Can not play live TV when new player is on. When channel is selectced screen shows background and spinner then eventually shows error. Error - An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.
I have tried this numerous times with no joy. Also I Have 2 Shields (2017/2019) and both experience the same issue.
Same for me. Waiting for a Statement from Plex…
I´m not sure, but in the general Android App for smartphones there is no option to change the player. Right?
If the new player is going to continue to not be working for Android TV users can you (Plex) please change the default to NOT using the new player until it is fixed or fix it.
DaveBinM said they had been passed on to the Devs but re-adding here to increase visibility. I left the Beta channel hoping that this bug would not be introduced into the public build release but unfortunately this has not been the case. For me, this error was introduced with any and all versions stating with 7.30.x.x

I restarted the server on the shield several times, restarted the shield itself but nothing. it is a week or something like that that my live tv is not working. I also tried to update both player and server from the google play server on the shield but nothing still the same problem. i also tried the player in the browser and it doesn’t work while the player on the ipad works. also i noticed the player is version 7.30, not sure how you got the version 7.31.
I am on latest Beta build 7.31 and latest beta server. No Live TV for me, just a constant “error occurred while attempting to play this video etc…” Using Nvidia Tube.
Sorry if I haven’t got to everyone’s logs yet (@Jibidibo and @MoonPie), the forums are a lot busier than normal at the moment, and I have a backlog of about 40 sets of logs to get through. I’m going as quickly as I can. Thanks for your patience
no worries just wanted to make sure you got the logs and they contained what you needed. Just a little excited about getting the new video player functioning - I had a taste of heaven now I cant wait for it all…
