New EPG and release

That sounds like a similar issue to what you reported for “The Jellies” and “Aerial America”
This has been raised and it is currently with our EPG team to implement the changes needed to pick the starting year

Would like to see debug server logs of the refresh locking up - but please do wait 5 - 10 minutes before collecting diagnostics - in case it is slow and not locked up

To ensure debug logging is enabled on the server - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/

please repeat the sequence after a fresh launch of Plex Media Server
and also provide screenshots / time of the issue and what channel lineup and zip code used and which channels you believe are the cause of the problem

To get the logs zip, see https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Would like to see the Plex Media Server EPG database plus details of what lineup / zip code used during setup

See this post for info on which files are needed New EPG and release - #549 by sa2000

The temporary solution is limited. The recording schedule does not take account of adding extra minutes at the end which means that later recording might be affected as the tuner is still recording. This needs a permanent solution - it has been outstanding for a number of weeks now so it is not unreasonable to expect it to be fixed very soon.

I do not have any information to give. There is work to be done for picking up tags and actors is one of these tags

@sa2000 I’ve just done a manual update of my EPG (Freeview Anglia OTA).

Channel 4 HD data is provided only for the next 3 days (up to Wednesday). After that it’s just showing “Channel 4 Programming”.

There is currently an issue with overlapping blocks giving rise to such symptom.
The problem is more noticeable on Plex Web. Plex for iOS appears to have less impact
The problem is affecting Channel 4, E4, Channel 4 +1, E4 +1, Drama UK and 4Seven

A fix is under test at the moment and will be deployed once testing is complete

This is also seems to affect the DVR Schedule engine though - for example, on any Plex client app, Sunday’s episode of The Handmaid’s Tale is not shown in the Recording Schedule.

Will this prevent the DVR from recording, or is it just a presentational issue?

I cannot say without examining server logs before the scheduled recording is to start

Thanks for sending me the epg database. Have not found any large blocks of airings overlapping and I understand that you have not seen the issue since the time when you took this screenshot

There are a number of possible causes

  • the issue with overlaps due to not purging old entries of generic blocks of time in the guide
  • the guide needed to be refreshed manually as the automatic incremental refreshes may not be adequate to pick changes outside the normal window it operates within
  • the guide data bring not available from our provider for those channels and time bands

I suspect the problem may have been the one caused by the incremental automatic guide updates not being adequate and needed a manual full guide refresh

This appears to be an issue with what plex has chosen to display and how
In the new Mac,Windows and iOS app Plex shows movies at random and not in date/time order
My list starts with a movie for today then 1 for tomorrow then Wednesday - Scroll down a few movies todays movies show up
In the web interface via the browser these all show correctly in airing order
So I guess the issue is how Plex in the app is choosing to display the movie list - I cannot see a way of setting things like the web interface has IE By airing/Release date/Name
UK Freeview. HD Homerun tuners

Plex App upcoming movies

Plex via direct Ip address in browser

I can rule out manual refresh because I did that about 5 times that day trying to fix it. It was all day most channels that day but not all, they all said to be announced 1/1/17 like you see in the screenshot.

This best be raised on the new app with the app tag as advised in the linked topic in the banner

Thanks.

Next time this happens, please do a full manual refresh and after completion of the refresh, if the problem remains, take a screenshot and copy out the EPG database files and download logs zip and post zipped logs, zipped PG database files and the screenshot

The issue resulting in generic blocks of "xxxxx programming " due to overlapping airings has now been resolved. A full EPG refresh is needed to be run to correct the guide

do you think this fix would have prevented my issue?

Do we need to upgrade plex or just the guide?

PS. PLEASE add Sports Team Event recording!!! NFL season starts soon!!!

Is it possibly related to this problem that a show I had this issue with was “The Michael Kay Show” on YES network on FIOS in NY. Its matched now as the “The Michael Essany Show” which is wrong and Michael Kay isnt even in the database when I search with “fix match” is this related to the same issue potentially?

No upgrade needed. Just refresh the guide manually through server settings and allow it to complete the refresh

It is being worked on.

cannot say. Would need logs covering the time it was matched incorrectly

@sa2000 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news … ITV1HD and Channel4 HD both still showing “xxxx programming” from Saturday onwards, after a manual refresh. Many other channels the same from Sunday.

This is Freeview Anglia OTA.
