New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

But CCX TV isn’t a shopping channel. To quote the blurb from Freeview:

“There’s a bold and beautiful new home for classic entertainment on Freeview. Between 0700 and 2200, CCX TV brings a mix of timeless comedy, original and classic drama, award-winning documentaries and brand-new content to the UK.”

Are there any plans to have guide data for this channel?

It has been escalated

Thank you - what I meant is that when i escalated the issue of having generic data in the EPG I excluded channels that never had any EPG data (as well as shopping channels) to concentrate the mind on the regression that happened

I will put a request for CCX TV

Serious question - how does this happen? Are there no basic quality checks carried out? If no one had said anything, would this have just drifted on?

Cool - thank you

I do not know how this arose.

I would have picked up in my daily checks for UK data as a number of channels were impacted and it was not just a few hours loss

Hi, Just to add my 2p worth.

I’m in the North West - Granada region , using a HDHomeRun Quattro.

Since the beginning of the week, perhaps over the weekend, I have not had any guide data all.

I’ve tried to delete and add the HDHomeRun every day since, on at aleast 2-3 times during the day. I haven’t been able to able to successful do this.

Its sees my tuner, and my channels, I can scan my channels, then it comes to my Postcode, 8 times out of 10, it does not recognise my postcode and fails. sometimes, I can sometimes get to the next bit and select region and channels correctly, ie Freeview OTA Granada and match the channels, then I hit finished, it never actually loads any channel data!

Any help would be appreciated!

The only times I have seen this is for users with broadband provided by the Three ISP

Thanks for the fast response!

Yes, I switched to Mobile broadband recently!? Is there something that I can do to mitigate the lack of program data?

you need to talk to someone technical at Three and ask them why the requests to https://epg.provider.plex.tv time out - they should be going to cloudflare IP addresses

They should do a traceroute and investigate where the issue is

There are several forum threads / posts with same issue

examples:

Thanks @sa2000 - I just did a fresh tuner scan and now all channels show programme details as expected.

Programme details are now showing but I’ve seen a few issues:

The details for Formula 1 have changed again, but it looks like it will record both Qualifying and the Race this weekend.

I’m recording Test Match Highlights each evening on BBC 2, but Sat and Sun are now showing the wrong episode information. Should be Highlights of the day, not a repeat of Eng v West Indies from 1984.

One Day: Sport’s Super Sunday on BBC 2 on Sun at 20:30 should be a New episode.

I have no data from Saturday onwards for ITV just the xxxx Network Programming. The schedule for BBC1, BBC2 and Channel4 is hit and miss. Some details but frequently xxx Network Programming.

I have tried a manual refresh but to no avail.

I do not see any TBAs or Generic program info for the main channels (BBC / ITV / Channel 4 / Channel 5) for next 5 days - could you run another refresh and see if they go away

If not, please get the server logs for me and a zipped copy of the EPG database and lineup name used (the regional OTA lineup for your post code)

and for the database directory - see this support article

and the EPG database is in 3 files - all having filenames starting with
tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud
Please copy out these 3 files and zip the copy and include with the logs zip

@sa2000 - I have just done another manual refresh and the guide has been populated correctly. I had tried a few times this week thinking it would be fixed and only raised the issue as it had almost arrived at the present day.

Thanks again for your help.

Geoff

It was fixed in today’s ingestion which completed about 11am and then there is cloudflare cache to expire - an EPG refresh after this would pick the updated data

Yet still, this is nowhere NEAR good enough.

NOWHERE.

One day before transmission and we can’t see any details for scheduled programmes.

If it was bordering on useless before, I am pretty much lost for words now.

Is there a problem now for tomorrow’s airings ? Please let me know

I saw there was a problem on Film 4 (Channel 014) when the times and showing length for Escape Plan and Sinister 2 didn’t look right. The latter was only 60 minutes long ending around 02:00 followed by “Film 4 Programming”.

I popped by to report it only to find there was quite a big outage of data - 6 hours before hand - for me at least!

Anyway there are further issues… So after a refresh both the showings of the above movies have disappeared and been replaced by an extra showing of War for the Planet of the Apes and Juan of the Dead.

Checking Freeview tells me that the showing of Sinister 2 was rouge and is in fact Juan of the Dead is correct. However, Escape Plan should be where the second showing of War for the Planet of the Apes is.

Plex - The highlighted showing is correct but what is to the right is not:

Freeview:

After a year of pain, for both us the users and for @sa2000 (The master of Whack-a-Mole), how can things still be this bad?

Is there a plan to sort all of the problems out?

If not is there a back up plan to mitigate the problems automatically, so if users do not spot problems, they still get fixed?

The merging of the over-the-air data springs to mind for example - I know some regions don’t have this but I believe, from what has been discussed on these forums, the UK does - better than what I remember from my Windows Media Center days as well

It seems that Horror Channel (Channel 070) still has an issue as well:

Edit…

As do: Drama (Channel 020), DMAX (Channel 037), CBS Justics (Channel 039) and CBS Drama (Channel 067).

Edit 2…

And… Really (Channel 017).
