New EPG and release

Works fine for me too. @RDHoworth You have a more basic problem, like possible DNS hijacking of your network. That is a DNS error you are seeing, not a website issue.

I don’t think so. I have tried this using both the Google and Cloudflare DNS servers on two different machines PCs and from an Android on a BT network. This does work from the same PC using a VPN to the US.

Still, it does not matter as Zap2it only seems to operate in the US and Canada, and Live in the UK

For fun I added WTTW (hosting Chicago Tonight) to my favorites, both SD (ch 11) and HD (ch 191). I see it on all weeknights, not just Monday, in the lineup.

But like you, when set to record all episodes, new and repeat, only Monday appears. So for what it’s worth, you’re not alone. Note I’m pulling for Cable, you for Antenna.

Good luck!

ZAP2IT fails here also in the UK also, seems it’s only for US and Canada residents. Opted for Tvheadend with Antennas as the go between for Plex. Ah, anything for a EPG and decent EPG that’s not screwed up…

Others in this thread have reported success with the HDHomerun DVR service for $35/year. Don’t know if that works for you.

I won’t be purchasing another TV tuner, I bought 3 WinTV DualHD tuners, hence why I’m using Tvheadend under Linux…

Dave

Have you tried ipitv-epg.com

@ggrippo cheers, but as soon as I saw PayPal I gave up as a bad job! Why pay for something that we’ve already paid for? This is why I’m seeing up Tvheadend and antennas.
I’ll get a better EPG service this way from my OTA provider and it’s free!!
But many thanks for the link…

Dave

Thanks for doing this. There are enough inconsistencies with zap2it vs the native epg that it’s a tossup which I will stay with.

It’s interesting that the lineup is correct. That points to how Plex is handling the scheduling. Chicago Tonight is every week day night, except Friday if you consider the Week in Review a separate show. Maybe there’s something about that that is confusing Plex?

I wonder how well the HDHomeRun DVR service handles this. If you’re using a SD box, you might want to try their service just to see. It could be that it’s the best option of the bunch.

Not sure. The built in Plex EPG handles it ok. So on the one hand I have the built in EPG marking shows as ā€œnewā€ incorrectly, and on the Zap2It side I have have a show I actually watch simply not being setup right.

Lesser of two evils at this point is to stick with the Plex guide.

What is the impact of marking shows new incorrectly? Does it mean it picks up every instance, including repeats, because it sees everything as new? Or is it just misleading to look at?

Correct. If I just want the newest season of a show, but every episode (including re-runs) are marked as new, Plex will record all of them.

Oh well. Not good, but at least you’re getting more episodes than you want rather than less.

Yes, but it is a time waster. Need to watch the first few minutes of a show, and go damn, I saw that already!

Also, the reason that it may be marking it as ā€œNewā€ is that it isn’t grabbing the season and episode information. That was the issue I was seeing in my case.

Is there any feedback from the Plex Team as to when we can expect a fix for the missing guide information?

It seems the information from the epg sources are missing this data. I’m not sure why or how gracenote seemed to have it but it did;

This information is on every other site / guide I have looked at, including the HDHomeRun DVR, Channels DVR, and tvguide.co.uk, so the current provider must have looked hard to find a source without this, although I suspect incompetence again in not carrying out testing.

I am getting very disappointed in Plex with these and other issues. It is becoming less and less a quality product. From the forums, it is clear that a great many of us long term users are feeling very disappointing, especially with the extremely poor level of response and communication from the Plex team.
