I know it’s not a fix, however I personally gave up on Plex DVR some time ago (not just because the guide is so poor, but also because the Android app is inadequate as well) and now receive EPG via a separate application called EPG Collector. You might want to give it a try - in the meantime, I take my hat off to you guys continuing to report all of the problems. Perhaps it will get sorted one day!
If I had more time on my hands I’d start reporting every little EPG infraction to highlight what a wonderful paid for service it is, however (un)fortunately I am able to work from home so am usually quite busy - but I am able to watch telly over my shoulder or in the corner of my other computer screen so it’s easy to highlight all the things that go wrong on the main channels (when they don’t record), never mind the other Freeview ones.
In the meantime I can continue to call out the DVR service for what it is…
USELESS!
and, for the avoidance of doubt…

Just did a full refresh and Channel 4 still lacks schedule data from 6AM Saturday onwards. It’s filled with massive “Close” and “Channel 4 Programming” blocks from that point onwards.
This really isn’t good enough, how can the provider be so consistently unable to provide even basic scheduling data for major channels for more than 5 days at a time? It’s a paid service and it’s below the service level of basic free TV listings right now. Either they are inadequate for the task or their source is not the channels as suggested. I’ve worked with EPG schedule data. Channels like Channel 4 are able (and required by some platform holders) to supply complete schedule data for 7-10 days at all times. This data has all the hallmarks of someone working Monday to Friday manually transcribing schedule data from other sources.
How did the deal for this data not include requirements for it to meet basic standards of quality? How can Plex be irreparably wedded to this deal regardless of how poor the service is? That’s just bad business & passing that pain on to Plex’s customers is a really unfortunate choice.
Totally agree - @sa2000 is making a sterling effort, but the core data is just pitiful and really not acceptable from the listings provider. @elan we’ve been putting up with this for far too long now, as can be seen from almost 1,500 posts in this thread. What are Plex doing to actually fix this issue rather than just keep applying a sticking plaster to a major haemorrhage?!
Yeah - same for me; and most of the ITV channels are also showing “Teleshopping” from SAT onwards. I thought an earlier guide refresh brought the IVT detail back but now I’m not so sure anymore …
I am continuously flagging reduced # of days to our provider and yes channel 4 is down to just 5 full days of data. The data gets replenished weekly and there appear to be delays
For those of us, who have made a jump from Plex EPG after getting tired of these isssues, to XMLTV - is anyone actually planning to make library agents/scanners to actually RETAIN the XMLTV data in the libraries ???
For those who are tired of Plex RPG, life is short - invest one afternoon and explore XMLTV options with WebGrab++ ( its Windows app but runs fine on Liunx under mono).
Once set, it works for months and months without any issues… and if you feel like tinkering, you can get crazy good EPG with Webgrab++ post processing etc …
Celebrity Gogglebox at 9pm on Friday on Channel 4 is showing the wrong episode number and therefore not recording for me as I’ve got it to record new episodes only and this isn’t marked as new.
and I just checked what it showed on Saturday and it was the same - 00:10 am
start
and i even went back to the EPG snapshot from a refresh on the 10th July and that too had 00:10 am start which agrees with what channel 4 are saying as the start time
I am ok with real complaints that I can follow up but this does not look wrong to me
