works but it does not if that show has an episode on the same day.

do you have “allow partial airings” selected?

I’ve had this problem for years (no guide info which makes recording impossible) and have spent countless hours trying to fix it. I was very excited when I saw this post. Since the change, I’ve deleted my DVR many, many times and refreshed they guide, but I’m very disappointed because NOTHING HAS CHANGED-SAME PROBLEM AS ALWAYS.

Which problem are you referring to?

The guide for OTA TV is the issue. There is either no guide info at all or each channel lists “Unknown Airing”. It makes it so I cannot actually watch the channel or record anything.

Yes quite agree, been so painful. I am lucky in Australia to have IceTV, yes costs me A$3.99 a month for a XMLTV feed, but it is great!

Agree… I am still using IceTV and have no intension of changing in the near future. Gracenote was a total disaster a while ago and appears to be a total disaster now.

The notification didn’t show up on my Plex until last week sometime, so I changed over yesterday. Unfortunately, due to the originally specified limitation of Plex, I won’t be able to schedule all of my shows as some aren’t showing up in the guide right now. It dovetails into a suggestion I made a while back that we should be able to throw into the DVR to record any show that shows up in IMDB or whatever database of media Plex uses. That way, if I remember I want to watch a movie that might now show up for a few months, I can still put it in the system and Plex will record it once the Guide finds it sometime in the future.

Attempting to add Verizon Fios for zipcode 20112 and fails to complete with the following error. Picking up significant wife agro for this issue and can’t seem to find a solution. My marriage would appreciate a prompt response with a solution to this issue. Checking the logs there is nothing of note. Other lineups from the area load find (Local Broadcast LIstings). Attempting to add only 1 channel results in the same. Rebooting the container… results in the same.
