Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

Yep! More time wasted on irrelevant features instead of fixing the mountain of bugs with core functionality.

I just update the Plex server and now it doesn’t recognize any italian CAP, so the TV guide doesn’t work and there is a bad assignments of the channels…
Can anyone fix this please?
thanks

But those 41 channels are just open broadcast channels or public television channels, there are not a single paying channels. That’s completely useless!

What tuner are you using?

What I’ve been using for years, xteve. Since the change it was working, bad, because many channels were wrong, but at least I could show around 80 from 205 channels (I don’t like sports so I don’t really mind not to get all the channels), but now it just shows the open airings, letting aside the paying channels.
I can use an open xmltv as I said, but then it arises more problems: now I cannot schedule TV Shows and everything is treated like a movie, so if I want to record a tv show, I need to schedule each and every episode and it doesn’t records on TV Shows, but on Movies… but I guess this is another issue. I just want the old and good EPG back which was working pretty decently … :’(

Does anyone else feel that we are just talking amongst ourselves here?

It feels to me that no-one from Plex is on this thread anymore and none of the problems I have identified have been acknowledged and fixed.

I also get no feedback from raising these issues on the official form (and those problems are also not addressed).

agh, OK, got it.

That behavior is very typical of plex developers when a problem arises.

They see for sure a thread where with 500 messages in two months, but they do like ostriches, they hide their heads when something is not going well instead of trying to help their customers. And perhaps some dev or plex staff timidly will answer a non-related question instead of getting to the whole point of the thread, and the whole point is, is one of plex staff is looking this, the latest EPG upgrade is completely borked, and left many of your customers without LiveTV and DVR service, and it should be rolled back as soon as possible. And obviously don’t release any “upgrade” without extensively testing before if the former method was working!

Probably, someday one of them will pass by here and will tell us something useless or rude, like they are preparing some super mega cool features that nobody will use but drains all their time, or that if you don’t like plex, don’t use it or something like that.

Or they will simply ignore us for years.

What a mess this plex. :rage:
In Italy (Milan) some channels are not available.
Some have different names and logos.
But since you have been carrying these problems for many months, wouldn’t it be better to be able to disable the epg and edit the channel list manually?
And on the subject of registration: could it not be possible to insert the hourly option from/to?

I have submitted the entire current youSee lineup to GN for correction based on @caztor’s ticket submission. Our experience has typically been that non-US pay tv lineups take the longest to resolve as Gracenote requires that they’re able to confirm the accuracy of the change request with the provider directly. Unfortunately they’re not always quick to respond.

So far the tickets that have been submitted for Italy are all variations of “too many missing channel to list” or “the whole lineup is wrong” with no URL for an official lineup provided. That kind of feedback is not actionable, we have to be very specific when we file our requests with Gracenote.

@cire12 Any updates on Portugal? I’ve tried multiple guides and none work, the one it auto-detects has all the channels in the right place, with a few missing and some radio stations being mapped as a different channel.

Edit: if you need users to give you a list of channels for a specific provider just ask, we would be more than pleased to do so if it means this gets fixed quicker.

Very clear, thanks.
What kind of information do you need?
If I can be of any help …

I know there’s a post somewhere that details the process for submitting a ticket, but for simplicity sake I’ll re-post the form link here. Filling out this form as completely as possible is the only way to ensure that a case can be forwarded on to Gracenote for resolution. In the case that a few channels are missing, or incorrect, be as detailed as possible in the “List of Inaccuracies” section and make sure you include a link to the providers online version of their channel lineup. In the even that an entire lineup is missing I don’t expect anyone to recreate the entire lineup in this section, simply noting that the lineup is missing is acceptable, but again please provide a link to an online source for the lineup in question.

On that note, I have received a ticket submissions from @Victor_Guerra and @Renatoncellos, that simply say “missing or empty EPG” for the Vodafon provider, but no one has provided a link to an actual lineup. I did receive a link that showed what channels were in which package, but I can’t infer a lineup from that. If you can track down a source then opening a ticket with that information included would be extremely helpful.

Any update on the Movie break issue? Sorry to pester but it’s been an issue since June 2019.

Just sent some information on that form, hope it helps!

something like (not real example):

Country: Italy
Post code: xxxxxx
Channel: 001 “The pretend channel”
Date: 2021-01-30
Time: 14:30
EPG says: “show name” - SxxExx - “wrong title”
Should be: “show name” - SyyEyy - “correct title”

…only need to give one example per error type.

I spoke to @Cire12 on this only yesterday. They are working on a fix. The EPG is technically correct and Plex needs to implement a bit of code to recognise the break and remove it from the EPG (after ingestion).

Thanks. Any timescale given?

I posted spec for the CRID and EPG info on how to implement this earlier in this thread - There are many documents on the internet which deal with this issue so it would be great if Plex finally get a handle on it
