New EPG and release

Thanks

Can’t match channel to guide - channel missing.

55082 Zip
Broadcast TV Minneapolis - St. Paul OTA Broadcast

13.5 StartTV has no match in selectable channels.

Thanks for raising this. I would like to understand why this is different from what is documented here for Minneapolis

This gives channel 4.2 for StartTV which is available on the
Broadcast TV Minneapolis - St. Paul OTA Broadcast lineup

13.5 shows for La Crosse in Wisconsin

Is the 55082 zip code area not receiving the channel on 4.2 ? Or are you in a different zip code area from the one you are using for the lineup?

Also checking RabbitEars.Info - Market Listings does not show 13.5 available for Minneapolis.

Nope, I am in Stillwater in zip 55082. Just noticed I was getting extra channels detected by my HDHR Extend. Went to match them up. It likely isn’t any different as you pointed out. I missed that. Channels from that far away aren’t going to be as strong as the ones out of Minneapolis / St. Paul. Now that you mention where it is from, I would be hard pressed to even get that signal.

The wind must have been blowing in the right direction during the most recent auto scan.

Thanks.

Thanks for confirming - so you got the channel you want ok on 4.2

That is correct. Strong signal for 4.2 StartTV.
Thanks for checking.

This was fixed sometime back.

Are there any remaining issues with it ?

The season finale was last week and there doesn’t seem to be any rerun episodes this week.

Thank you - I just noticed that when searching for it.

Hopefully the fix was there in time before the Tuesday night’s finale

Catching up with old actions

The channel was added on 22 May and EPG data was in place about a week later.

Consumer 101 should be new tomorrow, but Plex doesn’t think so.

Is there a reason why guide data is down to eight days now and has not updated in a week?

We have two days’ updates to ingest at the moment - It is possible that the Monday files will extend the days.

But this should not be the case at this moment as data was ingested sunday night

has not updated in a week

There was a major data ingestion issue at our provider on 12 and 13 june - that may have been a factor.

At this moment we are 2 updates behind. I will post here when the updates have been completed and let me know if you spot issues with forthcoming airings

@kamhouse @NDInnovations

The ingestions of the last 2 day’s updates has completed and cache cleared by now - please could you refrresh the guide manually and see if you still spot issues

Five additional days of guide data has been received.

I’m having major issues with this new EPG since it’s release. It seems to get worse week by week. My provider is Spectrum in Manhattan.

One example is Channel 1209 (CBS) - Inside edition - within Plex’s guide it shows incorrect episode numbers. ie, in Plex it shows Episode (S32·E106 Are Some Hotels Not Changing Sheets Even During COVID-19) but it’s actually S32E211. Sometimes the shows are added into a 2020 folder with no Episode numbers or titles at all. Along with this, most local channels like CBS, ABC etc do not pull any artwork. I’m left with stock icons/pictures of cameramen and anchors when Plex cannot find the correct art work.
Most news shows along with a few TV Shows are also inaccurate with the metadata along with many other incorrect channel lineups.

As a test, I setup with the the same hardware using Emby. Using the provider ‘Charter Spectrum Southern Manhattan - Digital New York’ all the EPG data downloads correctly. S32E211 for the show mentioned above was correct!

Is there a way to subscribe back to ‘Gracenote’ or other providers like ‘Schedules direct’? I’m aware of XMLTV implementation but this is a not so easy to set it up on my UNRAID server.

This new ‘powered by Plex’ is an absolute disaster!!! I have waited for months and months patiently for Plex to migrate and fix these major flaws, but nothing seems to improve, it just gets worse. Please allow us to choose our own provider or please fix the DVR/Guide altogether. Thank you for your time.

Here is a comparison screenshot for the next day of ‘Inside Edition’ from Plex EPG and Emby EPG. Plex shows incorrect ‘S32E107’ Emby shows correct ‘S32E212’

Getting really, really, really tired of the EPG data being worthless.

Minneapolis / St. Paul OTA 55082

Channel 5.2

2 Broke Girls

No Season / Episode data, 4th time in a row. Hey, Season 2020 sounds just dandy! Good luck figuring out what season and episode it should really be. I shouldn’t have to!

People pay a premium for this. This is what we get?

One thing I can’t figure out is how it can be so inconsistent. A show can run along for weeks without issue then suddenly gets screwed up. Meanwhile EPGs using Gracenote remain accurate. If everyone was screwed up you could say it was the channel provider. But when it’s just a single provider it’s like they are making stuff up and not pulling from any official data source.

I have a syndicated airing of Heartland on Saturdays. The first part of season 13, Plex thought it was still in season 12. Finally got it fixed around episode 5 and everything was accurate for a couple episodes. Then somehow episode 8 and 9 were off showing 9 and 10 for the numbers but still having an accurate episode title. Then when the season finale of episode 10 aired this past week it was back on track with the number and title accurate.

This channel normally just repeats the current season over and over until the next season comes out. Looking at the upcoming week, Plex has next Saturday wrong, showing S11E08, while Gracenote shows Season 13 starting over at 1 again. Based on track record, Gracenote is probably right.

I’ve seen similar happen on other national airings on Plex. The show is accurate for weeks then suddenly it’s off by one episode number repeatedly (all while Gracenote listings stay accurate).

Well has anybody else noticed that this thread has been running over a year already? Nothing. The whole DVR is a mess, the EPG doesn’t work and I’m truly pulling my hair out with frustration. I would totally switch to Emby even though I’m a customer of theirs, but, I won’t because of the lack of ComSkipping.

Everything we say on this forum seems to fall on deaf ears. I really hope that I’m wrong and that we will all be surprised when Plex releases a whole new DVR experience. Now wouldn’t that be nice?

I mean, you can’t even clear out past scheduled recordings without selecting one by one waiting for a popup to ‘cancel recording’ then wait 20 seconds for the pop up to disappear to then scroll to the next TV show or Movie to do exactly the same process. It’s insanley mundane. Don’t forget about how you have to scroll up and down with each show or movie one by one to prioritise recordings in an ever endless pointless scheduling interface.

For me, the scheduled recordings do not even automatically disappear as they should. Playing a Live stream takes well over 30 secs because I can’t easily clean out my DVR. I wish I new how to open up the XML file to edit it easily away from the useless interface. Does anybody know how?

Back to the EPG
please let us pay $25 a year for a decent guide or switch back to Gracenote for free, like it was before. Emby think’s it’s good enough for them to switch.

It’s beyond me.
