New EPG and release

Good to know. Seems like it would be handy for someone in the back end to build out some better database troubleshooting interfaces.

The approximate date where it was correct was April 28th. I think.

Oh good. I did a refresh and am only seeing the air-date instead of episode number, but we’ll see what happens with the recording.

Still would not give definitive outcomes in investigations - because some series have multiple instances and the right one to investigate is the one linked to from the schedule for the channel - and it could be that this series instant that has wrong data or the channel is linked to the wrong instant of the series

correctly.updated

Well lookie here, last minute updates ingested and pushed out

Hopefully this is not a one off and the rapid update cycle maintains

Legends of Tomorrow shows episode 12 which was the episode that aired last week. This week’s episode “I am Legends” is S05E13. Almost missed this if I didn’t have to continually babysit my DVR. Any insight? Are us reporting this making progress to making things better or is this the new “normal”?

Thank you for reporting this. I have referred it to our provider.

Now that we no longer match new recordings with thetvdb (since PMS 1.18.8), the Impact of discrepancies like this could be minimized if you have a dedicated DVR Recording library starting with an empty library and no history of any tvdb / agent matching. With existing libraries, any show/series previously matched to thetvdb will continue to do that and that could lead to loss of recordings or duplicate recordings.

1.18.8 was released over two months ago, and I’ve definitely seen new problems show up since then. How does not matching it to TheTVDB help? Or are you saying it should avoid skipping the recording when the EPG numbers are wrong?

My workflow for the last year has been to record to a temporary library not showing on the home page. Then each night I check the recordings (before anything starts and after they finish) then rename whatever crap Plex gets wrong, make sure the whole thing is there, and copy it to my main library. Delete everything out of the temporary library location and rescan the related libraries.

It is labor intensive. For the last three months I’ve been doing the same thing in Channels which hasn’t gotten a name wrong or missed a scheduled recording. I think Plex has had maybe half a dozen episodes requiring manual intervention in that same time period.

This is still ongoing issues
with incorrect time for both late show and constant renumbering. Most of time it is not up to date till the last minute. EPG need manual refreshing several times a day to get the latest EPG with correct information except for those Colbert and Corden shows
I had to double check with TitanTV or TV Guide to see if there’s new episode while your EPG doesn’t show “New” badge
I had EyeTV which is so reliable than Plex’s and I would have to go back to it and get it updated and start using it for those certain shows so I don’t miss recording any.

Also HDHomerun’s EPG shows accurate time for those shows I mentioned. That’s weird that plex still have incorrect start time.

Also seeing the same issue for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert

I did miss the recording of DC’s tonight because of this. Tonights episode is 13 but my epg says 12.

In regards to thetvdb and recordings: are you saying that we should have our Dedicated TV Show DVR library agent set to personal media? Is there a way to strip out thetvdb meta data without recreating the entire library?

Update: Looking at the guide listing on titantv.com it shows Legends of Tomorrow’s episode from tonight as Episode 13, while the epg in my plex shows it as 12. And the same discrepancy for next weeks episode. my Area code is 92691 and my channel for the CW is 5.1 using OTA broacast

If the metadata from the EPG is preserved and not changed - then the chance of getting a missed recording because the episode is already in the library or duplicate recording because the EPG metadata is a bit different from what is in the library should be reduced.

Making adjustments within the DVR library risks getting lost or multiple recordings. Deleting a recording risks it being recorded again where there is a schedule for the whole series.

Some EPG errors will continue to have an impact - but those due to renaming or re-matching with thetvdb would no longer be a factor

A show in the recording library that has been matched to thetvdb before will continue to be matched to thetvdb for new recordings even after version 1.18.8

Cartoon network 48/848 friday night is pretty much completely wrong, again. It shows a six hour boondocks marathon when according to adult swim schedule it’s a “Joe Pera” marathon.

Is there a way to un-match a show from thetvdb?

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow had a unique situation this year in that it’s very first episode this year was not the official start of the season. It is more of a special in that it was the final episode of this years cross over event In some places it’s listed as episode 0 and in other’s it’s episode 1.

Select the show in Plex Web and then open up the options and select unmatch

I am hoping this would stick

Chanel 19.6 Justice TV in Cincinnati OH USA is missing from the EPG. I have reported it multiple times for the past 5 months using directions from this link Reporting Plex DVR Lineup Inaccuracies & Current Status. Does anyone watch for reporting stuff here or is this the place to report it? Can this be updated in the EPG?

This has now been referred to our provider to correct.

Escalating in the forum is the right action.

Thank you. I will report EPG changes in this forum from now on.

Any remaining issues with “This Old House” / “Ask This Old House” / “Ask This Old House Hour”

Nope. Think things are all set at least for me.
