These are “Wish Lists” in TiVo-land.
I built a new container fresh and it was able to add the Lineup. I suspect the “Delete DVR” function left some dirty tables. Is there a way this can be cleaned up without dumping the whole database?
So, a while back, I received an email just like this one, telling me if I wanted to continue using the TV guide, I would have to sign up for an IceTV subscription, does this mean I no longer need the IceTV subscription?
Correct. You can choose to keep the IceTV guide if you want, but it’s no longer required.
I tried the new Plex Gracenote EPG and found so many bugs in the epg data I switched back to Icetv which I think now for $3.99 p/m is not too bad
I don’t know if you have already got through setup - the issue with Ireland post codes was resolved a few days ago and DVR Setup should now allow you to enter a Post Code in Ireland and then select one of the available Eire lineups
Hi All
I installed the app channels both server and client
I have tested for a week - and wow its what Plex needs to attain to - its pretty great so far
As a test I recorded the same movies on the various channels that often have breaks half way through the movie
I used Plex and Channels at the same time to record the same movie
Channels had zero issue with movie breaks
Plex only recorded the first part
Plex and Channels use the same Gracenote provider
My recollection of history prior to the change of providers from Gracenote to Tivo recording a movie was not an issue - guide said “powered by Gracenote”
Then Tivo was introduced and the instantly the issue appeared - guide said “powered by Plex”
Gracenote reintroduced recently and movie recording still an issue - Guide says “powered by Plex”
UK PVR boxes such as Tivo (UK virgin PVR), Humax Freeview PVR, Freesat PVR have no issue recording thes movies
Apps such as TVHeadend, NextPVR, Channels have no issues in recording these movies
What is Plex doing to the EPG data to cause this issue as clearly the Gracenote and Tivo provided data to other providers works fine
So the only common failure as far as I can see is how Plex implement the data in their own EPG - If it were a fault with Gracenote or Tivo all the other companies would also have the issue
“Powered by Plex” seems to me to be the problem
There must be some coding/translation that Plex does to cause the issue
Again as always I am sorry to rant but It is so frustrating when something like this works everywhere else but not in Plex
Please can we have a fix
Yep, that’s my recollection as well.
Agreed.
Also agreed.
Plex has gone very quiet - they are not good communicators.
The first effort last December looked really promising but nothing has changed/improved since. I feel like we’ve been here before…
I really, really want Plex to be the complete package, but history as taught me not to waste my life waiting for it and having to:
- Check every recording daily
- Report every error, but lose a recording each time
- Wait for a solution that may never come (or take 18 months to come).
…especially when there are perfectly acceptable and reliable EPG/DVR alternatives.
Agreed… Surely it can’t be that hard to program a few lines of code that:-
If the same film is on within a short period of time, then clearly this means there is a short break in the film. They don’t repeat films again that quickly. Continue to record to the end of that schedule.
Simples!
Oh, they do… it’s not uncommon for a cable channel in the US to run a ‘marathon’ of a particular movie, and play it 2, or 12, times in a row.
Well you will have a very long film recorded… but will fix my issue here in the UK ![]()
FWIW, Sony Movies (UK) is showing ‘The Graduate’ on Friday at 9pm. This has the five minute ‘news’ break in the middle.
Without me doing anything, the whole film is being recorded - screenshot attached.
When I schedule the recording, it doesn’t show anything special (in fact it looks like it is just recording the first part - 55mins etc), but in the guide, it looks like the whole thing.
Yep… that is how it always looks and then Plex thinks you already have the film recorded, so doesn’t record the second half!
I believe it it will only record the 1st part. You need to manually extend the “minutes after end” to capture the 2nd part.
This has been done. Post Codes are no longer case sensitive
Oh! I had no idea it had been fixed
Thanks for posting here. Will give it a try in a few hours and fingers crossed that all is good
Thanks both - its the first time I’ve seen it, so wasn’t sure if it would work.
Thanks a lot!
Apparently there is provision for this function in the CRID reference spec I posted about in this thread (post 341 I think)
But seemingly not so simples! to implement - But I live in hope that it will be soon ![]()
Well, I still can’t setup a recording for a show that airs on the same day I try to set up the recording. Even though these are not shows that have already started I can’t record just a single show that hasn’t started or that has started (partial recording checked). Furthermore I had accidentally set up 3 recordings at the same time and I did not get any warning of the conflict when I did. I removed the conflict and only one of the two remaining shows would show as to be recorded. When I tried deleted and re-added it to record still no luck. I can’t be the only one having this problem?
