Not all airings have Season / Episode information. Some channels just air the shows as series with no episode information
If you tell me that it was having episode information before but not now then I will follow it up but I will need some dates to help - eg approx. when it was ok
Some channels. Cartoon network puts this data. Sometimes it is not there two weeks into the future, but then they update that schedule and all data is filled in well ahead of time. Right now it is obvious that your provider has not resyncâd their data with cartoon network, because the various marathons that are on are âgeneric showâ. None of the saturday night lineup changes are shown either. The schedule for that channel is either missing data or just plain wrong in lots of cases.
If your provider does not get regular full schedule updates they are missing all of these updates. All of the missing S/E/T data has been displaying on cartoon networks official swim schedule for a week. When these dramatic updates happen they donât percolate down to plex until the previous schedule is already invalid by a day or two often times. Just like now. If saturday nights schedule doesnât get updated with the new lineup, then it will have been wrong for two entire weeks. Next week has just as many issues in the late night schedule.
That may be, but I previously had refreshed 2-3 hours prior to a show and it didnât show the ânewâ tag when there should have been one. I just did a refresh and Thursday night is now showing ânewâ. Before the manual refresh just now, it did not. Hopefully it is fixed now?

Channels 12/512
Tuesday - 4/21
The Flash (8:00 PM EDT) - S06E16 - Not Marked as new episode. Did not Record
Legends of Tomorrow (9:00 PM EDT) - S05E09 - EPG marked episode as S05E08, thus not marked as a new episode. Did not Record.
Sunday - 5/3
Batwoman (8:00 PM EDT) - S01E18 - Not Marked as new episode. Will not record.
Supergirl (9:00 PM EDT) - S05E17 - Not Marked as new episode. Will not record.
Next Tuesday 4/28 is going to have a similar problem. Plex isnât marking DCâs Legends of Tomorrow as new, even though the official website shows it as new. The CW Broadcast Schedule
I am actually seeing The Flash marked as new on 4/28, but no episode numbering. So it may still record, but something there is screwed up.
So, not only was there zero S/E/T data for the metalocalypse marathon on cartoon network last night, but your lame provider didnât even get the changes made over a week ago that indicated the marathon was not just four hours of 15min blocks. Instead it was a mixture of 15 minute, thirty minute, and one forty five minute special. Now I have a collection of 16 unlabeled and in some cases, incomplete episodes.
I do see that FINALLY after almost two weeks your provider got tonights saturday night lineup changes, but alas all of next week late night still has lineup changesânone of which are showing. This includes zero S/E/T data on a seven hour rick & morty marathon.
I noticed that the Batwoman episode numbering is now off by 1. I canât rely on the CW data any more. Unfortunately, I have to set all CW shows to record New and Repeat airings instead of just New.
@dugiehowsa⊠Thank you for pointing that out. I have had to rely on manually flagging things to a temporary volume to then fix the episode number and move them. This EPG data is crap and Iâm exhausted checking every single week for basic recording of new episodes. Between the vendor mislabeling episodes that then cause future ones to not record to them not labeling them as new ⊠it is multiple errors every week. I gave up trying to post all the errors because so many of them happen and I find them more often than not after the error has screwed me.
I am SO waiting for the end of the TV season. The CW shows have been the WORST lately, but every network has had problems here in the Denver Market. Its not sustainable. I appreciate that @sa2000 is trying to help us all, but lets be honest. Plex is pushing the problem to us and burdening the community to find our own problems. Until there is a fundamental shift that the EPG provider takes accountability to the crappy, incomplete and VERY often inaccurate data we are all screwed.
Iâm always hopeful that this will get resolved but damn I need a break. Maybe by September Plex will get their EPG provider to step it up. This clearly wasnât an issue before the change. At least not to this degree. I had occasional issues before but this is beyond stupid. I would challenge anyone at Plex to make a compelling sales pitch for using their DVR with all this crap.
The EPG listings problems I reported on channel 26.1 in Chicago are fixed
as of today. Thank you sa2000 for your help in reporting them to the EPG,
much appreciate.
The investigation into Forensic Files II on 427 HLN channel has concluded now. Apologies for the delay - I had to refer the issue back as there were still discrepancies - further corrections made and it seems ok to me now
The 3rd May airings are ok now. Check now and if wrong, do an EPG refresh and check again.
The metadata starts with generic basic series information and it gets refined after that. You can see below that 3rd May is ok but 10th May has not yet been completely setup.
The Scheduled Tasks nightly EPG Refresh may miss out on updates if they are available sometime after the scheduled tasks time window ends and would then need to wait for next dayâs refresh to pick up the changes.
That is a possibility.
Another possibility is that it gets fixed too late for Plex to pick up the data in time to allow for userâs EPGs to refresh. And sometimes there may be simply an error. I am interested to know about those - so please do continue to report issues - but not far in advance
Unfortunately, if delaying reporting to the last moment and doing a manual refresh before confirming - it does mean that there would be no chance of it being fixed in time - but it is still worth highlighting the fact that it arose and I can follow that up.
I cannot see any episode numbering for Batwoman in the EPG at the moment - the data for 3rd May appears to be date based - Does it show as episode with 3rd May 2020 as the identifier ?
The batwoman episode that aired this past Sunday was saved with the following file name:
Batwoman (2019) - S01E18 - A Narrow Escape.ts
This episode was in fact S01E17
Last nightâs version of the Flash got saved with a Date suffix instead of SxxExx, so there wasnât a meta data match.
A similar thing is going to happen with the May 3rd Batwoman and Supergirl recordings. Although the episodes are now marked as new, they are showing up with data episde numbers instead of SxxExx.
Yes. Batwoman and Supergirl are both currently showing dates instead of episode numbers.
DCâs Legends of Tomrrow on 5/5 is also showing a date instead of episode number.
According to IMDB it should be:
5/3 - Batwoman (2019) - S01E18 - If You Believe in Me, Iâll Believe in You
5/3 - Supergirl (2015) - S05E17 - Deus Lex Machina
I need to know if these ever showed up as season number episode number on these channels and when - we do get some sequenced and some are date based - it is an issue if one day it is sequenced and another day it is not
and if it is normally sequenced as season and episode in the EPG before recording but showing as date based instead in EPG - does it remain in this state by the time it is aired with an EPG refresh done when establishing if it is wrong
Do you remember how the past sunday one was showing in the EPG before the recording?
We have stopped matching to the tvdb after recordings to avoid episodes changed from what was in the EPG - but if the library was an old library with episodes for the same show from before this change then we would still match to tvdb
I would suggest trying for a few weeks starting to record into new library dedicated for DVR recordings - one for type movies and one for type shows and see how the recordings end up. We want to preserve the EPG metadata to avoid missing recordings or duplicate recordings because of the change that may arise when matching to the tvdb
Do you remember how the past sunday one was showing in the EPG before the recording?
No. Honestly, I wasnât paying attention to the EPG info in the DVR section if it was showing up in the section for future recordings. I was only looking at the EPG info if I knew a new episode was coming up and it wasnât showing up in the DVR schedule for future recordings.
Thanks - all I can suggest is to try and start a new library for recordings without the previous tvdb matched airings and that way the episodes may have consistency in how they are named and preserving the metadata in the EPG
