Multiple issues with 1.18.1.1973

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973 (Just upgraded from 1966 and issues persist)
Player Version#: Xbox One, Xbox 360, LG TV app

1. Xbox 360 app won’t play random files. I can’t find a pattern to this. It won’t play newly recorded content from DVR (720p), and it won’t play movies (any resolution) I have had since I started using Plex 4 years ago. It loads up and sits there until it just quits out a couple minutes later. Same issue described here

2. Xbox One App: I can play content from the DVR from the beginning, but if I try to continue watching from a specific point or skip forward, it will go into a never ending buffering state. Watching the task manager on the server, the transcoder process maxes out for a few minutes after buffering starts, then dies down. The app still will not start playing.

3. All apps I have tried when starting playback of anything from the DVR, it starts 2 streams for the same content. One is direct play and the other is transcoding. I will update with a screenshot when I can replicate it, but it appears now this is occurring randomly as well.

I recommend rolling back to v1.18.0 unless you feel like troubleshooting / reporting issues a on beta release.

How do I roll back the version of Plex?

Rolling back on Windows works as follows: note down your current Plex Server software version Stop Plex Server using its tray icon. uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers. go to your Plex data folder. I hate to hijack a topic, however I have also been experiencing the duplicate stream problem. I created a topic 4 days ago, and so far no Plex bods (Moderators or Employees) have yet to take up the reins on this, which I find more than a little frustrating!

I downgraded back to 1.18.0.1944. Then nothing would play. Everything gave a “transcoder failed to start” error. Rolled back to 1.18.0.1846 and that resolved the transcoder problem. Updated back to 1.18.0.1944 to resolve the Live TV DVR pixelation problem.

The Xbox One issues are still present. The multiple stream problem is still present. I have not yet tried to play anything on the Xbox 360.

These are clearly problems not related to a Beta release.

This is my task manager more than 5 minutes after stopping a stream that was stuck buffering on Xbox One. Still trying to transcode that video.

A user on my topic rolled back as far as 1.16.5 and still has sthe duplicate stream problem! Get that !!!

Duplicate Rogue Stream

So last night i tried to add a few new songs to my music library and… its kept scanning and scanning and scanning and wouldnt stop. And ive see a few other topics about this problem to. So i uninstalled 1.18 and reinstalled 1.16.5, And … The duplicate playback is still there(ugh wtf)… And the CPU spikes are STILL HAPPENING!!.. I even restarted the host pc after the reinstall. I’ve just updated a separate instance of PMS on a different machine to 1.18.1.1973 and can confirm that the duplicate problem is still apparent.

Hi, I am also having issues with Xbox 360 running local streams on this version. Not sure how we downgrade on Mac but have never had to down grade before. Seems my other devices are accessing Plex no problem just the xbox360 that’s connected to the TV in the front room not working. Hopefully an update comes out soon to resolve this.

Can confirm that live TV is broken on 1.18.1.1973. I rolled back to 1.18.0.1994 and everything is working again.

Brilliant - just updated on Synology NAS in the HOPE that the Live TV might be fixed on the Windows app, but no, instead when my managed 4 year old toddler watches Transformers it thinks I am watching it and all his in progress stuff appears on my users deck.

Anyone else with this happening?

I’m having the whole skipping issue with the recent updates.
How do I go back to previous version when I didn’t have that problem?
I know it’s just a Plex issue because Windows Media Player & others do not do that to me.

Uninstall the current version and reinstall the older version. I do things differently and update manually rather than by using Plex to update, so my update files are in my Downloads folder. See Darcilicious’ post near the beginning of the thread,.

Me too I’m having issues with the latest update version 1.18.1.1973. I’m unable to play anything on my xbox 360. Everything was working fine with previous version 1.18.0.1944.

edit : Reverted back to 1.18.0.1944, but I’m still encountering the same issue, I can’t play anything from my xbox 360
