@sa2000 : Here is another example like “American Horror Story: Cult”. There is no such thing as a show called “Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1”, that is an alias of one single season (S08) of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”. If you set to record all “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” you will then miss out on S08, S09, S10, and S11 if they air because each had a unique season title.
Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1S8·E5—The Creditor
Airs
Sun, Feb 2 at 4:15AM on 848 TOONHD (Cartoon Network HDTV (East))
If you look at 925 FXXHD they handle this correctly with “Archer”:
ArcherS8·E5—Archer Dreamland: Sleepers Wake
Airs
Fri, Jan 31 at 2:00AM on 925 FXXHD (FXX HDTV (East))
There is no such thing as “Archer Dreamland” that is a season title and is (somewhat) better handled in this case. At least here you select record every episode and then you actually get all of S08, S09, and S10 when they air, all of which have their own unique season subtitles.
How far out should the current ‘epg’ data cover - I figured it should cover till end of Wednesday at least right? While I have nothing past the 2nd showing up right now?? problems?? And yes I have done a manual guide update - runs nice and fast now which has me wondering if it’s doing anything at all. For the last while it’s been darn slow, but at least provided relatively valid data.
ONE BIG ISSUE iis that back in Nov/Dec time frame a few problems crept into the EPG data, such that shows got marked with the right title, but wrong episode number. That is causing alot of things to not record the first episode or two, of the winter season when they start. Since Plex thinks it’s already been recorded. Had to fix up ‘Greys Anatomy’. But I am sure I have others as well.
We are making changes in this area - similar to what has already been done for Sport and News. We will no longer attempting to match episodes at end of recordings and thus avoid losing recordings or getting multiple recordings for same episode due to changes made to episode identification after the matching
The aim is to get close to 14 days.
For the UK we get to 12-13 days max and getting replenished before it gets down to 7 days - sometimes that is not achieved in time and a few specific channels are less than that
For the US it tends to be close to 14 days.
Do you have specific info on what you are getting? I would need post code/lineup/channels with any issues
Here in Canada at L5K 2S8 - using OTA antenna settings, really unsure how to tell how far it’ got data for, if it’s in the logs i can dig it out. I used rto run 3 Tivo’s and they always had a nice exact date/time available for most recent guide data - it helped alot when things like internet cables fell out etc.
Good to see progress is being made, I did a ton of this sort of stuff way way back trying to merge multiple public sources and not something I’d want to try again!! Once you get some bad data recorded, it’s a nightmare to get things fixed back up!!
Ha, ha. Don’t we all? Last night’s Will & Grace was incorrectly recorded as S11E09 (it is actually episode 08) and The This Old House Hour was incorrectly called S18E13 (it is actually episode 12)
Now when the guide CORRECTS the numbering then will it still record? Because the next new Will & Grace to air will be S11E09, which might be a repeat in some algorithms. I’m guessing the guide is going to incorrectly continue on its merry way with the wrong episode numbers.
A program I have been recording nightly for many months called “N.H. Chronicle” just disappeared from my future recording schedule. I’m guessing that is because it suddenly no longer has any airdate associated with the guide data. I have attached an image. Tomorrow’s show (1/25) is scheduled to record. All the other shows do NOT show as scheduled to record and do not seem to have any date in their info but they do appear in the guide every night.
The data seems to dry up, on my system, for BBC1 from Midnight next Saturday and then gradually gets worse over the next 4 to 6 hours for other BBC channels as well as the Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Would you say that 7 days is typical at present or do you think I have a problem with my guide?
This could be to do with the time delays between them ingesting data, that data getting prepared and feeding into files that we pick daily and then Plex Media Server processing that data in scheduled tasks overnight
Losing recordings or getting recordings repeated over and over again is a much bigger impacting issue than the numbers being inaccurate or inconsistent with thetvdb. We are addressing the bigger impact at this moment in time.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for next week is showing wrong Season and Episode numbers but the descriptions for each episodes are correct… Please stop going back and forth on the numbering… for example this week recorded 74, 75, 76 then next week is 67, 75, 76, 77 and 78 that means next week two episodes won’t be recorded due to same number. last week was fine then this week numbers changed i had to manually rename the filenames now next week the numbers is wrong again! What’s wrong with your EPG Source! They are frakking it up!
FYI, I keep refreshing the guide hoping the S/E numbers will correct itself… but after reading this thread… nope… you are the guy that has to fix it every time Plex Pass members post here with issues! What the hell?
Here’s information for you that you will see it does not match TheTVDB and CBS episode Guide at all… Your EPG source keep renumbering wrong all the time! Making it impossible to record all new episodes which results in missing recording due to same number since It won’t overwrite the previous recording of same S/E nbr.
Tucson OTA / 85719 / 13.1 KOLD-LD13 (CBS)
Oh by the way, the start time for this show should be 10:35PM Arizona time not 10:30pm!
and The Late Late Show with James Corden actually starts at 11:37pm not 11:32pm!
The number being inacurate is a major part of Plex
Look at any topics about episodes not being added to library or added incorrectly, the majority of cases it’s because the naming is wrong
Whether shows are added from DVD rips, DVR, or from any other means, the naming of files is very important, correct naming cannot be achived if TiVo do not provide correct data
After over 7 months, you need to be wondering why your new provider is still not providing correct information, or have serious talks about reverting back to the previous provider
Workarounds to fix issues from the incompetent provider are not an acceptable solution, especially as this is a paid feature
Thank you for investigating @sa2000
The lineup is Comcast Londonderry Digital, 03087, Channel 709 (WMUR OTA 9.1)
I filled out one of the online reporting forms as well.
The show “N.H. Chronicle” did record last night (1/24) even though it was not shown on the planned DVR schedule. It has the wrong date code "- 1900-01-01 00 00 00 - " in its file name.
@sa2000 This was finally fixed as of last week… took a while since I reported it but was fixed. As of this morning not so much… I don’t understand why it is so difficult to properly manage the EPG! Please fix and leave alone! Fridays episode was correct at S47E99 and Mondays episode is labeled S47E98 and thus not new and not recorded, unless of course I jump though hoops… this is absolute insanity…
