I agree. In my case I’m using dizqueTV (XMLTV), for my local content, and I want to add also my HDHomerun Connect (Plex EPG), to have them on the same Guide. With the current version, I can only have one or the other, but not both together
I wouldn’t worry about this one anymore. It appears to have now been pulled after 4 months.
As @captain_caveman2k mentioned afterwards though there is a new channel, on Freeview UK, at number 236 - GB News which isn’t in the Gracenote/plex guide yet. Officially it launches TV programmes on June 13th but it is already broadcasting a signal that tuners can pick up and it can also be found in the official Freeview TV Guide.
I see that there have been a few edits to the Freeview data today:
Channel 236: GB News has now been added
GREAT movies and GREAT movies action logos have been added - as mentioned above by @shanepm.
QVC, QVC Beauty and Together TV have updated logos.
Unfortunately:
The new QVC, QVC Beauty and Together TV logos are more unreadable that the old - as such I have updated this post where I am tracking logo changes. Note: TCC has been showing a nice readable version of the Together TV logo, even though it is clearly not the TCC logo, for the last 6 months!
Channel 085 has yet to be re-added following the rename from Hochanda to Craft Store TV back in April - over 2 months ago!
Plex gets confused when using EPGs from different countries.
Server Version 1.23.2.4600 / Plex Web Version 4.58.1
If I set up Live TV with multiple tuners, pointing to different countries, each with a different country EPG. Plex gets confused and overlays together channels that are different when it tries to consolidate tuners.
Instead of using the EPG channel ID to consolidate identical channels on multiple tuners – something it does correctly when consolidating channels from the same country – when it consolidates channels from multiple countries, it apparently does so based on their respective positions in the channel listing.
Ex:
Tuner 1 / France / Local Listing / 001 TF1 (DTF1HD)
Tuner 2 / Germany / Local Listing / 001 Das Erste (ARDGRHD)
In this example, the two channels are combined into only one 001 arbitrary entry,
I assume it’s because the two listings associate both channels with string 001.
Have any of you experienced the same problems?
Have anyone managed to use guides from several countries at the same time?
I have the same issue. One guide from Spain and another from the UK. It seems to use the EPG ID rather than Tuner Channel ID which are unique when I view the channels via the channel to guide mapping screen.
Today’s release of Plex for Mac and Windows 1.33 fixes the HD filter issue in the desktop clients, however, I see that Channel 236 - GBNews is listed as a HD channel:
I note that Freeview does not list it as a HD channel on the What HD channels can I watch on Freeview? page and that the Channel Listings page shows it on the ARQ B mux which I don’t believe is HD - has Gracenote incorrectly categorised it like they did with the Smithsonian Channel?
If I bring up the Video Settings in the Plex for Tizen client, it shows 480i (MPEG2VIDEO) and if I display on screen Information the codec is shown as mpeg2video → h264 and resolution as 544 x 576 → 1024 x 576.
Are you able to provide any feedback on the following issues that I and/or others have raised, as well please, as I’ve not seen a response or fix yet?
Some content on Channel 4 HD (Channel 104) is identified as SD - reported here for a particular movie and here on the 16th and 17th April respectively. Using the guide in Plex Web or Plex for Windows and clicking today’s episode of Countdown 22/6/21 at 14:10 or A Place in the Sun 31/10/18 at 15:00 on Channel 104 shows information for the Channel 4 shows whilst clicking on A New Life in the Sun S1 E2 at 16:00 correctly shows Channel 4 HD information.
Standard definition channels recording in preference to HD channels. This was an an issue for me a while back with Battlestar Galactica recording from BBC2 rather than BBC2 HD however it happened again this weekend with Meet Joe Black recording from BBC1 West Midlands rather than BBC1 HD on the 19th June, even though I have the Prefer HD option set. I thought this was raised in this thread around the time of the filtering issue being discussed but I cannot find it now - my apologies if it hasn’t.
Channel 085 rebranded from Hochanda to Craft Store TV but removed from the guide altogether - reported here on 25th April.
New tags missing for series 2 of Batwoman (9 episodes so far as well as episode 10 on Monday at midnight) - reported online on the 2nd May and here on the 9th May - still not resolved.
New tags missing from the last 2 episodes of Taskmaster series 11 - reported here and here on the 9th May and 16th May respectively - never resolved before the series finished.
Was any progress made on the issues that I reported back in November, in the old thread, to do with issues with Live TV & DVR → Browse being possible EPG issues? You responded here but they still appear to be an issue - particularly the old airings being shown issue that can be seen in one of the screenshots from one of my most recent posts. I’m just wondering if tickets were raised or if the issues dropped off the radar.
Is there any news on the return of being able to search Live TV by actors which was previously possible with the Gracenote data prior to the switch to Tivo - I raised it here and here.
Cheers for reminding me - I remember raising it above but I kind of gave up on it as it isn’t a time shifted ITV4 per se and the Freeview guide only shows the following:
05:00 to 06:00 - Teleshopping
06:00 to 05:00 - This is ITV4 +1
I personally would like to see at least the same data as Freeview (and hopefully better information given the series and episode data that is gathered) but it appears that Plex and/or Gracenote are not too bothered about lesser used channels or (most) channels that cannot be tuned into.
For example the following channels have data in Plex but it is generic:
077 - TCC: Four hour blocks of TCC is shown.
251 - 365 Travel: Four hour blocks of 365 Travel is shown.
252 - Kiss Chat and Date: Eight hour blocks of Kiss Me TV is shown. The channel name is also incorrect.
253 - Proud Dating: Eight hour blocks of Proud Dating is shown.
264 - Vision TV: Four hour blocks of Vision TV is shown
265 - Planet Knowledge: Four hour blocks of Planet Knowledge is shown
On the contrary the Freeview guide seems to give show specific information for all of these channels with the exception of Vision TV - presumably that is a Video On Demand channel.
I appreciate that the 250 to 259 range of channels may be Internet based channels - hope I have that right - and cannot be tuned by Plex but Plex shows data for 269 - Arise News which a) cannot be tuned to either and b) ironically the Freeview guide doesn’t have specifics for.
