New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

It has now been switched to “Teleshopping” instead of “Off-Air” - the channel is broadcasting Teleshopping when off air - but for some reason this is not acknowledged to be the case in the channel’s own schedule.

That is the current position, I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer here - it is just different.

We will be looking into this ourselves with regards to how hubs are presented eg the “Upcoming Movies” hub and see if it is possible to separate dccumentaries, for example.

I managed to reproduce this and will be collecting diagnostics and referring it to our Plex Media Server development team to investigate and resolve

UK freeview Movies.
Many so called movies are in fact documentaries and one off shows. Why are still being classified as Movies in the Tivo EPG - How can Plex continue to get this all wrong
Any ETA as to when this will be fixed - This was not an issue in the Gracenote EPG
I have reported this before
Just a few of many many many many many examples

I have already commented on this here New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK - #205 by sa2000

and further post here New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK - #208 by sa2000

Yes I had forgot the previous mentions
Its different and wrong in my opinion, hence I feel worth bringing up again
My EPG guide on my TVs and DVR boxes from various different companies including Samsung, Panasonic, Humax, Huawei, and the previous Gracenote EPG all categorised films correctly and do not lump in documentaries as movies so why can’t the new Tivo EPG do it this way as well
Clearly a Documentary is not a Film/Movie
I will check with friends who have Virgin Tivo PVRs to see whether their PVRs display documentaries as films

Agree, it seems a pretty ludicrous approach by the provider to categorise these all as films when no other provider does so!

As mentioned earlier, we will be looking the possibility of separating these out of the “Upcoming Movies” set

The “Movies4Men” one I would say is not debatable. it is a movie channel

That channel got replaced by Sony Movies Action as it seems, but also shows TV series like M*A*S*H. Following your argumentation, Mash is now also a movie…
Is this correct in your view?

I will look into this

China: A New World Order has now been switched to Series as it does have episodes. This change should feed through in next 24-48 hours.

Yes Movies4men is Sony movie action now with TV shows and Movies - and has TV shows, Documentaries, Teleshopping and movies and Soccer bites !
I just did a retune and EPG update and still shows as Movies4men and EPG does allow to record the whole film though which is great

Actual EPG

It was just an observation that it was a movies channel - but it is not and thanks for correcting me.

MAS*H is correctly marked as a series

The channel changes announced by Freeview here are being looked into at the moment

I just wanted to point out, that not everything that runs on a movie channel is automatically a movie. I guess what is causing problems here is, that people expect to have documentaries as an extra category for airings, I would have opted for the same. But if you look e.g. at themoviedb, you see that documentaries are a gerne under the movies category (or series if it has multiple episodes). So even if you would not agree at first, this approach in separating only in the two categories movies and series is also established practice for documentaries as it seems.

Problem with Freesat South:
Rise of the Nazis airs tonight on BBC Two at 21:00, but recording schedule shows WED 01:35 (only when repeats are enabled):

BBC website shows this

Plex Live TV guide shows this for today:

and

I did a manual EPG refresh and this caused the programme to disappear from tonight’s recording schedule; it had shown correctly before the refresh.

Love in the Countryside BBC 2 9:00PM 17th Sept is showing as S1 E7 when it should be S2 E1. It looks like the new EPG provider doesn’t understand that TV series in the UK are generally quite short with 6 episodes in a series being pretty common.

Problem on Freesat South:
Last night, it recorded episode 3 of The Capture on BBC One at 21:00 but the recordings has this filename: The Capture - S01E04 - Episode 3.ts

This was looked into and fixed. Duplicate episodes caused the problem

@sa2000 - thanks for getting this fixed

Still seems to be a lot of blocks of “Unknown Airing” in the guide. For example Channel 4 HD (104) has Unknown Airing between 9PM and 12AM on Sunday night.

Channel 5 HD (105) has unknown airing between 8pm and 10pm also on Sunday night.

Trying to set something to record and no amount of refreshing the guide data fills those unknown airing slots.

This is a new problem that started after the 12th September. It has been referred to our guide data team
