New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

I am afraid that it is generic at the moment for some channels and there is planned development work to allow us to pick more specific descriptions. I cannot give timescales but it is on the list.

I do not understand - this is false information. The EPG is correct for today. And it will be correct for next week’s Newsnight before next week.

@meherenow - sorry - I was wrong. The wrong time was in the EPG for yesterday.

The correction is from today.

Than you for letting me know.

A warning to check your scheduled recordings this weekend as they probably need to be cancelled or adjusted.

For example Source Code on BBC1 today starts at 23:50 and not 23:00 as in the guide. An extra MOTD is not listed.

Also Her Majesty’s special broadcast at 8PM on the main PSB channels is not reflected in the current guide listings so most programmes afterwards appear to be a few minutes out.

I’m thinking of buying a HomeRun Quattro, but am very nervous about the quality of Plex guide. Are most people happy or is it all doom and gloom?

Not happy. As per my post here: New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

Save yourself the pain & subscribe to Channels DVR. Works great with HD Homeruns.

That’s what I use currently. I review Plex DVR and live tv every so often; still not useable for me.

Like others

Dont bother, there are too many issues with the guide

They do get fixed if people report them, but the same issues keep occuring time and time again

YET MORE FAILS!

Again, The Andrew Marr Show is scheduled from 09:00-10:15 followed by Politics Scotland 10:15-10:45 on BBC1 Scotland HD.

As it has been for the last few weeks.

And yet again your guide is wrong. The entire BBC1 Scotland HD schedule is wrong until 13:00.

Let’s face it - your guide provider is next to useless.

Hopefully more people will read this and take their DVR needs elsewhere before WASTING THEIR MONEY like I have.

Just to note, this is not false information as I was quick to be accused of the other day (although an apology was also quick in coming). This is just another fact regarding the complete unreliability of the guide and therefore the DVR service in general.

Queens speech doesn’t show on Plex guide either. Guide updates everyday during maintenance too. Here’s the channels app compared to Plex. The channels app guide is correct and has the queens address showing on all channels:

Channels vs Plex:

The Live TV & DVR feature itself and it’s integration in the Plex ecosystem is excellent. Sure there are bugs, but these are actively being fixed.

Unfortunately, it’s success depends on the reliability of the guide data, which took a massive nosedive when a change of data provider was forced onto us by Plex last summer. Before then I would have heartily recommended it - it was 99% reliable - but not now. This is evidenced by this thread and others.

Sadly, the data requires continual manual intervention and is slow to take into account last minute changes to the schedules (such as the Queen’s broadcast today). Metadata matching is not always correct, for example last week I recorded Mark Kermode’s Secrets Of Cinema S2 E3, but the metadata had it as S1 E11 (which doesn’t exist), and so I had to login to the server to rename the file for correct matching.

This, despite the best efforts of sa2000 to keep on top of things, which is always much appreciated.

And while all this is going on, Plex send marketing stuff about how awesome their Live TV and DVR feature is and to please try it again, which makes you spit your coffee all over your computer!

Yep that annoyed me too. Presumably it’s not as inaccurate in the USA? Sadly apart from @sa2000’s sterling efforts its been radio silence from Plex centrally re the appalling UK guide quality.

The BBC 1 Scotland data issue up to 13:00 was actually corrected but it appears that the correction came in after the automatic EPG Refresh run by scheduled tasks. A further refresh this morning would have picked up the adjustments. I am having discussions with our development team for improving this automatic process

The other changes relate to schedule adjustments for the Queen’s speech today - these actually did get updated by our provider but this data has not yet been ingested at our end because the whole dataset is not yet fully available.

We already have changes under test for how we ingest this data so that the UK and Europe for example can have new data ingested when other regions may not have their new data available yet.

The guide data for the weekly BBC Radio 6 Gilles Peterson Show on Saturdays at 3pm is currently incorrect. Every week the show is listed in the data as being a repeat from 13/10/19 when in fact it is a new show each week. Could this be corrected please? Thanks.

Hi

I’ve spent days trying to sort out why I cannot get HD channels, thinking that the linux system I’m using was not driving the tuners properly. Tried lots of things with no result.
So decided to go back to basics and look at transmitter frequencies.
The HD channels from Caradon Hill in Cornwall are on channel C22+ which has a frequency of 482.2 MHz. This isn’t in the list you kindly showed. It isn’t covered by C22 which only goes to 482.167. Could you check whether C22+ is in fact covered and, if not, whether you can add it to the list. In TVHeadend I was able to add muxes myself so easily dealt with the changes caused by 5G. Can I do modify the Plex list? Many Thanks.

Just following on from last post, I’m OK to dig into relevant internal database and modify. But which is the right file?

PSB3 frequency C22 with a plus offset and the offsets are 167 KHz

Offsets are +/- 167KHz -

Are you actually saying that tuning at 482,200 KHz would pick up the channel but at 482,167 KHz it does not ?

The ā€œDVB-T/T2 UK (Full frequency range)ā€ does have 482,167 - in fact all frequencies between 474000 and 850000 and for each trying both offsets : -167 and +167

Neighbours still not corrected, didn’t record today.
