Plex DVR mapping seems pretty broken -

It maps some channels but not others, but when you click the drop-down it’s at the right place. However if you just click on the dropdown and then scroll away it forgets what you had picked. I clicked save and now it’s reimporting the guide so if I try to change any others it doesn’t save. I’m assuming this is a known bug, anyone know if it’s on the list to be fixed?

My educated guess is, that if channels in the underlying channel system are deleted or added (or change numbers), then Plex mapping breaks.

The symptom for that: Channels seem to be in alpabetical order in that list. And channel mapping stay okay up to a certain channel… all channels that are listed “below” that channel get unmapped.

The channel catalog should be ID based construct with the ID never changing for any channel and not a list.

In case of provider channel re-mapping/dropping/etc… only few channels would be affected and not all channels from a certain position on in that list.

I had this issue as well re-mapping for the BBC 3 return…

Try deleting the dvr and starting over.

Yep, that’s what I did in the end yesterday :+1: - definitely buggy though and could do with being sorted!

Same here, had to delete DVR and start again

I have raised a usability issue with the development team on this - as it would be quite tedious to manually map over 60 channels

Yes deleting the DVR and recreating it is the way to get round the problem

It is not often that tons of channels get moved and whilst there is a way round the problem, i do not think the issue that i raised will get priority

How can I add missing Yousee EPG?

Hi there

Try this alternative, and note it’s not related to Plex

I’ve just logged a report about some shows on BBC1 HD on UK Freeview not being marked as new. In particular Match of the day shown every Saturday at 10.30pm and also Match of the day 2 shown every Sunday at 10.30pm.

However, just having another look these aren’t the only shows affected. There seems to be quite a few. Eg. Live NFL (Superbowl) on tonight isn’t marked as new and the live viewing of the winter Olympics on BBC2 at the same time is also not marked as new.

I note that the missing HD mark on BBC Three HD has now been fixed, however, quite a bit of content (certainly everything that I looked at so far) seems to be marked as SD :frowning:

For example: The Notebook last night showed the following when I tried to record it:

Even though I had the Prefer HD setting enabled:

As such, I had to apply the work around when recording the movie (from 22:20 to 00:20) as Plex only wanted to record it from BBC Three (Channel 023):

Despite this, Plex still would not record from BBC Three HD - I checked this morning, and the movie shows up in my library as 480i in Plex for Windows and 576i in Plex HTPC.

According to the log from my HD Homerun is was recorded from BBC Three:

20220214-22:18:01 Tuner: tuner0 tuning 23 BBC THREE (t8dvbt:650MHz-4288)
20220214-22:18:01 Tuner: tuner0 streaming http to 192.168.2.50:57784
20220215-00:22:07 Tuner: tuner0 http stream ended (remote closed)

Is anyone else having simlar issues with BBC Three HD not recording content?

If I use Plex HTPC to play the channel live, and enable Playback Information the channel shows as:

Codec: h264
Resolution: 1920x1080
Bitrate: 214783.6 Mbps
FPS: 25.00
Aspect: 1.78

So all seems good with the channel. Ignoring the fact that the guide data is missing the HD tag, could the not recording on channel 109 be an EPG issue or is it likely to be a server side DVR software issue?

I’m running Plex Server v1.25.6.5545 on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS.

This is quite a common problem with the EPG when the show is marked as SD and not HD, it will only record it on the SD channel.

A problem with having HD and SD variants of the same channels .

My quick solution was to un-map all the SD variants of these channels so plex has no choice but to record the HD stream.

Thanks for reporting this

I found two Gracenote data issues

  • Channel 109 has the SDTV attribute !
  • All airings for the channel do not have the HDTV qualifier

I have referred this to Gracenote

I suspect that these would be due to incorrect data provided by the stations to Gracenote

The series information for programmes on CBeebies (Channel 202) on Freeview seems to be missing for some shows.

For example: Tomorrow (09/03/22)

  • Chuggington
  • Tish Tash
  • Peter Rabbit
  • Octonauts
  • Nick Cope’s Popcast (08:30 but 13:40 is okay)
  • Our Family Fun
  • Timmy Time

I noticed this myself as I record Timmy Time (I’m a bit of a Aardman productions fan) where the data is missing for all of my scheduled recordings over the next week:

CBeebies - Timmy Time no series data - Plex

I have cross-referenced all of the shows I listed above for tomorrow with the Freeview TV Guide and they are all good. For example:

CBeebies - Timmy Time no series data - Freeview

From an initial look on the BBC website things seem good there too.

MISSING 2 UNIMAS CHANNELS FROM THE GUIDE. CHANNEL 43.7 AND 50.6 WVEA UniMás HDTV BOTH UNIMAS. I AM ABLE TO SEE BOTH CHANNELS ON MY HDHOMERUN APP BUT THEY ARE NOT APPEARING ON THE CHANNEL GUIDE LIST ANYMORE. THE CHANNEL WAS RECENTLY CHANGED FROM A DIFFERENT OWNER OR CHANNEL. I CAN GET 50.6 EASILY. IT JUST NEED TO BE ADDED. WVEA UniMás HDTV 50.6

Need Country and Zip code used during DVR Setup and the lineup name that appears for the DVR under “CHANNEL SOURCES” in Live TV & DVR Settings on Plex Web

Thanks

Could you tell me exactly which text is wrong in the EPG
Is it this text at the show level that is wrong?
Timmy the little lamb heads off to nursery school and will have a lot to learn as he finds his place in the world

Clicking on the Show on the EPG shows

Clicking on Episode om the Feeview guide shows this

Please tell me which text in the EPG data is expected to be different and what it should be

No sorry it wasn’t the text that was wrong - it was the series information that was missing for all those shows I listed on CBeebies.

For the example you just gave:

7/27/21 (in Plex) vs Episode 57 (Freeview Guide and BBC Guide) vs Series 1 Episode 3 (BBC iPlayer and IMDB)

I appreciate for It’s Timmy Time, the information in the Freeview and BBC TV guides doesn’t match the correct information from either the BBC IPlayer website or IMDB but most of the others did have Series and Episode in the Freeview and BBC guides rather than just Episode.
