Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for

I am unable to load EPG data at all for my location (or any other I try). Totally unsure where to go to fix this

The new Quantum Leap on NBC on Monday nights is the old series. I’m kind of working around it right now, but I’m surprised no one has reported it yet. (Edit-apparently it was reported further up that didn’t come up in my browser search)

Do you need me to post my server and channel information or is that enough info needed to find and fix the problem? Not sure if whoever does the EPG info can run a script for that time slot to double-check

Yes this is what I was referring to. And when you select the drop-down on the right hand side, for 2.1 for example, you will see there are 3 different 2.1 entries in the lineup. But the mappings in your screenshot do show that you have selected the correct channels from the EPG with the KUTV set for 2.x and KKTVX set for 4.x

I think I will need debug server logs after an EPG refresh completes and the guide showing up with the unknown airings like you showed before and also a zip of the Plex Media Server EPG database files

The EPG database files have filenames starting with tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud and are in the same folder as the main database - in Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases and would be 3 files - file extensions .db, .db-wal and .db-shm

I tried to reproduce it running a PC with your timezone and time and setting up a DVR for your zip code and selecting the KUTV 2.x channels and KTVX 4.x channels and it was ok - no gaps / no unknown airings

rabbitears.info shows these channels for your Salt lake City market

In my test I had these channels mapped

giving me these channels

and the guide showed up ok

May be a network issue. I am able to see 5 lineups available for your 98115 USA zip code

If problem persists, please ensure you have debug logged enabled on the server - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
and then restart the server to get fresh log files created and go through DVR setup and when you get this error note down the time and take a screenshot and then download the server logs and attach with the screenshot and time

Thanks

I did respond to the previous post on this.

The EPG Schedule for channel 10.1 NBC for US zip code 02865 is what I checked last time and what I checked again today. It is showing the new 2022 Series of Quantum Leap and I did check the NBC Schedule on NBC Schedule and it also shows the 2022 series

This is from the EPG for channel 10.1 : WJARDT (WJARDT (WJAR-DT) Affiliate: NBC) for zip code 02865 and it does show the new series

Could you give me evidence of it being wrong.
Screenshots of the channel schedule and EPG Guide data to show the mismatch - together with zip code, lineup name (is it Local Broadcast Listings?) and channel number and title and airing time and timezone

Thanks

Here’s what I have (see screenshot). The description seems right for the new series, but the overall series is wrong and it doesn’t see the episode as “new” so I have to fix that by recording everything and not just new episodes. Then it picks up reruns of the old shows so I have to try to scope Maybe this is just cached bad data that will eventually go away.

Also, when I go to search for the show on my server I get one series that’s 5 seasons instead of two, one with 5 seasons and one in the first season that’s 6 episodes in like it should be

The zip code is 60156 and the provider is Comcast - Carpentersville. NBC HD there is channel 188. It airs at 9pm CST.

I will look into this tomorrow for your lineup - the one I checked is the NBC schedule for the OTA channel available on Local Broadcast Listings

Unknown airing in schedule for channel CKSHDT 9.1 over the air in postal code Canada J0E2K0 from 19:00 h till 22:00 h on October 24th.

“Unknown airing” happens frequently on this channel.

I cannot see what is wrong.
Looking at the Schedule for your zip code for:
channel 188 WMAQDT (WMAQDT (WMAQ-DT) Affiliate: NBC)
lineup Xfinity Algonquin/Elgin Areas (958 channels)

I see three Monday 9pm CST airings in the schedule and they are for the 2022 Quantum Leap Series and all 3 have the New indicator
Can you refresh the guide and check the guide screen

This is extract from the guide

Can you tell me what is wrong in this EPG data ?

Is the issue with some artwork being wrong ?
Is it when searching ? or is it wrong in the Guide (visible through the Live TV link on the left hand side)

It is the same actual channel as reported by @rubi35 - see my response Live TV EPG - The update you’ve been waiting for - #1565 by sa2000

Thank’s for your prompt reply, CKSHDT 9.1 is an affiliate of CBFTDT, but it would have the same tv listings. This is a recurring issue.

listing
channels

There has not been any information for four channels in two years. i thought maybe ill finally ask if you guys can get working EPG to finland too. so “julkaistaan pian” means roughly publishing soon. that has been there for couple of years and no matter what plex server version i use, no matter what postal code i give, no matter the listing, there just is no EPG information for these channels.

@taraba

Delete and recreate the scheduled recording to pick up the new media id from the EPG.

Yes, refreshing the guide data from the tuner page fixed my problem. I thought it refreshes the guide data every night or at least every few nights. Does that button on the tuner page do something else?

Hi Sa2000,

So I did a refresh of the EPG data and was able to locate the files you referenced regarding log files while doing the update. However, the EPG data files (the ones stored in /Plug-in Support/Databases/ that start with tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud) were there while the refresh was ongoing, but when the refresh completed, they were no longer there. I did this twice and had the same results. These EPG files populate while the refresh is initiated and ongoing, but are gone upon completion of the refresh.

I did observe some older EPG data files that were last updated back on Oct 13 (not Oct 25 like the ones I was hoping to ascertain). I’ve included those older EPG data files in case they may be of use because those EPG data files were changed/created during the time I’ve had issues with my Live TV/DVR guide. But perhaps maybe the issue I’m observing with the guide data is related to whatever is removing these EPG log files.

Below is the requested log file for the PMS and a zip file of the EPG files (3 total files within, but are from Oct 13, not Oct 25 due to unknown issues of the files being removed after a refresh).

2022-10-25.zip (151.7 KB)
Plex Media Server.log (340.1 KB)

If I missed anything or if I need to provide additional clarification, please let me know. Thanks.

Yes it should get refreshed daily if the Plex Media Server is running during the Scheduled Tasks period

You could get debug server logs soon after the end of the scheduled tasks period and I can check if the automatic refresh is running ok

I am sorry but Gracenote have indicated that they do not have data for a lot of the Finland channels

I will ask them again if there is any imminent change

The EPG refresh is failing with some bad data - would like to see more examples of it failing to see if always failing at same point and if only specific channels

Actually there may a hardware issue or disk errors

I noticed also these disk I/O errors reported by sqlite3

Could you do a check on the disk where the databases are
