I don’t see the extra 001 mapping for channel 10 in the drop down list.
How do you get that? What postcode did you enter?
I’m using HDHomeRun as well.

I have the same issue, but can’t seem to find a HD version of channel 10 for 001 or 015.
Did you manage to fix this or just use the standard (SD) version of the channel?
Very well said JCHH. I’m 27 months in now myself. The TV/DVR interface has hardly changed. Flexibility in the scheduling ability has not changed. No manual recordings even though everyone knows how needed that is. Being able to watch something while it’s still recording is still a coin toss.
Using the Plex DVR just causes unnecessary stress for something that should be simple. While I’ve paid for the DVR (it was the main reason for getting my lifetime plex pass), I’ve given up and use something else that’s far more reliable (and completely free). I’ve just had to accept that the plex pass was a total waste of money.
Completely understand your frustration @MovieWiz - I also purchased the Lifetime Plex Pass purely for the DVR feature and it sucked!
Also out of frustration, I bit the bullet and unwillingly spent the AUD$400 on a HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO (4 tuner) to replace my 2 Hauppauge twin USB tuners.
6 months later I can say the Plex DVR experience has been much better specially with the recent update to the guide - it looks great with all the posters for the shows but there are still some bugs which Plex devs will hopefully iron out over the next few months.
In my opinion, Plex should select the most compatible tuners, test the crap out of them, brand them as Plex and sell them directly to Plex Pass members at minimal mark up - thats just how I would do it.
Another change I made was to purchase an external 1TB SSD connected directly to the Shield rather than my NAS just because USB3/SSD is a bit more responsive than gigabit LAN/NAS specially when recording 4 HD channels and watching one then skipping back and forward.
Additionally the SSD doubles up as storage for Plex Server library (now 160GB).
As a last check, I made sure my antenna/booster/cable are perfect signal strength/quality (best to get a professional to check it).
Now with the recent TV guide update and all of the above changes, there is not much to fault. All SD/HD/Radio channels scan perfectly, only didn’t match 1 channel automatically to guide which you can do manually.
And yes there is still the occasional crash and a few bugs like:
So as frustrating as all of this has been, I think we have to give Plex devs a bit of credit to get this going on an international scale with various broadcast technologies like in the US, various hardware, tuners, guides and platforms it’s a huge task to take on and in my opinion its getting there (slowly).
Hope some of this information helps.
Tivo had the lineup for the complex where I live - Gracenote does not! How can I get our lineup added?
My frustration took me the the other way. Rather than getting caught up in the Plex hardware/EPG blame game that appears to never end, I found a free DVR program that works fantastic on the hardware that I have. The Hauppauge QuadHD has been a great tuner and I have a pretty strong PC as well.
The problems have been completely with the Plex DVR software itself. Basically every time I’ve tried it in the last 27 months, there is always something huge that is broken on either the server side or client side (for me, Android and Windows). The android app has been a bit of an abomination for the past 18 months.
I take the Plex DVR software completely out of the equation and my NextPVR software records directly into my Plex library folder. With this approach, I rely only the core Plex streaming capabilities which have been more reliable – again, still lots of android problems though. I can watch programs that are still recording and it’s a heck of a lot more reliable than Plex has ever been when watching a live recording.
Don’t get me wrong. I do want the Plex DVR to work. There are other features built into the DVR software that I would like. But the core DVR functionality just isn’t there.
Care to share so others can benefit? …personally, I am using NextPVR right now as my EPG/DVR.
Switched to NextPVR also, combined with XMLTV EPG data. Works great, luckily i didn’t purchase a life time pass…
Yeah, sorry, not keeping it a secret – just don’t want to be promoting other software all the time on a plex forum. I’ve also been using NextPVR almost two years now. I love it. I just record directly into plex library folder. Still watch in plex. Can watch programs that are still recording too. Not the crap shoot that it always is when trying to use Live TV/DVR on one of the Plex clients. Android has been particularly bad.
Plex looks really bad when you compare the core DVR functionalities. With NextPVR, we get
And it’s completely free – although, if you use it, you really should make a donation/contribution
There are obviously features that NextPVR does not have. But with PLEX, if you don’t have the core DVR functionality, then you don’t have a DVR. With Plex, there has always been something major wrong or broken (either server side or client side) over the past 27 months.
I do want Plex to work. I’d really like the commercial skip feature. But it really seems like PLEX doesn’t care about getting the basic nuts and bolts working correctly.
I’m the same for both comments.
I am also using Plex’s EPG on a 2nd server (as a trial) but there are still errors and Plex has gone very quiet since launching it. I worry these will not get fixed - meanwhile NextPVR is almost flawless.
Do you use the Schedules Direct EPG? If so, how is it?
I get my EPG by generating XMLTV using zap2xml. It’s been a very reliable EPG. Good detail, new episodes are almost always marked correctly and shows other useful info like original air date.
So for me, it’s completely free. No regular costs whatsoever. And I find sub really helpful. Obviously I try to be as accurate as possible when making suggestions or reporting suspected problems so that I don’t waste his/her time. What he/she has accomplished is really remarkable.
Are any of my fellow UK Freeview Plexers seeing the the following problems with some of the ITV +1 channels being totally incorrect compared to their non +1 counterparts?
Today - 22:00 to 00:30:
Compared to the non +1 channels:
In summary the following is being seen:
It has been like this for about 4 weeks now and means that if Plex cannot record on the non +1 channels because of a conflict for example, then the repeat an hour later is typically missed as well
I reported the problem via the online form on the 4th January - as I thought best to leave it over the holiday period given that folk may not be working - but given that it is now the 21st and things haven’t changed I have started to wonder if it is only my system.
Yeah seeing this as well. Only just noticed this.
“Less than ideal” doesn’t BEGIN to cover this. I’m only here because my entire DVR schedule went blank and I started losing recordings.
Unfortunately zap2xml is no longer maintained, and the web page http://zap2xml.awardspace.info/ is gone.

You can still find it on the internet archive (sort of a time machine for the internet). From what I remember, if you google around for zap2xml, you will eventually find a forum post (I think on NextPVR site) that points to the internet archive link. Zap2Xml still works.
I used to use MC2XML (very similar) as it also works on a Mac. Unfortunately, it stopped working when I moved to Big Sur.
While I agree this could have been implemented better, I did receive both an email and a notification in Plex web app that these changes were coming, and those messages included links describing what would need to be done.
I’m having another problem with the Live TV/EPG since the latest update. Every few days it seems to deselect all channels available on HDHR which makes it unable to record anything saying the channel was not available. It’s happened three times in the last week. I can delete the DVR, add it in as a new HDHR DVR, scan and then it updates the EPG and shows the upcoming recordings can now be recorded. It seems to be fine for a day or two but then it goes again. It’s made my Plex DVR completely unreliable and I’ve been having to use Emby as a back up DVR. It’s not a HDHR issue as Emby has no problems, nor the HDHR app itself.
