Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

I have referred the +1 channels issue to Gracenote.
Channels
057 ITVBPFV (ITVBe +1 )
058 ITV3P1F (ITV3 Freeview +1)
059 ITV4PF (ITV4 +1 )

FYI There is currently a suspected Plex Web caching bug where when selecting HD Only, SD channels also show up. But on hitting F5 Browser Refresh - the HD Only will then correctly only display channels that have the isHD attribute set to 1

Thanks. Probably obvious but if they are added, they are channels that will need the split movies fix applied

Plex Web 4.54.5 appears to address the no guide data with HD issue:

Also PMS 1.22.2.4282 (beta channel) incorporates Plex Web 4.54.5

There is still a caching issue to get fixed - but a browser refresh resolves it

Of those only ITV4 + 1 needs to be added - original list of channels here

If we find ITV3 and ITV Be have split movies then they would get added together with the +1 channels

I will araange for ITV4 + 1 to be included in the split movies fix

Cheers - I’ve just tested an F5 refresh in 4.54.5, after applying the filter, and can confirm that only those channels that have isHD set to 1 show.

However, that is only temporary - changing the filter back to All channels then reapplying HD channels only shows the problem again (well until a refresh is performed).

Do we know when the ‘isHD’ is going to be fixed for those stations that are SD?

Thankfully for me I don’t really watch those stations so I have just disabled them, but for others, it might be a bit annoying.

These have already been referred to Gracenote. I do not know how soon they will get fixed

50 - The Jewellery Channel (not HD)
56 - Smithsonian Channel HD (not HD, and channel name should not show HD)
64 - Free Sports (not HD)
80 - Blaze +1 (not HD)

Thanks @sa2000

I am looking into Finland lineups

What is your post code?
Is it OTA or Cable?
If cable, who is the provider?

The Suomi (laajennettu) (275 channels) lineup which translates to “Finland (extended)” is a generic country lineup and it seems to be alpha-sorted on channel names - which suggest that the channel numbers will probably change making manual channel matching not workable. I have raised this as an issue

Hello @sa2000

Hope you are doing well and thank you for your reply.

My postal code is 11130 and Elisa is my Cable provider. Below you can find images of my DVR Setup and Channels that are not providing guide data (Nelonen, Jim, Liv, Hero).

Thank you for raising an issue for the mixed channel numbers. Hopefully we can sort these issues as they are still effecting me and by the looks of it also other people from Finland.

I didnt get a response, so I went ahead and submitted the error again.

The issue is episodes of ‘THIS OLD HOUSE’ and ‘ASK THIS OLD HOUSE’ are not being flagged as NEW. I did a little digging and could not find any other guides that were correct either. No one is flagging the episodes as new, so this may not specifically be a plex/gracenote issues. Do I need to contact the show itself, or PBS to get it fixed? Thanks.

@jothro I’m seeing the same thing, no EPG providers are flagging these as new, which typically indicates that the channel is not submitting these as new. It would be up to PBS to resolve this issue, but I’m not even sure how you’d go about getting to the right person.

Ok thank you for the response!

I emailed PBS - we shall see.

I certainly did not mean to imply any blame on your end. the NEW flags stopped working around the same time as the guide change so I assumed it was a gracenote issue.

I’m also affected by this; specifically, I’m unable to automatically record only new airings of “This Old House” and “Ask This Old House” because they’re not tagged as new. Some of us reported a similar (the same?) issue with the “This Old House” shows last Spring, for the old provider. @sa2000 was able to work with them to eventually tag new airings:

Perhaps the old provider found a workaround or was able to source the new status in some other manner? For now, I just manually select the new airings to record, when I can remember to  .

For completeness sake, my local PBS station is SCETV or UNCTV (ZIP 29615).

Regarding Vodafone Cable TV in Germany, I received a response from Gracenote that Vodafone cable in Germany is covered by Giga and Horizon lineups

Bayern - Giga TV
Berlin - Giga TV
Brandenburg - Giga TV
Bremen - Giga TV
Hamburg - Giga TV
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Giga TV
Niedersachsen - Giga TV
Rheinland-Pfalz - Giga TV
Saarland - Giga TV
Sachsen - Giga TV
Sachsen-Anhalt - Giga TV
Schleswig-Holstein - Giga TV
Thüringen - Giga TV

and for Vodafone’s takeover of Unitymedia, lineups have been renamed to:

Baden-Württemberg - Horizon TV
Hessen - Horizon TV
Nordrhein-Westfalen - Horizon TV

Please could you look into using these and let me know if there are issues - please also complete a DVR EPG Feedback form

Further to the dialogue relating to Vodafone Cable in Germany and Giga, the following is a list of lineups I received from Gracenote:

Bayern - Giga TV
Berlin - Giga TV
Brandenburg - Giga TV
Bremen - Giga TV
Hamburg - Giga TV
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Giga TV
Niedersachsen - Giga TV
Rheinland-Pfalz - Giga TV
Saarland - Giga TV
Sachsen - Giga TV
Sachsen-Anhalt - Giga TV
Schleswig-Holstein - Giga TV
Thüringen - Giga TV

And for vodafone’s takeover of Unitymedia, the lineups are now

Baden-Württemberg - Horizon TV
Hessen - Horizon TV
Nordrhein-Westfalen - Horizon TV

I would expect that it would be easier to match channels using one of these lineups rather than the general extended lineup for Germany - Deutschland (erweitert)

I suggest any anomalies / omissions get raised on a DVR EPG Feedback form

Bates Motel BBC1 HD and BBC 1
2 Episodes back to back
Show on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning every week
Plex only recorded Episode 1 first week and Episode 3 the next week
Failed to record Episode 2 which followed Episode 1
Same problem next week with Episode 4 not recorded
(I have channels running on a different tuner it recorded all 4 correctly so thankfully I have not missed episodes 2,4)
Guide has both episodes as due to record in EPG but fails to record the 2nd, 4th and presumably the 6th which is on next week

Could you get me server logs covering the time when the recordings were supposed to be happening - with debug logging enabled beforehand
