…I haveNextPVR working on my Mac.
@jebrossard I ended up going with mc2xml with SchedulesDirect and configured my guide info to use XMLTV. I now have everything back to the way is used to be when Plex used Gracenote. Proper channel lineup/times and HD programming is listed. Maybe by the time my SchedulesDirect renewal is due this time next year Powered by Plex issues will be resolved.
I think most companies after this debacle would apologize, pay gracenote whatever they were wanting for another year, and use that year to fix this mess before forcing this system on us before it was working.
I pay for Plex yearly because of the DVR feature, that is the only feature I use. I have to imagine lots of people like me do the same. So it’s not like those of us are just like no big deal and not cancel, the one single reason we pay doesnt work! Sadly I guess I must start looking at the competitors again.
Are you on Windows? I was unable to get this to work on my Mac. Did you get it from http://mc2xml.awardspace.info?
J.
yes it is in the spreadsheet - in the UK lineup view
Thank you for reporting this. I can see the problem. Our new provider is strictly adhering to the schedule in this case whereas Gracenote ignored the scheduled Access 5 minute episode in the middle
I will discuss this with the team and our provider
Would be interested to have all the examples of this and channels.
I can see the problem on channel 5USA and i have data to compare to from the previous provider - the best is to find examples of recurring weekly movie that has this issue now and i will compare to what we had before
Thanks - just had your post referenced. I can see the issue and will be followed up. I am sorry but it has been really busy and there is a backlog
Thank you. I couldn’t say for all but I have it noted as an issue on ITV2, ITV4, Sony Movies and 5Star. The poster you quote suggests Channel 5 as well. There almost certainly will be others as it seems common practice.
Got a case also from Sweden TV4 channel - in that example it was a 16 minute News in middle of the movie.
What country, zip / post code / what OTA lineup have you tried? and what channels were available before on OTA/Antenna and not any more?
There is a feedback form to capture details of what is missing - you could complete that and also post here
@JCHH. I have the Windows version and downloaded it from http://mc2xml.awardspace.info.
The upcoming version of MacOS, Catalina, is going to remove 32bit support, so even if you managed to get it working, if you update your Mac this fall, mc2xml will stop working. VirtualBox or Parallels may be a way to work around it.
Maybe with the issues with the new Plex guide info, someone will develop a 2xml app that is more universal, or maybe the mc2xml developement team will update the app for current needs and OS’.
good point re 32bit, but I was hoping Plex would have solved this mess by then. If not, Plex will be in my rear view mirror anyway and I’ll be using NextPVR as my primary DVR permanently.
cheers!
Until this is fixed, it’s still possible to record the movies “semi-manually” as long as you notice the problem in advance: Record the movie but extend the recording by the appropriate number of minutes. I used this workaround for Swedish TV4 where I added something like 120 minutes extra in order to make sure I captured the entire movie, and it seems to have worked.
Hi,
I have also just downloaded mc2xml and am using Schedules Direct JSON. At first look, I can now import a 2 week guide for all the Channels in Yorkshire, UK.
I have not checked everything, but at lease Forces TV is fully loaded, and I will try some recordings over the next few days.
A 2 month subscription ($6) will at least provide Plex with time to correct this debacle.
That’s a fabulously obvious work around. Wish I’d thought of it.
I have also got tired of this and gone down the mc2xml route.
Cant understand the point of fixing something that wasn’t broken in the first place.
Seems to be a mix of “Because we can (read - unable to and not willing to carry out any form of testing) and don’t care about the user service” or “to save a little money”. Either way, this is destroying the Plex reputation.
I am mostly annoyed because I was basically forced to upgrade due to the mobile app and broke my DVR. Plex this is unacceptable a major roll out to completely jack up things. If you know the upgrade is broken then don’t force everyone to update to use the mobile app. Also I’m in the exact same situation as the initiator of this thread and only updated 2 days ago.

What is your major issue that you refer to as breaking DVR?
I don’t know about lvmickey, but the EPG is still completely broken, new episodes of programmes are not listed as such, and we’re not talking some show on a digital channel far up the EPG with a viewership of 10 people.
On BBC One right now there’s a new series of ‘Shop Well for Less’ it’s not flagged as new ‘Our Cops in the North’ right after, a new episode not flagged. Coronation Street on ITV1 a new episode not flagged, Eastenders and Emmerdale are the same. The One Show on BBC 1 not flagged as new ITV Evening News on ITV 1 not flagged as new. Casualty on BBC 1 not flagged as new, Killing Eve on BBC 1 not flagged as new.
I’ve reported some of these before using the Google Form and nothing changed.
