New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

I’m on Qnap FW 4.4.2.1320 which was updated couple of weeks ago IRCC.

Which XML setup you have, I did a quick try with one and the channels barely mapped. If you have one to recommend, I’d love to hear.

Yes, sorry, I just checked the version from Qnap’s App folder, and even though I update the PMS manually it seems to show the old version. I’m actually on PMS 1.19.4.2935.

That would make sense. I’m on Three and even though I use a normal SIM, I’ve set the APN to use the Mobile Broadband one to avoid GNAT on normal Three APN. I’ll do a search.

Luckily we’re moving hopefully soon so we can get a fixed broadband. It’s just a bit strange since the EPG worked just fine for awhile.

I think something is really wrong with the guide today. All of my channel mappings have fallen off. So I deleted the DVR and tried to set it up again. However I can’t get past the guide set up now. Each postcode I enter doesn’t allow me to continue. The button is greyed out, however hitting enter submits the form but then the next screen gets stuck on 0% - looking for the guide in your area.

Forgot to add, channels and HDHomrun apps are fine, so it’s not a tuner issue but the plex guide.

I have the same. Check the answers to my initial post. Maybe that’ll help to figure out the issue. Mine is Three’s 4G.

Thanks for that, however it appears to be an outage this time. https://status.plex.tv

Is it a year now since the switch? Not one apology, no admission of failure. It’s just pitiful. And yes, I know that there won’t be a comment from Plex on this post, comments like this are completely ignored. Obviously an agreed company strategy, grit your teeth and soldier on. Never seen anywhere else where that approach would remain for quite so long.

I was just about to post to say Neighbours seems to be finally sorted, and then I caught up with the mess that is Thursday and Friday’s recordings. I actually started watching them back to front at first due to the dates until I realised what had happened. We’re back to generic titles, the dates are shot to pieces again, for some reason it’s still using a random photo for characters that have never been in the show and we’re once again back to generic descriptions. @sa2000 I know you’ve raised this programme multiple times with the listings provider, what are they playing at?

Actual dates should 25/6/20 and 26/6/20 - generic info for one but not the other

The Gadget Show on Channel 5 is showing as “S31.E4 - Episode 2”. So the episode is correct, but the description should also be Episode 4.

I have just had to go through and change previous recordings as for some reason the recordings started at S31E02 and were all out by 1. Thankfully it didn’t stop any episodes from being recorded (so far).

Same issue as last weekend. EFL on quest is accurate on Freeview guide and also within HDHR guide but Plex doesn’t agree. So frustrating. I’ve used Plex for 4 months now and am a big advocate but a few little niggle stop it going from good to great.

It seems there are some large chunks of TBA on 5 (Channel 005), 5 + 1 (Channel 044) and 5 HD (Channel 105) today:

I appreciate this is not going to get sorted for today but I wanted to flag it in case there is problem somewhere.

Seems to be a recurrent issue with Channel 5 family of channels - @sa2000 can you please get your provider to try and sort this out?

I’m not sure if this has been asked before…

Would it be possible for Plex to read the guide from freeview? This info seems to be correct, is updated frequently and I suspect there is an api to retrieve the data. I assume all the commercial PVRs use this. This could offer a much better solution for UK users.

I can see that 3 airings on channel 5 slipped through and did not get correctly marked as 25th June and 26th June episodes

Channel 5
25 June 17:30 BST
26 June 13:45 BST
26 June 17:30 BST

and the 5+1 and 105 HD channels

Similarly on channel 30 - 5Star
25 June 18:00 BST
26 June 15:00 BST
26 June 18:00 BST

I will flag it to our provider

At this moment after today’s data ingestion and an EPG refresh now, channel 5 appears ok for Neighbours. There are a few still to be corrected on channel 30 5Star but they are far off - 6 July and later

Our provider has a manual process and it appears that sometimes the adjustments do not get done in time or get missed

I will flag both sets to our provider

Thanks. The airings did record OK (lunchtime each day last week), it was just the way they kept switching the dates and putting generic info that was the problem this time.

I have flagged these to our provider. Appears about 2 hours or more a day

Thank you.

@sa2000 - It seems that the data for Talking Pictures TV is not in the schedule after Thursday, just seeing “Talking Pictures TV Programming” in the guide.

Could you assist again please?

Would you explain the process of fetching the epg data and what’s the reason it’s not working on Three? I can reach the url on my browser, but obviously it’s not working with Plex.

I have referred it to our provider. It has been seen that some channels go down to 5 or 4 days before it is replenished. I would normally hit the panic button when reaching 4 days - but I have referred this now to our provider. It was not just “Talking Pictures” - other channels as well
