New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

We appreciate your efforts, but the reality is it shouldn’t be necessary for such fundamental issues to be raised so frequently and consistently. Mistakes happen, but these are regular occurrences and fundamental - even a cursory glance from the provider over their data ought to be sufficient to realise that 24hours of programming on a channel being absent well within the 7-day minimum is a problem. It shouldn’t ever be in that state & if it is it should be fixed by them much faster.

I don’t understand why Plex, who are presumably paying for this data, aren’t as upset as we are that this paid service is not meeting minimum quality standards to be considered “adequate”. Plex Pass subscribers are not contributors to a voluntary Open Source project, we’re paying customers. Plex itself is a business and it is a (I hope, though am increasingly sceptical) paying customer of the data provider, on both ends this is requiring far more manual intervention than any paid EPG data service should. As others have said, the silence from @elan and Plex over what is going to be done about this is troubling. This is just whack-a-mole right now. That’s not going to result in a long term improvement to the quality of the data, which is what is actually needed.

Case in point, that Channel 4 problem with missing listings has been corrected now, following a Full Guide Refresh. But…It’s still the same on Channel 4 HD.

Again, I did a Full Guide Refresh before this. It fixed the SD channel, but HD still has missing listings. There are now just same day plus three days listings for Channel 4 HD. Channel 4 SD still only has complete listings data through about 06:30AM Monday, so that’s only slightly better at just same day plus five days. Better than Channel 4 HD, but still wholly inadequate.

And what about Channel 4 this Friday at 9pm showing the wrong episode and therefore not the “New” tag so it therefore isn’t recording?

We’re looking for a long-term improvement to the quality of the data, current situation doesn’t make us happy.

Yes that is in my screenshot and showing shaded orange for the Season/Episode and for the New flag - indicating that I have acknowledged they are wrong and I have already referred the issue to our provider.

@sa2000 Channel 070 - Horror Channel data is missing (already reported a day ago by @captain_caveman2k above).

Any assistance would be appreciated.

There are many channels showing this issue. Latest I have is that ITV channels have been addressed and I saw 9 days + (with exception of CITV) when i checked yesterday

I will feedback that Horror channel has missing data

I reported this on Friday last week and followed it up yesterday. None of my posts from Friday, Saturday or yesterday have received a response yet - am I wasting my time?

Sorry - of course you are not wasting your time. But the way i dealt with the posts is looking at most recent first and going backwards, as the most recent ones have higher chance of being fixed before the airing time. I will catch up today

Thank you for the response, glad to hear it’s being actively addressed. I know there are limits to what can be said due to commercial sensitivities, but anything you can do to keep us apprised of progress will be greatly appreciated :+1:t2:

@sa2000, it looks like they’ve scheduled the F1 Qualifying and Race Highlights as the same episode again, my DVR is only picking up the first event. This is from Channel 4 SD, but the HD Channel has the same issue now the listings are there:

Thanks again for your firefighting efforts here.

Thanks for reporting this. I have passed this on to our provider.

Channel 4 appear to have now combined the two events into one one longer event.

Thanks - i can see it is also wrong for 19th July airing of S1 E18
I have referred this to our provider

Something has gone very wrong with channel 5 and channel 5 HD in the UK from Monday onwards. Are you able to take a look?

Thank you…

There is also a problem with the new airing of The Good Place S3 E2 tomorrow on E4 (Channel 013) at 22:00 - it is showing as S3 E1 in Plex, which was shown last week:

The Good Place - Plex

Freeview:

The Good Place - Freeview

Taskmaster on Dave (Channel 019) next week is missing episode data. For example:

It seems to be affecting the following airings:

Taskmaster - Missing Episode Data

I have referred this to our provider.

But you are in luck this time as the repeat at 03:20 am is actually of the same episode but with the right episode number and title - if you are looking for “New” only thought it would not get picked up

That is normal for the way sequencing is done. It would only be an issue if any of the episodes for next week do not get sequenced in time.

Provider appears to sequence one week at a time - so as long as it is done before airing time, then it is not an issue and is the way their process is setup

I can see that the schedule in the EPG is not what channel 5 has showing here for Monday 20th July No access outside UK

I have referred this to our provider

This specific error should have got resolved

We do, however, have a few gaps in the 104 - Channel 4 HDTV schedule on the 19th July 03:05 am BST to 04:00 am BST and 05:50 am BST to 06:25 am BST
There are also gaps on the 22nd July. These are ingestion issues at our end that we will look into

Thanks.

Went to watch Peston last night before bed - never recorded, even though series link showed up as usual.

Looks like it wasn’t marked as “new” - STV HD. Managed to start recording it on STV+1 in SD (which is only possible by some voodoo of deleting the existing linked recording (because Plex thinks I don’t need to record it) and then manually recording the one episode - why is there no way to FORCE a record manually?)), but once again, so far from anywhere near good enough.

Seeing what has been reported over the last week by a small batch of users highlights more than ever that the service is not fit for purpose by a long shot.

Now I’ll try to watch some of the documentaries I’ve recorded that Plex insists are “TV Films” all called “Season 20xx” instead of just normal “Recordings”- another major annoyance.
