New EPG and release

I scanned ALL tuners. As you should recognize, those tuners are 4 groups of two tuners spread out across 2 quad PCI Hauppauge cards, 2 tuners per each of 2 devices per each of 2 cards.

It’s really sad. My EMBY setup picked up the new station without issue. It looks like I’m going to have to delete all the tuners and start from scratch AGAIN. Another waste of my time for no added value.

I just deleted 4 tuners (2 devices) and added them back. Had to re-edit the enabled channels. Still no 4-2 to select in the guide selection. Before doing this I was able to assign 4-2 to an unused guide selection and have it show up in the guide as the unused station but it was in fact the correct station (DECADES). The problem appears to DEFINITELY be that the station is NOT in the guide data.

PLEASE double check because I don’t believe it’s been added.

PS - If I delete ALL my tuners, will I lose ALL my scheduled recordings? I think the answer is yes which is even a bigger issue to re-create everything.

I am still waiting for the server logs with debug logging enabled - captured Zip after you check the drop down for 4.2

I deleted the cache directory tv…cloud, rebooted, re-scanned, re-initialized the guide and still nothing.

Please first re-verify that the station is in the guide data and/or tell me how to perform that verification. There is too much data in the logs IMO that should not be shared.

We are in stalemate

I want to see the server logs

I want to see the DVR fixed

Do you have a secure drop set up someplace?

OK - I would like to apologize - I was running in a development environment and the channel does show up there but is not in the production environment.

Will have this looked into

Why can’t a “null station” be added to the guide pull down to be mapped into so that any station that can be received can be viewed? The guide could just display “No Guide Data Available”. It’s ridiculous that I can’t add a station to my viewing because your guide provider has no information included. What will you do with the local low power stations available in many markets?

@sa2000, any update on these stations for my area. Zip: 19002. Provider: Verizion Fios Digital Philadelphia.

611- The Weather Channel
780 - Disney
741 - TV Land
734 - IFC
699 - Freeform

It’s been a few weeks since I reported it in this forum and via the form.

Thanks!

Add to that the ability to manually set a custom timer using date and time rather than a guide listing.

I am discussing this idea with the development team

With regards to the new channel. There appears to have been a problem and work is in progress that is expected to address this as well as the reported cases of some channels disappearing from some US lineups

Work is in progress at the moment to change how data is processed and it is hoped that this will address the loss of channels.

After discussions with the team. I am raising this internally as a feature request.

You do now have the ability to match the channel manually to any lineup channel that you do not use and has no data.

With respect to your requested channel 2.4 - there was a process issue and work is in progress at the moment testing out some changes. These changes will be put in the live service once they are seen to be working

How can there be an “issue” with the addition of a nationwide network to a DMA?

What kind of guide data provider is this?

The new station, 4.2 DECADES, is in most major markets in the US. If the provider can’t even add a major station to the DMA feed then why in the heck would you use them? What a train wreck.

https://www.decades.com/schedule/

Similarly, how can these major networks disappear from a line up and not be restored immediately? This is nutty! I’m still waiting for these:
727 Weather Channel
744 IFC
783 Disney
784 Freeform
Any news on when they will be restored? They have been missing from my line-up since 10/01 (and had improper guide data from 9/15 - to 9/30 before that). Sorry for being a pain on this, but it makes no sense. Major networks in major metro areas should be easily fixed in our guides.

These problems are at our end in how the data from our provider is processed.

The loss of channels is thought to be because those channels did drop out in some regions and that affected other regions.

We are changing this process and these changes are at the moment being implemented in the development environment and will be allowed to bed down for a few days to make sure there are no adverse effects before being put into the live service.

What would cause things like the “new” tag to be missing from the guide data while Gracenote has it properly labeled? Or a rerun episode to be listed as the next new episode?

  • This Saturday on The CW channel you have Batwoman (encore of the Pilot) listed as new episode 2. I noticed because my DVR isn’t planning to record the actual new episode on Sunday. It took me a while to figure out it was because Plex thinks episode 2 first airs on Saturday.

  • Also on Saturday following Batwoman, Plex thinks the next new Supergirl is airing instead of a repeat. So Plex has not scheduled Supergirl and Batwoman to record the following Sunday when the actual new episodes will air.

  • Then on Monday a new episode of Black Lightning isn’t recording either. In this instance it is because the episode isn’t marked as new.

  • Also on Saturdays, on NBC there is a morning show called Consumer 101. It just started the new Season 2, but Plex is listing all the episodes as the next in line for season 1. (ep 27, 28, etc)

In all these instances Gracenote has the correct data. Is this a problem with Plex itself or the data provider? It’s blowing my mind that Plex is still so screwed up in comparison to Gracenote over 3 months later.

It’s per-PLEX-ing now isn’t it

Thanks for highlighting these discrepancies.

I can only investigate each of these if I start with a zip code and a lineup name and for each case, the channel number and channel name, the episode/show name, the airing time and date and the time zone

Just a suggestion but it may make more sense in the future to do the development work before releasing this kind of massive change on paying customers. It works for other Companies.

Issues recently noted for zipcode 76207 “grande clear communications dallas”:

  • 848 : “fish center” saturday 3:00 am should be an episode of “Williams Stream” with the current show title as episode title
  • 848 : “as seen on adult swim” saturday 3:15 am should also be an episode of “Williams Stream” with current show title as episode title
  • 843 : “Channel Zero” is one single show, yet seasons are showing up as distinct series. A shows subtitle should not be reflected in the guide. This makes it impossible to record future seasons as well as old seasons.
  • 863 : “American Horror Story” is one single show, yet all seasons show up with their season subtitle as part of the listing. Again, this makes recording future seasons and old seasons impossible.

Channel Zero: Candle Cove
Channel Zero: Butchers Block
Channel Zero: No End House
American Horror Story: 1984
Survivorman & Son

All of the above are using a seasons subtitle in the guide. None of them should. The shows names are “Channel Zero”, “American Horror Story”, and “Survivorman”. I’m sure there are loads more examples out there.

With the above stated, it would be nice if the library had a concept of season subtitle so it would display it there.
