Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

the weird thing here is that it was working about 4 or 5 releases ago so something has clearly changed during an update. Either Plex has changed something their end or Gracenote have stopped tagging their programme listings as HD and now only tagging the channels and Plex’s assumption is if it isnt tagged as HD then it must be SD

Mine is mostly back apart from a few that have an issue with the current program on that channel. See 102,104, 106 and 111.

106 is not technically airing until 7pm, but would usually say ‘This is BBC Four’ as per the SD version at channel 9.

Ironically some of those SD channels, that shouldn’t be there, then show “Unknown Airing” when the HD filter is applied but not when All is selected:

That’s strange, I’m guessing we are on different postcodes but I have different Non HD channels showing in my HD filter. In my case those channels are definitely marked incorrectly under DVR setup → ‘manage channels’.

I’m CV23, however, the above screenshot is from Plex Web 4.54.4 which seems to introduce a new bug showing quite a number of SD channels when you filter HD only :frowning:

Channels 050, 056 , 064 and 080 show when HD only is applied in Plex Web 4.54.4 (plex.tv), Plex Web 4.51.3 (local server), Plex for Windows and presumably Plex for Mac. I believe this is because Gracenote have incorrectly identified these as HD channels. This problem didn’t exist with the Tivo supplied data but the issue is yet to be acknowledged by anyone from Plex - I’m hoping it will be fixed as part of the other HD channel fixes

On top of that my tuner isn’t picking up certain channels - including FreeSports, Now 70s and Now 80s to name a few. I’m not sure how I fix that - I’ve bought a new aerial but I’ve not got round to fitting it yet.

Pushing this up again - don’t think anyone responded. @cire12 do you have any advice?

Specifically I reported some programming was not being tagged as NEW. I reported back in January and have not seen it fixed yet. Let me know if I need to resubmit the issue again. Thanks!

@captain_caveman2k Just a quick sanity check here looking at what Gracenote has defined for CV23, this is what I believe to be correct/incorrect. Is anyone seeing any issues with channels besides these? If so provide your post code.

50 - The Jewellery Channel (isHd=“1”) INCORRECT?
56 - Smithsonian Channel HD (isHd=“1”) correct?
64 - Free Sports (isHd=“1”) INCORRECT?
80 - Blaze +1 (isHd=“1”) INCORRECT?
112 - QVC Beauty HD (isHd=“0”) INCORRECT?

Edit: It looks like GN is wildly incorrect on channel 56, not only did they tag it improperly with HD, they’re pulling the full HD channel name which seems to be incorrect. 56 is NOT an HD channel, yeah?

This website may help. Basically anything below channel 100 isn’t HD. Not everything above 100 is HD but this website will give you all the HD channels…

…and this is true for the whole of the UK

Further to the replies from @gunnersboy and @JCHH the data in that list should be as follows:

50 - The Jewellery Channel (isHd=“0”)
56 - Smithsonian Channel (isHd=“0”)
64 - Free Sports (isHd=“0”)
80 - Blaze +1 (isHd=“0”)
112 - QVC Beauty HD (isHd=“1”)

Yep - The name for channel 56 should not include HD.

This is also why we need to be able to reorder the guide. All the HD channels are stuck towards the bottom of the guide.

Or make the HD Channels Only filter work properly and be available across all Plex clients

For me that still wouldn’t be as good as having the main channels appear at the top of my guide without having the extra click to filter.

But I agree getting the functionality plex already has working reliably first and uniformity across platforms should be priority.

Hi Dave

There is now a Network 10 option in the channel settings dropdown.

However, the logo still appears as Win HD. Any possibility of a fix?

Matt

Has it ever been noted that ITV4+1 in the UK doesn’t have any guide data? Don’t think it ever has since the switch to Gracenote.

I think that is actually correct, for Freeview anyhow. I can’t speak for other platforms where I assume it broadcasts as expected. On Freeview they broadcast for 1 hour a day and I think and it is just shopping. It might be used for special broadcasts now and then, not sure. It actually irked me that the TiVo EPG data always had programs on it but there never was. I’ve just unchecked it.

I think @andyev26 is correct - here is what Freeview shows for today and tomorrow (other days are similar):

Today:

Tomorrow:

I raised it here as I had assumed that it was a proper +1 channel but it is just a placeholder like ITV3 +1 that only broadcasts what the non-timeshifted channel shows for 2 hours a day :frowning:

ITV Be +1 appears to be slightly better but still only shows actual context from 18:00 to 00:00 - cutting off any programme that runs past midnight.

As such I’ve now disabled all three channels from my line up.

Greetings PLEX support.

I have reported the EPG language error in december and again today. Report EPG Inaccuracies

When can I expect the bug to be fixed?

Can someone from Plex please tell me why is there no over the air EPG support? At least then it would work for my fellow finns too.
