New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

Thanks - i can see same issue. Back to our provider

Just to add to the issue. See below for Quest / Quest HD this evening. EFL should be showing. Plex is not correct.

We do have a number of channels with text logos. This has been discussed with our provider. At this moment i have put the priority on being able to distinguish between SD, HD and +1 channels where they are showing the same logo.

I will revisit at some point and do an audit

Just to confirm the Freeview OTA guide also shows it as ā€˜New: EFL on Quest’ @ 21:00.

Thanks - i have just referred this to our provider

Are we ok now with channel 29 - 4Music ?

The Luminaries
BBC ONE @ 9:00PM on 21/06/20

No episode numbers or episode info.

Thank you - i have referred this to our provider
Not everything gets sequenced

Nothing was recorded last night, as I already have the episodes, so I didn’t notice but Friday 26th looks good  Thanks.

Thanks but that isn’t correcting the problems altogether either.

It is probably too late now but I’ve just seen that the episode data for Shaun the Sheep, this morning - 20th June at 07:15 and tomorrow morning - 21st June also at 7:15 don’t have their episode data just dates.

This morning should have been S04E21 and tomorrow is S04E22.

Additionally the episode data for Little Big Awesome is still wrong (stuck possibly from the other day when I first reported it). Monday’s episode should be S01E21 but it is showing in Plex as S01E12.

I did not refer any sequencing issues to our provider for this. The issue that I referred was for schedule errors for wrong programs and some wrong start times.

This was the issue that was referred initially and updated later - the green shaded ones are those that got corrected

I will now highlight the sequencing issues (season / episode numbers)

Thank you - whilst the issues with the Shaun the Sheep episodes are new I did mention the episode data issue with Little Big Awesome here ;-).

Assumed it was as Channel 5 have been advertising it heavily and when I first set it to record with the default ā€œnew airings onlyā€ it showed up in the DVR schedule.

Guess it updated at some point and so didn’t record, have changed it to all showings now…

I’ve noticed today that BBC 4HD and a few others (screenshot) have fallen off the guide completely, not sure how long this has been for but they were there originally. I’ve done a full guide refresh but they haven’t come back. They show fine in the Channels App and HD Homerun’s App.

Also the following channels have been removed from Freeview today.

Edit: forgot to mention, the guide in use is Freeview Central West OTA.

You did mention it on the 16th of June and I missed it.

This has now been referred to our provider

Yes I noticed this and raised as priority issue with our provider. I think an announcement relating to multiplexor changes was misinterpreted

Getting pretty frustrated here. I didn’t use my Kickstarter SD HDHomeRun Connect for a few years because it wasn’t very user friendly, it was easier to use streaming service. When I moved to a new place 4 months ago, I thought that I set it up just for fun and was surprised that how well it seemed to work and started using it instead of streaming content, which is handy since I’m on a 4G link. Everything was working pretty well until about a week ago. Now the Guide won’t download anything, it’s just stuck on 0% and then stops the refresh.

Qnap TS-451 with PMS 1.16.6 (latest)
AppleTV 4K with the latest iOS & Plex client
SD HDHomeRun Connect FW 20200521
TP-Link Archer MR200 FW latest
Amplifi HD 3.4.1

Steps taken so far:

  • Reboot Qnap
  • Reboot HDHomeRun
  • Reboot Router
  • Restart PMS
  • Reinstall DVR multiple times
  • Scanned channels multiple times
  • Refresh the Guide multiple times

Everything usually goes well. The channels are found. Post code fails often but usually eventually finds the right mappings but then the DVR installation gets to the Guide download. It sometimes finishes it, but fails with errors like ā€œfailed to parse the fileā€, but usually gets to 100% downloading the guide, but nothing shows up in the guide, it just says ā€œThe Guide Is Empty, Please verify your channel mappings and refresh the Guideā€.

I’m pretty pssed off and frustrated about this whole thing especially since I just paid for Plex Pass for another year when I don’t really use the pass for anything else except for the Guide.

(If you wonder why I paid for the Plex Pass in the past, it was for the option to download videos to phone, until I realised it much faster and easier to use Subler to wrap MKVs with a mp4 wrapper and airdrop them to iPhone. Got my shows in the phone in couple of minutes rather than wait for the Plex to convert them or even just download them. )

I have much the same kit, but use XML.

About 2 weeks ago, I had problems with my DVR and had to delete and remake it after which it was fine again.

I did not have to change any of my recordings etc so it was fairly painless. Do you want to try that also?

[edit]: I just checked and I am on PMS 1.19.4. Are you sure you are on latest for your -451? …I am actually on a -453 but, as I write, much the same.

I have a weird feeling that PMS v1.16 used the ā€œoldā€ (but sadly better) Plex EPG which would put it at being released about 1 year ago.

Agree re out of date version. I’m using a QNAP 451+ too and I’m on version 1.19.4.2935 of PMS. I have to install updates manually though, never seem to be offered them via the package manager. Don’t want to risk breaking Plex or losing all my settings by reinstalling via the manager so just keep doing manual updates myself.

You are probably on the ā€œThreeā€ network. Loads of users fail to download lineups and get connections to https://epg.provider.plex.tv

search the forums for ā€œThreeā€ and ā€œepgā€ and you will see loads of posts
