What I was trying to point out there is that 001, 002, 003 (so the non -x variants) are still showing as regional stations rather than the national versions. Is this still a problem or should they be listed as the national variant now?
Apologies if I confused things - I’ve had plenty of coffee now
@captain_caveman2k Haha yeah, originally from the Black Country, but moved to the Valleys almost 3 years ago, not moving back now since meeting my girlfriend after splitting from the ex wife who we both get on.
@sa2000 no worries, just making sure it’s in there.
It is academic which is 001 and which is 001-1 and 001-2. When the Plex Media Server and Plex Web changes are completed and released then they will all be 001.
The 001, 002, 003 are just the first entries in the National list - they could be any variant. The “-1” suffix was added if a second entry is found in the EPG data. There is no order for these variants and the first entry could be any. In some cases eg BBC One there does not appear to be any national variant. All are regional.
The use of the National lineup should be temporary until all regional lineups are correct.
This is a comment on the support from Plex generally and @sa2000 in particular.
@sa2000 is doing a great job manning the forums and it is really appreciated.
However, Plex support in general is terrible. There is no official support, i.e. no ticket system so a paying user can track their issues and get resolutions. We are left to the forums and a form entry system and no clue as to whether the issue we’ve reported is progressing or reproduced, let along resolved.
There is no external defect/issue tracking available (which is not uncommon I should say; a company would not automatically expose this; a good company should IMO ) which also leads to huge confusion.
I am now totally confused as to whether i should be using a regional line (scotland) or a national line-up ( uk ) and manually mapping channels as previously advised. You’d only know about this manual process if you came to the forums, and only scanning through 100s of posts has led me to believe that this was a temporary workaround and we should change back to regional (is that right?) More importantly, there was no notification that we should change.
Either way, last time I checked there were issues either way (BBC2 was missing all data or STV was ITV etc)
All this would be hugely frustrating if part of a beta testing program but this is production and the DVR is impossible to use. I didn’t pay or agree to beta test your software so I have starting using a different EPG provider (thanks to @JCHH for advice here).
btw, during research, I came across many threads of people on differeing software with EPG problems; all with a common theme; Tivo or Rovi ranging back to 2016 - Contributors to this thread and others should not assume that cumulative reporting of issues with generally lead to EPG improvements - I think this will be a constant whack-a-mole situation. Just my opinion and maybe the weight of Plex users will make them improve.
I’ll check every few months to see if the Plex DVR improves in the future - shame as it was working really well.
Mine is just my Ham Radio callsign lol!! It’s the only thing I could think of. Ah, it’s going to be one of those afternoons, nothing is unusual here in the Valleys…
@iomadh Ah, confusion is becoming a special, I’ve decided to stick with the Wales OTA, but will be going live with the EPG data from Tvheadend this weekend, as initial tests have shown all data is correct and keeping updated without issues.
The real test for me is using the Hdhomerun emulator Antennas, just going that talks to both without any hiccups, I’ll keep Linux users updated if they want? Especially the UK Plex users.
FWIW, I’ve found the new EPG to be at least as good and actually probably better than gracenote for OTA in my area (USA)…which is all I use. I had plenty of (mostly small but annoying) issues with gracenote data. HD vs SD was wrong with most channels with gracenote and is closer with the new EPG etc.
@philly4 Nice to know, you should fly across the pond and see what we’re actually complaining about, as it would take to many screenshots of the EPG and mapping channels on here to show you the issues we’re having with TiVo. @sa2000 As a last chance saloon, I’ve gone against what I believe in and deleted the DVR to add the Freeview OTA Lineup complete with messy channel selections etc.
First off, as a registered blind Plex user, the OTA guide you recommended for the UK users to remap to isn’t, lets just say, not very sight impaired friendly, it’s taken me a lot longer to map 2 tuners to the 145 channels.
Second, there’s no Cardiff TV in the listing, which should be channel 8 here in South Wales and yet, there’s no mapped data for it… Is it in the Spreadsheet to be added?
I’m not adding anymore issues yet, but the list will grow, and the issues could tip TiVo over the edge!!
It seems that there are still problems with Movies that have an entertainment news update in the middle - like the Channel 5 based channels do.
Under the Gracenote data I recorded Jesse Stone: Night Passage, Jesse Stone: No Remorse and Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost. All recorded fine with the 1 minute of 5* Access in the middle after an hour.
Last night, Plex attempted to record Jesse Stone: Sea Change but only recorded the first hour.
Both parts looked like they were going to record in the guide, but the second part didn’t. Below is a screenshot of the next film in the series, Jesse Stone: Thin Ice and it too “looks” like it is going to record but I suspect it won’t - just like last night’s recording didn’t
Yes, also reported in post #303. This is hugely annoying. Happens on ITV2, ITV4 and Sony as well. For me, if this gets fixed, Recording becomes fully usable again.
@andyev26 If? Think of it as when!!
It’s Tiny Pop and Pop in this household that gets used a lot, along with the other channels mentioned. Would be a great system is it was working again, but I can’t even record from the kids channels anymore…
OK, maybe I hadn’t been paying attention recently, but I decided to look and see what was up with the EPG when I did the latest update this morning (1.16.2.1321) since that was supposed to be what it was for… and to my dismay I found what used to work well for me before is now an utter mess.
Channel listing issues:
MY EPG went from 40 some channels to 7 - and after deleting and readding the HDHomeRun Extend and a lot of fiddling, I have some of them back, but still lose 14 - including the ones I tended to watch the most.
Why? Because the only guides it is offering are Cable and Satellite - and they don’t carry some of my favorite OTA channels. So I lose Heroes and Icons, Comet, Grit, and a number of other channels.
Bugs:
Agenda View for Recordings no longer shows upcoming episodes to record even on channels I know it still can get to. If I go through the guide and look, it sees the episode I want to record this coming Friday and it’s tagged to record, but it is not in the agenda list.
Keeps losing the DVR - if I go back to try and tweak the channel guide more I can’t because it’s “lost” the tuner - I have to stop and restart the service to make it find it again.
Feature pain:
The only way to try an alternate channel guide is to delete and re-add the DVR to try and select a different channel guide.
I’m actually trying to decide if I should try out HDHomeRun’s new version of DVR to see if it would be a viable alternative to this mess. Has anyone else tried it as an alternative yet?
Or if on Linux or Mac… There is another alternative of you want to shell out for another pass… Contemplating very hard, but moving soon, and may have to drop the live TV altogether as the area of South Wales we’re moving to only receives a handful of channels… May get my life back!!!
But I’ve done a little homework and may pay £62 for a high gain TV antenna for Wenvoe Transmitter and hope I can receive it with a signal booster inline also… Else it’s stabbing TV on various Android apps on Android TV boxes!!
