Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

My first test appears to be using Gracenote. As I’m running on a test server I will delete the DVR and retry a few times afterwards.

yep, that;s working. Two ways to immediately know (if you are in* the UK):

  • Horror still doesn’t map…
  • the default choice is “local broadcast listings”

[edit: typos*]

The easiest way to identify if you’re pulling Gracenote lineups is if your lineup listings show a channel count in parenthesis, e.g. Local Broadcast Listings (126). Unfortunately our launch window coincided with Gracenote’s migration to their new lineups API and channel maps are currently missing the “region” that’s typically appended to the listings, e.g. Local Broadcast - Anchorage .

It depends where you are. For those of us in the UK the following are tell tale signs:

  • On the initial guide options screen after entering a postcode - the various lines up contain the number of channels in brackets after the line up name. For example Local Broadcast Listing (148 Channels).
  • The line ups listed on this screen are also different to the Tivo based guide. For example Local Broadcast Listing with Gracenote but Freeview Central (West) OTA Broadcast with Tivo.
  • Currently channels 57 (ITV Be +1) and channel 68 (Horror) on Freeview are mapped to 97 and 70 respectively. - This will be fixed by Gracenote when they have caught up with the Freeview channel changes.
  • Some channels have updated icons (ITV and ITV +1 are now colourful whereas some have darker and unreadable icons).
  • Some programmes that didn’t have Series and Episode data (such as neighbours on Channel 5) do now have that with Gracenote.
  • Sony Movies and Sony Movies Action have intermissions half way through movies with Gracenote (Only the ITV and Channel 5 based channels had this with the Tivo guide - this will hopefully be fixed at some point through so don’t rely on it.

Ok that makes sense. I have Gracenote. Still bug issues with Gogglebox setting up to record only new episodes and it wants to record all old ones as well. But I guess the New tag was mentioned in the release notes.

Having seem some recent positive entries on here, I deleted my DVR (4th time today), re-scanned but unfortunately, none of the post codes I am using now work so I can’t get past that screen. I’m therefore stuck with no DVR. Not a great outcome I’m afraid and I must question how much this was tested before the opening post on this thread was added. I feel a little bit misled now if I’m honest.

Update - the post code works if you don’t click out of the box. It ain’t easy this stuff is it?

I shall take your 4 sir and raise you 6

Fortunately I set up a VM for the beta test a couple of weeks ago so I have been able to assist in the forums a little today by deleting my DVR and setting it back up again without affecting my production DVR.

In summary I tried a couple of times this morning (At first I received the Tivo data, the second the Gracenote data) then when others were reporting issues after lunch I deleted it again (received Tivo data) and again (received Tivo data again).

Since @cire12 posted about the issue being fixed I have been repeatedly testing it to see how stable things are and have just finished another 6 tests (I think I’m going to stop now!).

So it looks like the ghost container was the issue and all seems well to me

A much better Epg and most of the posters are filled and are in portrait mode unlike previously. Just a couple missing posters on well know shows in Whats on and in Browse there are at least half a dozen. A marked improvement, thank you.

We’ve identified an issue with posters (unfortunately affecting some of the most popular series) but the good news is it should be resolved over the coming days, so things will be getting even better!

@KnightOrc postal codes for The Netherlands should be resolved, try again by typing in the full number/letter combination.

Strange thing, they are present in the WebOS app v5.5.1 but not on a MacOS server v1.21.0.3711-b509cc236 or PfMac v1.24.0.1483-714cba36

Even got a poster with Tracy Grimshaw! Watch out dodgy tradies!

So Gracenote EPG data now populating for Cambridge CB postcode. Only need the first part of the postcode IE: CB24. And has to be in capitals

Unfortunately Gracenote still does not fix the fundamental issue with the EPG regarding Plex inability to record Movies with breaks half way through as mentioned in one of the first posts
Tried recording 2 movies on Sony channel and only recorded the first half of each movie
C5 “hang em high” is set to record but only 70 mins. I will see what it actually records but my first test on movies with breaks is not great
I recall this was not an issue with the previous Gracenote implementation

My most major complaint with the original TiVo EPG change and the reason I stopped using Plex for recording movies was this issue

So maybe it’s not a TiVo/Gracenote issue but more of the way Plex implements the guide data ?

Hopefully this is a temporary glitch ?

I will carry on using tvheadend to set up and record movies. Which has no issue recording the whole movie

Disappointed so far :frowning:

Indeed, it’s working here now too!

How / where do we report errors with the Gracenote data? BBC First HD (Holland) doesn’t have episode numbers for Midsomer Murders, only airing date, also labels part1 and part2 the same, so only one part will record by default

Other than that everything so far looks great!

Showed a pic of the many shows that have a 5 min break
Just for info TVHeadend on my synology NAS, My freeview and freesat boxes from Humax have no issue in recording the full program
