New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

I am doing tests to see what happens. The issue here is that for Drama Eastenders is being broadcast as a series as opposed to episodes - and without episode date identification, we are defaulting to the airing date and that clashes with the real day’s episode on BBC.

I will discuss this further with our development teams and at the same time see if our provider can give episode identification on Drama.

You can limit recordings for EastEnders to just BBC 1 channel and that should stop Drama airings impact the recordings

Thanks for looking into it. Your suggestion of only recording BBC1 is unfortunately no good to me as I want the Drama episodes too (old episodes)

Also, channels DVR has original air date, ideally you’d use that. (Wouldn’t harm to use whatever provider they are, to be frank)

Generic programme slots are appearing in the EPG for many channels (I’m on Freesat South):

And yes, I’ve just done an EPG refresh from the DVR page but the EPG is still showing those generic slots.

Would need server logs to establish why it is not recording.

See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Ensure you run with debug logging enabled. Restart the server to get fresh logs created
When the recording fails to start, capture the server logs zip and attach here together with what was scheduled, which channel number / name and what date/time

If the recording does start but does not complete, please collect further logs at the end

what Plex client app ? Is it the same on all client apps ? is it only on some channels?
There was a data ingestion issue but that only affected some channels. A full manual EPG refresh now should correct that (Server settings / live tv and DVR / Refresh Guide and wait for it to complete)

We have just deployed a fix that should resolve the issue of overlapping blocks that give rise to this.

Please do a full EPG Refresh to correct the problem.

The issue of overlapping blocks with old generic data not being removed arose after an ingestion issue a few days ago.

Dates seem to be getting mixed up again
S82E01 30/12/19 (should be S82E66)
S82E02 01/01/20 (should be S82E67)
S82E03 02/01/20 (should be S82E68)
S82E04 01/01/20 (should be S82E69, actually broadcast 03/01/20)

Fridays Neighbours is Episode number 8269

This is S36E03 (not S82E69)

Home and Away is also wrong on Five (005/105) at 13:15

Plex has mondays episode as S72E01, should be S32E186 and then sequential from there on

Ah OK, was just basing it on how Plex used to say S86 until last week. Fri def had the wrong airing date.

Thanks, not checked in a while, last time i looked they only had dates (though a request for proper S/E has been in for a while)

The soaps usually go from the first episode of the year as a new season (based upon original country of airing)
Luckily Neighbours premiers on the same day as OZ, so it all ties up

H&A is awkward as the UK is about 5 weeks behind, so we are still in the 2019 season

This is what should be showing for Monday

0601n

0601haa

Ah OK that makes more sense then - My 5 just a bit confusing. So only issue is wrong date for Friday’s episode.

My 5 is using the sequential episode number (dont think it’s possible to get a S/E from this, there are now 260 episodes per season)

To fully fix this we need to either, get Plex to provide the correct S/E or use the original aired date

This is 2020 episode for this year

“24 Hours in Police Custody”

Monday and Tuesday 6/7 Jan Channel 4 HD - this is a 2 part episode but unable to record the second one because both are listed as s09e01 with no difference despite being a part 1 and part 2.

Is this farce ever going to end?!

I think I’ll just jump to Emby and be done with this waste of my time.

Recordings for the new Dracula series on BBC One are messed up (I’m on Freesat South):

The episodes are recorded into these files:

  1. Dracula (2020)/Season 2020/Dracula (2020) - S01E01 - The Rules of the Beast.ts
  2. Dracula (2020)/Season 2020/Dracula (2013) - 2020-01-02 12 00 00 - Blood Vessel.ts
  3. Dracula (2020)/Season 2020/Dracula (2013) - 2020-01-03 12 00 00 - The Dark Compass.ts

The issues are:

  • two episodes are labelled with date stamp and one has SxxExx numbering
  • episode 3 in Plex shows metadata for S0 E1 In Search of Dracula with Mark Gatiss

The generic slots have moved along and start showing now for programmes next SAT from 05;30

Hi
I have not visited this topic for a while and see there are still huge issues in a huge thread (and many other threads)

Please can we at least have the option to use/Choose the 7 day OTA Freeview EPG that gets broadcast rather than this Tivo provided stuff which is still very poor and inaccurate

TVHeadend uses the OTA Freeview EPG with no issues and I tend to use this more and more rather than Plex - It would be nice to go back to using (my paid for) Plex as my daily EPG rather than TVHeadend as the interface is much better on Plex

Thanks

Dracula was so messed up I gave up, deleted the recordings and got them “by other means”.

Emby is a non-starter as they still do not support Mac.

Please Plex, as requested above, add freeview OTA guide support.

Emby does support Mac; I’ve recently trialled it but gave up as it was difficult to manage the channel lineup for my Freesat tuner as Emby doesn’t support this and I had to use TVMosaic.
