New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

I can see Monday and Friday airings ok - but there are also airings for Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday that should be changed. I have flagged it to our provider

Thanks, as ever I appreciate you doing that. It does still highlight though that there’s a major problem with the provider. They should have picked up this stuff themselves given it was clearly published and reflected in all other listings, they shouldn’t be relying on customers having to point out the issue and then you having to spend time flagging it, they really should be on top of it themselves.

There are a number of shows with a default year - defaulted when the series was first encountered and the series metadata did not include a start year

I will send a request to have a start year added to this series.

I will also follow up looking into identifying these and exploring how best to derive the series start year when it is absent.

Some shows get a “reboot” and start afresh - in this case “The Chase” that is being aired did start in 2009

The guide has went from plain old unreliable to just now not being able to be relied on AT ALL.

Does your provider actually CHECK what the latest listings are?

My original complaint about the STV HD schedule being out after 10pm (mainly because of extra local news programming) is just the opposite now. I now can’t record “Peston” because the listings still show “Scotland Tonight” on for half an hour, even though it hasn’t been scheduled for a while now.

Also “Newsnight” - BBC 2 HD - has been changed from 22:30 to 22:45 - not on your guide it’s not.

Unbelievable for a PAID SERVICE. Totally useless in fact.

Checked the server and it’s the correct time zone and showing the correct time.

This is quite odd.

Screenshot 1 -

shows my Plex Media Player on the left with the programme clearly scheduled for 2.10AM and the server on the right with the programme correctly scheduled at 9PM!

Screenshot 2 - shows my trying to limit the airing time and the times are both 1 hour ahead of the correct time.

Most odd. I will see what happens and report back, might be interesting.

Both systems are in the correct time zone.

Sure I can appreciate that - but that doesn’t necessarily appear to be the case with this show (or the ones I previously reported. Danger Mouse, for example, was showing the year of the original shows from 1981, that I watched when I was a nipper, as opposed to that of the new Reboot series from 2015).

The two episodes that I mentioned in my previous post (S01E06 and S01E07) were recorded with an incorrect start date (Probably defaulting to the airing date like you mentioned) but then the other episodes recorded with the correct start year (presumably as it was corrected),

Looking at my recordings of this series it seems that episodes 6 and 7 were the first to record - presumably as I didn’t see them in the guide until after episode 5 aired.

So my guess is that the following happened on my system:

03/12/19 - S01E06 (New showing recorded as 2019)
04/12/19 - S01E07 "

[Start year was corrected - somehow]

08/12/19 - S01E05 (Repeat showing, or it aired out of sequence, recorded as 2018)
08/12/19 - S01E08 (New showing recorded as 2018)
09/12/19 - S01E09 "
10/12/19 - S01E10 "
11/12/19 - S01E11 "
12/12/19 - S01E12 "
13/12/19 - S01E13 "
23/12/19 - S01E01 (Repeat showing recorded as 2018)

etc…

…and now the worrying thing (assuming the start year in the filename is related to the start year of the synopsis as shown in my screenshot) is that the guide is showing repeats with a start year of 2019. so it would seem we have gone backwards.

Thank you - much appreciated.

There are several aspects to this. Ones where there was no start year and it got defaulted incorrectly. For some series we found that there may be two instances of the same series with two different sets of metadata, This is an area I am looking into

Having difficulty seeing the contents of the screenshots. Perhaps split into two screenshots

Were the recordings scheduled before the DST change?

They were scheduled after the DST change. I also deleted and tried to reschedule too with the same result.

Don’t worry too much - it appears to be recording the 9PM showing anyway. Other recordings look OK too.

Thanks for your help.

What about the timezone for the client ?

Client is the same Timezone.

I managed to reproduce the error in “Limit to Airing Time” where it appears to be out. The Guide Grid time is OK.

I have referred this to our Plex Media Server team.

Hi… BBC 2 & BBC 2 HD News Night seems to have moved to a start time of 10:45 PM but the EPG still says it starts at 10:30 PM . Can this be fixed please? It’s been like this for a while now. I’ve just refreshed the EPG and it’s still wrong.

Thanks for reporting this. It appears that only tomorrow’s airing is at the new time.
I will refer this to our provider - I suspect the updates for next week will come in over the weekend

Thanks again as always

No, I’ve reported this earlier in this thread.

Get it together Plex - this is NOT what I’ve paid for.

I’ll just not bother recording Newsnight AGAIN tonight, eh, like the rest of this week.

Again, I would urge ANYONE even THINKING about entrusting their OTA recording to Plex to LOOK ELSEWHERE - it’s an ongoing nightmare of amateurism.

Is this supposed to be so generic; there is no individual episode description, which I find shocking. I find individual episode info very useful when trying to find a specific episode I want to watch for reference purposes.

This is from the Radio times:

SUMMARY

The programme joins Adam Frost in his garden to bring viewers inspiration for their plots, along with all the essential gardening jobs for this weekend. Plus, the team presents a guide through seasonal highlights from across the country, visiting stunning gardens, meeting gardeners and finding out their secrets of success.

And this is from Channels App:

The Plex guide description is somewhat (quite a lot) lacking.

This is now set as 2018

This has been fixed and the updated data will be picked up tomorrow. There is no impact of this as the start times will be right before the actual airings happen

Today’s EPG data is correct for today and after tomorrow’s EPG refresh, it will be correct for next week’s airings

I thought the change in the schedule only came in on Monday this week
