Thanks for reporting this. I have referred it to our provider
I have checked one of the airings on 4.1 KDFW (Fox) and the synopsis in the EPG agrees with what is on the channel schedule
and the channel guide
We recently made a change so that the EPG data is preserved and not changed by looking up what might be mismatched external metadata.
See EPG metadata is now retained for DVR recordings
You may need to recreate the schedule for the series
The fix I mentioned being worked on in my post here has now been released to beta - in version 1.18.8.2527
Release note Plex Media Server - #324 by emilybersin
- (DVR) Channels mapped to two different numbers in a lineup could fail to tune. (#11225)
Please can you now map channel 38.1 back to 38.1 in DVR Settings enabled channels and then upgrade to version 1.18.8.2527 and after launch - do a manual EPG Refresh through DVR Settings and on completion check that 38.1 does appear correctly in the grid and does tune ok.
Please let me know either way and if there is an issue, please get server logs
Please could you tell me if this is ok now. I compared what we have for 17 March on 62.1 CW with what is here
This shows 6-15 as being “The Exorcism of Nash Wells”
Lineup: Fidelity Cablevision Lawton Digital
Channel: TCN4K (The Country Network in 4K)
Guide information just shows “The Country Network in 4K,” no actual information about current or upcoming airings. Also, channel isn’t in 4K, so I’m not sure if name can be changed!
This has now been fixed. Episode / Season are correct now and Titles match.
An EPG refresh should pick the corrections
I’ve pointed this out before. Disney’s numbering of “Big City Greens” is nonsensical.
Now the web ui does not allow me to cut & paste, but here are duplicate S/N episodes with completely different episode titles. This makes this show IMPOSSIBLE to record all of.
S01E08
S01E09
S01E10
S01E14
S01E15
Probably more episodes are affected. There is zero point in labeling S/E data if it is pure nonsense.
Thanks for reporting this but I am not familiar with all the available channel names and it is easier if you tell me exactly what channel number and channel name so I can investigate - I can look at older posts and work out the channel number that way as I am sure it was mentioned before but that slows me down
For each issue I need to locate the lineup, locate the exact channel and then fetch its EPG data and investigate
Disney Channel 847, there’s another in the 900’s I don’t get called Disney XD that is also affected most likely.
Grande communications.
I have identified all the episode numbers that have different titles and have referred it to our provider
PS: Lineup is “Grande ClearSource Dallas Digital”
Thank you
Just a quick FYI:
Forensic Files II has some issues on the guide last night. What should have been episode 7 just had an air date for season and episode. The next episode (they air back-to-back), should have been episode 8, but had an episode number of 4, but the correct episode name and description. The second episode was not originally showing it was set to record, so I deleted the prior episode I had in my library and I see it recorded this morning.
For what it’s worth, zap2it (powered by Gracenote) also lacked season and episode number information. At least episodes were marked as new.
I cannot do anything with this. Whilst I can get to the lineup from previous posts/investigations, I would not be able to guess the channel number and channel name which I need to find the data for this show
Sorry!
It was more of an anecdote, but I actually see those 2 episode airing again and they still have the incorrect information.
For me, the channel lineup is Fidelity Cablevision Lawton Digital. Channel is HLN (422).
Lineup is “Grande ClearSource Dallas Digital”
Dispatches From ElsewhereS1·E5—Inside New
Airs Friday Mar 20 at 4:26AM on 842 AMCHD (AMC HDTV (East))
This is some five minute preview, not a new episode and not S01E05
This could be issue with what the channel is providing
Found it on channel 427.
I can see an issue where we have sequencing for some airings but not others and I will refer this to our provider to make sure there is consistency - either season/episode sequencing or date sequencing.
I am not able to access the channel web pages (restricted to US only)
https://www.cnncreativemarketing.com/project/ffii/
So I cannot verify the episode info.
I have picked below schedules for Thursday 19th and Sunday 22nd since new episodes air then and would like you to tell me if there are any errors
I have adjusted the start times to GMT-5 which I believe is your timezone
Thursday 19th March 2020
Sunday 22nd March 2020
(I have used UK Date formats in these views)
Thank you for reporting this. I have referred this to our provider. I see that episode 5 airs at 21:10 CDT on 23rd.
I’m posting this here, because it seems like a guide refresh dvr scheduling bug.
Essentially plex decided to refresh my guide at 9pm last night. There was a new episode of crank yankers scheduled to record at 9:30pm. Then I look at the schedule and see it’s not recording, but other stuff is. I refer to the logs and see this:
Mar 17, 2020 21:00:33.673 [0x7f6514e31700] DEBUG - Grabber: Scheduling 'Crank Yankers - E1 - Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman & Nikki Glaser' for timed grab at 2020-03-23 23:04:00 (in 525807 seconds)
So, plex refreshed the guide and said “Hey i’ll ignore this brand new episode that starts in 30min and instead record that episode a week from now, in the middle of the night”. Well that is not conducive to me watching it…
Is plex ignoring anything that starts within a brief time of refresh if that show airs again?
I’ve seen this exact same thing happen multiple times and never correlated it. Recordings just decide not to start, instead scheduling themselves in the future. The thing is, those future recordings aren’t even shown in the schedule! The episode will record on 3/23, but will not show up nor will it indicate it’s recording during the time.
You obviously have some logs - if you could attach the zipped logs I will see the time the refresh completed, the time the scheduler ran after that
Doh! Sorry about that!
Firstly, thank you for looking into this. Secondly, I can say things have turned into a hot mess.
If episode number is corresponding to air-date (which is what I suppose should be used for a first run), things has recently gone wonky.
First 8 episodes: https://thetvdb.com/series/forensic-files-ii/seasons/official/1
TV Guide: https://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/forensic-files-ii/episodes/1412177/
TVDB previously mirrored TV Guide (I was one of the editors for the TVDB page). Now episodes have changed episode numbers on TV Guide. 8 becoming 4 and 4 becoming 5… 12 is skipped altogether.
You’re probably correct it’s about the information being reported from the network, even if it appears to be somewhat incorrect.
I can give suggestions on how I think the episode information should be, but I suppose there is no definitive answer.
With the changes about metadata not changing to match agents for DVR content, would episode 4 (aired on March 15) have been recorded previously if I had not deleted the first episode 4 from my library?
