New EPG and release

With current version of Plex Media Server we should not be auto matching with tvdb at the end of recordings and so we should be preserving whatever episode identification is in the EPG. I did find an issue where we appeared to continue to match and recreating the schedule should resolve that. Also having a separate set of DVR recording libraries should avoid clashing with previous tvdb matched episode numbers.

Our provider relies on the data provided by the channels and errors whereby what you can see in the lists I provided mismatch data from the channel own schedule - I can flag those and report to our provider as errors. I cannot flag errors that show by comparing to third party web sites - the comparison needs to be with the channel own listings

The channel’s website doesn’t even list any episode information, just a generic description of the show. They also only offer TV listings for CNN (which owns HLN).

Time to give up on this one, I suppose!

I still appreciate all of the help. At least I have more information on what to report next time.

This appears to have been a change to the program by Comedy Central and the screenshot from the android app must have been for old data and did not get refreshed for some reason

If you believe there is an issue with scheduling, we will need the logs

Requesting logs for an issue like this borders on pointless unless you catch the problem occurring instantly. I just checked and my logs go back 8 hours. If I noticed this happen last night logs would already be meaningless.

I’ve said this before: DVR logs should go into their own file, containing full audit of scheduling, starts, stops, and failures.

The tens of thousands of lines of guide data refresh should probably go into it’s own log as well.

Are you sure? There are six log files, the oldest being Plex Media Server.5.log. for me, this file is two days old. But maybe you have more things going on on your server.

See advanced server setting “LogNumFiles” - you can set it to decimal 20 if you like
See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/

This was fixed - may be not in time for the 20th march airing but the subsequent airings have been corrected and no longer show as episode 6 but as episode 5

This coming Monday (3/30) the schedule is wrong for CBS. It is showing Bull as a new episode, but the official CBS website shows no airing for Bull on Monday. The next new episode of Bull will be on April 6th.

Big city greens on Disney is still completely nonsensical mess.

In addition:

The Walking DeadS10·E16—A Look at World Beyond
Airs Wed, Apr 8 at 12:15AM on 842 AMCHD (AMC HDTV (East))

NOT S10E16! Your provider is beyond pathetic. It’s a freaking five minute preview! Why are they not capable of looking at something like this and then just date labeling it instead of some fubar BS SE info?

Tonight’s episode of Schitt’s Creek is not marked as new. Have to change recording schedule to capture repeats as well.

Channel 551 POPHD (Pop HDTV (East) on Fidelity Cablevision Lawton Digital.

I know this report is last minute and you won’t be able to fix it now, but I still think it’s worthwhile to report issues when they’re found.

The final episode of Schitt’s Creek (Season 6, Episode 14) will be airing next Tuesday (April 7).

I agree

I have flagged this to our provider

Examples of what is wrong so I can refer back to our provider. I do see some inconsistencies with a few not sequenced.

That appears to have got merged with the episode after the preview. Below is a view of the 8th April 2020 airings of this series. My adjustements on UTC/GMT times to local time in Dallas makes the difference being 5 hours - which would make the airing 01:15 am and not 12:15 am - have I made a mistake ? At 12:15 (which would be 05:15 am GMT I have “Dispatches from Elsewhere”

These are the 8th April 2020 airings

You will not be able to tell what is fubar about big city greens without ordering your table by episode number. Then notice how many completely different episodes are numbered the same. It’s like they counted up to a certain point then arbitrarily reset the episode counting.

Look at S01E14. There’s two different groups of two episodes. This happens over and over and over.

This doesn’t even included the nonsensicality of incrementing by one episode information when you air two episodes together. It doesn’t go 1,2,3,4,5,… it should go 1,3,5,7,9,…

Issues like this make it impossible to record and organize “dual airings”. If you catch a premier that is in a 15min block it will possibly be labeled correctly, but “dual airings” are never numbered to indicate there’s actually two episodes.

I have passed more examples to our provider. But to be fair here - the issue that I referred as stated below is still open and we have not had a response to say it is fixed - therefore highlighting it is still a problem is consistent with the fact that the issue is still open and being looked into.

Do you have evidence that dual airings are correctly identified in other EPGs ? It is my understanding that some channels, especially children programs channels air random episodes together as a combo and do not provide details of what is being shown

Go look at titantv.com. I just perused the next two weeks of listings. For today cartoon network has a vast amount of 15min shows broken into 15 minute chunks with their proper episode names. In plex you have all of them combined into 30min blocks and in the description have both titles. On cartoon network for most shows in a combined 30min block you will always get episode N and episode N+1. I’ve noticed victor&valentino do random pairings, i’ve never seen this with other “dual airing 30min block” recordings I’ve inspected. If you look on titantv the victor & valentino episodes are always split into their appropriate episodes as 15min blocks there, probably because they’re random.

A few that aren’t split I looked up and they are contiguous episodes N and N+1 in the 30min block. So perhaps if it’s random, it’s split, if it’s not then it might be combined.

None of the current “This Old House” or “Ask This Old House” episodes are being flagged as “new” even though this is their first run. This seems to have been going on for a while but realized that as soon as I changed from “New and Repeat Airings” to “New Airings Only” that it stopped recording.

channel number / channel name please so I can start to look into it. I already know which lineup you are using. So just need channel number

I have raised this before with our provider and the latest I have is that the channel wanted these shown as a combo and not individual episodes. I will discuss it further

Sorry about that. This seems to be on both local PBS Channels. Same episode airs on Saturday at 11am on 57.1 and at 2pm on 33.1.
