It has just been brought to my attention and it is a data issue and not related to the overlapping airings fix. I have referred it to our provider
Alton Brownâs Good Eats is finally returning to air with new episodes, but the listings are a little bit of a mixed bag in Plex. The show has been referred to as âGood Eats: The Return,â but it looks like itâs being listed everywhere as just the 15th season of the âGood Eats.â
I searched the listing in Plex and found the 2 new episodes listed, but one just has a date as the season and episode number and the other is listed as the 14th season.
Here is how another guide has it listed:
And here is the TVDB entry for the new, soon to be aired 15th season:
Iâll keep an eye on this and set them to manually record if I need to, but itâd be nice to just to be able to set a series record for new episodes.
TVDB is really poor for using to keep up with seasons and episodes. Just look at the mess they made with Cutthroat Kitchen.
Tivo/Rovi data is/has been inconsistent for many years now. What is fixed one week, gets screwed up again the next week or month. I give sa2000 props for attempting to get things working, but having many years experience with Tivo/Rovi data using both Dish and Tivo, it will never be consistently correct.
So far recording NFL games has been a disaster.
So if thatâs true, and what you say is consistent with other reviews Iâve read, why would PLEX knowingly inflict the guide with an inferior source when we purchased and had operational something far better? Itâs obvious by number of issues remaining and the amount of time since this mess began that the change wasnât properly vetted. Just another black eyeâŠ

@PR The âNewâ indicator issue for Coronation Street and Emmerdale and a number of other ITV shows has been addressed and fixed

It is clear that Plex is run by amateurs who do not care at all what users experience. This may be understandable for true open source organisations, but Plex do charge for their service. I am very very disappointed with the state of affairs with Plex, Not just the current state of DVR.
Just to reiterate, Plex has little to no excuse for this debacle, as there are other DVR systems that work much much better, e.g. Channels, NextPVR, Emby, HD HomeRun and many others, It is not as if this is new territory!
The whole guide issue is self inflicted and given the lack of dialog one can only assume it was to save a few dollars in the cost of the previous guide data we had and for lifetime subscribers, paid for.
Over the past year most every problem has been self inflicted by PLEX.
Agreed, but we are essentially powerless, other than to vote with our feet. This would hurt us much more than Plex, but as already stated, it is clear that they really donât care, and are, as an organisation, now self centred and incompetent. Just see the comments made in this thread by the senior members, when they can be bothered.
We already have moved on but since I own the lifetime pass I kill time watching the circus
Likewise
I have suggested many times and have not had an official response to sign a short term deal again with gracenote for maybe like an additional year and then use that year to fix this and test it with a group of real world users as beta testers and make sure its working in the most common countries/areas perfectly before flipping the switch again.
since it seems likely this was done to save money, its likely gracenote is loving this mess and wont even let them sign another deal unless its long term is my guess though.
New problem, now even though i am set to record âThe Michael Kay Showâ every day at 3pm on YES network, which worked perfectly before the switch its saying no more upcoming recordings. I check and guide shows it on, on its normal channel and time slot tomorrow. i manually added another series recording of the show thinking maybe the show ID changed or something. Well now it says its going to record it, starting MONDAY. yes its on tomorrow and the rest of the week but the system says next time its going to record it is monday.
this guide problem seems to be getting worse not better unfortunately.
EDIT: since i am sure you guys knew this change would be problematic, it would have been really nice if you added manual recording control so i can tell it to record channel X at time Y for duration Z no matter WHAT is playing. At least that could have worked around this guide problem, but since that isnt possible, the plex tv & dvr system is basically just completely broken at this point for me.
and another problem i assume is related to the guide. i manually told it to record the mets game on friday. i then went to tell it to manually reocrd the mets game on saturday and its already showing as being recorded (such a common bug with plex) and wont let me record the game even though its a new game and shows marked as ânewâ. so now i wont get to record a game i really wanted to record because i cant even manually set it.
should i send you the EPG zip file for this issue?
This was resolved in todayâs feed. Please run a manual guide refresh to pick up all the data
Thanks for this, Iâve just done a refresh and both ITV and BBC soaps are now showing as new.
Anyone else in the UK lost there regionality for ITV
I am in the Tyne Tees area and am getting ITV News London again (should be ITV News Tyne Tees)
This did get fixed, but seems broken again
Yes. I am getting this too, I am STV central but ITV news London is showing.
Some of the other problems seem to be getting sorted though, CH4 is now showing the correct programmes rather than Channel 4 programming so at least Iâll not get moaned at for bake off not recording.
Thanks, hopefully just a blip, will do a full refresh tomorrow to check
Time to see the delights of Wednesdays TV
Film4 schedule appears to be completely out. Itâs just fix, issue, fix, issue - itâs entirely unacceptable to still be in this place weeks after a switch. It suggest to me that not a momentâs planning and testing was carried out. Is it likely that the loss of service will be recompensed - itâs not unreasonable to ask given the weeks of disruption?
