Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

From looking at my listings I think those changes have been made for me where applicable… Those changes are a little misleading as some of those channels are only broadcast in the Manchester area only. eg. Now 70s, Now 90s and possibly the Country Music channel… Not sure why they get more bandwidth use compared to the rest of us mind.

For the rest of us those channels are pushed out over IP on one channel (271). Something my tuner doesn’t appear to be able to pick up, let alone Plex supporting guide data. http://www.channelbox.tv/

I can’t really give you good feedback on the quality of the metadata, as so few shows are being recorded right now that we don’t have much coverage. Still, we get 8-10 episodes of various shows recorded per week, and the information about them has been correct as best I can tell.

heheheehe - don’t tell me they’ve launched a Point of Sale system that no-one asked for

So depressing seeing the latest server update is all gaming fixes.

They can’t even fix core features like search, recording films with a news programme in the middle.

Kids channel YAAAS! doesn’t appear, Local TV? forget it!, TCC has no data except for “TCC” in 4 hour blocks (to be fair HDHomeRun can only manage that too, despite Freeview claiming that it does show programs sometimes!) although why it’s displaying an icon for Together TV is a mystery! For me (Yorkshire) there are none of the 5 available BBC local radio stations, but there is BBC Stoke - which we can’t get!, the whole thing is a complete mess. At least they’ve finally managed to find Drama+1 which was missing last time i checked but any attempt to tune in to a live channel still gives “Playback Error”.

I must say that I’m really disappointed at Plex and to answer the subject of this post:
-No this was not the update I have been waiting for.

Ever since this update, me and my wife have had issues recording our shows as the guide is all messed up. Half of the channels just inform us the program will be “released shortly” (https://imgur.com/a/tUIeiVf Julkaistaan pian → Released shortly). How on earth are you supposed to make recording rules?

Also the new guide source (“DVR—Suomi (laajennettu) (275 channels)”) has the channels all messed up (at least here in Finland - https://imgur.com/a/ep0MIIC the handwritten is the correct channel number) and as there is no sorting available it makes it really annoying to browse the channels.

It seems like Plex does not care. I have filed a bug report regarding this issue last month and have not heard from them since. Is there anything that can be done or should I just migrate into an other platform?

Latest update and we can where all the Plex programming time is spent :frowning:
Yet the forum threads for gaming is relative quiet compared to the PVR threads !
Im now using Channels for 90% of my PVR and TV stuff - It just works - But u need to subscribe
Looking at NextPVR as my more long term move away from Plex as I do not want to pay a subscription - The whole point of purchasing Plex in the first place was to get away from subscription TV

Not a single PVR issue fixed

NextPVR works well, but you’ll need a subscription to Gracenote for the EPG. It’s something like $25/year so not bad.

Hi
I have pulled off EPG OTA with NextPVR and get a pretty comprehensive EPG Guide completely for free
Its even colour coded to the type of show  which is a nice touch. I need to do some testing to see if it suits my needs

This is an absolute nonsense. I’ve never seen such disregard for customers - even incompetent businesses I’ve dealt with do at least try to keep you informed. I’ve never experienced complete silence - it is truly bizarre,

Maybe I should add a mildly offensive word to flush a moderator out - would that help at all?

The new GUIDE data is very very very bad.

Multiple channels have almost non-existing data, and so I cannot really use the PVR funcktionality, which I have been using to detect and delete commercials but after the change to the new provider, everything is screwed. This is not OK PLEX. I’m very glad that I don’t have a lifetime pass.

Glad to see another finn trying to use this. I was very frustrated too at how messed up all the channel mappings are with the new list and even tvheadend has the proper EPG data compared to Plex which is gathered from over the air.

Please PLEX let US use the over the air EPG data if we so choose without having to screw around with the xml.

WHERE ARE YOU PLEX PEOPLE???

LMAO, this is NOT “the update you’ve been waiting for”!

It’s a pile of pish!

And NO-ONE gives a flying fudge about all the issues we are having.

Can’t even timeshift TV on Android now because recent updates cause the beginning of the recording to loop over and over and over and… well you get the picture (even though I now can’t). Not that I really want to anyway, lest it jumps TO THE END OF THE RECORDING and spoils it lol - I’ve resorted to manually playing in progress recordings in Kodi and jumping in and out of the directory when I catch up after ads - a PITA, but you know something, IT WORKS!! LOL, unlike YOUR PRODUCT!

USELESS!

Useless since the first time I used it and still useless now.

ANYONE READING?!?! Anyone THINKING of paying for this buggy POS?

DON’T - again, my personal experience with this horrendous software. The ONLY thing it is good for is remembering what you want to watch next from device to device. That’s it pretty much, everything else has some bug or another, usually long term issues that are never addressed satisfactorily.

If anyone is interested I can list all the things that are buggy and/or missing from the basic service that I’ve noticed over the 18 months I’ve paid for this rubbish. All the while they just want to monetise the product more and more, just look at the last server update changelog - WHERE ARE THE FIXES?!?!?

Now, I’m no noob, I troubleshoot I.T. for a living, i.e. to make money, and I’ve been doing it a looooong time. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am racking my brain to come up with another product that is so full of flaws and where the developers make seemingly little to no effort to address them…

Again, RUBBISH…

Hey guys…

before starting to bash anybody.
Can you please start your posts by stating, which country you are in, which channels are not working or whatever other problem you have.

For me, the new EPG is better than the old one - by far.

Going back to the original post from @cire12, I wonder if he might provide us with an update on the close working with Gracenote and the resolution of issues raised since then. I’m particularly keen on resolution of the 19 month old “movie break” issue and I know I must bore people of asking but until I actually get an answer from Plex, I will continue to post for an answer.

I would say over 50% of the movies I record are affected and I see two resolutions - either fix the issue or allow recording of the two “halves” independently. Showing it as a successful scheduling when it isn’t is clearly not at all helpful.

I’ve been talking about the problems I’ve been having ad nauseum lol, I’m certainly not going to be parroting and repeating myself every time I post a follow up post - I already do that by having to post about the SAME ISSUES again and again and again!

Hi Andyeu26, looking at cire12 activity it is clear he is on annual leave or has left Plex. 30th January was his last post. So for now lets cut him some slack and direct it further up the food chain.

cheers

All my previous communications have been at “Plex” - that hasn’t helped so I thought I’d try the thread starter.

Formerly, you instructed “Man, take a deep breath, do you hope it’s going to get better? Report your issues and drop the narcissism.”

Nothing has happened since then so I therefore apologise for the offence I am clearly causing you but if you have nothing helpful to add other than to tell me how I should post, feel free to stay out of the conversation.

If @cire12 has indeed moved on, he can tell me that himself I guess or delete his account.

The funny thing I do not have an issue with my EPG as I live on the other side of the planet and really lucky. The last provider did not even offer a EPG service at all.
As for narcissism your displaying it well enough. I was just pointing out why there might be no replies. So I need not hold my breath as you now know. I do hope this issue is resolved soon, like many others.

Fair enough @se56, a narcissist might want to argue with your view, I shall merely ignore it and request an update as per my earlier post

I would be grateful, like many others on here, for an update from “whomever” at Plex feels responsible for giving updates.
