Maybe it would be worth paying an additional subscription to have a working and reliable system. The current system is so frustrating, and I have little confidence now in the Plex team that manages this.
I noticed that there is no more guide data after July 25. Stopped updating a couple days ago. Currently at version 1.16.0.1226 and will avoid further updates until everything has simmered down. In the meantime I’m switching to zap2xml with zap2it. See https://forums.plex.tv/t/how-to-use-zap2xml-for-plex-epg-combining-multiple-epg-sources/
It looks like Zap2it does not exist anymore, at least I cannot access their web site
That’s strange! Perhaps you have the wrong URL. I’ve been using it to source zap2xml for a week as a test, and it’s working fine.
I am trying to record the Cricket on Channel 4 in the UK tomorrow, how do I do this if it does not appear on the Underpowered by Plex EPG, no cricket for me

As you can see from the screenshot, the URLs are the same. I have also tried it vi a VPN (France) same issue. I think that I will try the HDHomeRun service and link that to Plex. It may be time to give up with Plex PVR
Yes, smarter people than me will need to explain this.
I considered the HDHomeRun service as well, at least till everything settles down, but decided to switch to the free Zap2It option once I got zap2xml working. Though I haven’t yet made it live.
Good luck!
This happens often with Rovi data. It will send null data for the last few days of the extended guide, usually on weekends and around holidays. My TiVo which is owned by rovi, currently also has null data for the 25th forward. It should fill in, in the next few days… Really 7-8 days is about all rovi data is reliable for.
But Plex has been using Gracenote up until recently. Not Rovi. I’ve been getting about 2 weeks of rolling data ever since I installed my HDHomeRun in combination with Plex DVR. It’s only now that Plex has abandoned Gracenote that I see no more updates after the 25th. Normally I will see a few new entries every day.
Exactly, no more gracenote, now everyone gets to deal with the poor rovi data service
Or use Zap2xml with Zap2It, if it’s available to you. To be clear, I haven’t updated Plex to its new EPG provider (1.16.2.+ if I remember correctly).
Hello Plex. You have just been reported to the BBB for your lack of support.
I just made the switch to ZaptoIt, will check it out over the next few days. Easier than I imagined. Seems to be loading correctly, with no mistakes in “new” categories.
Hi,
I think that I have figured out the issue with Zap2it, it is only available in the US and Canada. I can access the site if I VPN into these countries, but I cannot access it from the UK, or VPN into France, not that it would help if I could.
I have now activated the HDHomeRun DVR service, and pointed Plex at the DVR download directory. This worked immediately. The only missing element is the HDHomeRun cannot remove commercials (but this was hot and miss with Plex).
The $35 per year seems a small price to pay for a working environment. It is a shame that Plex is not able to provide a similarly effective solution.
Well done! Sorry you couldn’t access Zap2it. I just went live with it 5 minutes ago and it’s looking good. So maybe someday if you reside in the US? But I don’t recommend it at the moment. Hah-hah!
As I said I had considered HDHomeRun DVR service and will fall back to it if something goes blooey with Zap2it. Good to know it’s a trouble free solution.
@markmarz, curious if you’ve seen this. Local PBS show, Chicago Tonight. It’s on every weekday, multiple times. With the normal Plex EPG, I limit it to 11.2, and only the 10PM showing. It picks them all up.
Zaptoit, limited or not, only picks up a Monday episode. Will not populate the rest of the week no matter which I select to record.

Thanks.
Now don’t jinx it.
It’s been reliable with an older nextpvr install I have running on an old system to play around with.
Sorry, I’m only pulling my favorite channel (TCM), so I see no other channels.
