I got home from work about 45 minutes ago I have performed another refresh. There are now some very strange issues with the guide on Dave and Dave Ja Vu:
The two showings tonight of “Taskmaster”, “Would I Lie to You?”, “Have I Got a Bit More News for You” and “Mock the Week” have a) duplicate episode data and b) the same start times.
I have highlighted the second showing of “Mock the Week” and “Taskmaster” in the above images but the guide shows:
Mock the Week - S11 E3: 22:00 to 22:40
Mock the Week - S11 E4: 22:40 to 23:00
Mock the Week - S11 E4: 22:40 to 23:20
Taskmaster - S5 E1: 23:20 to 23:40
Taskmaster - S5 E1: 23:20 to 00:20
Would I Lie to You? - S7 E4: 01:00 to 01:20
Would I Lie to You? - S7 E4: 01:00 to 01:40
Have I Got a Bit More News for You - S54 E8: 01:40 to 02:00
Have I Got a Bit More News for You - S54 E8: 01:40 to 02:35
Looking at the Freeview Guide, entries 2, 4, 6 and 8 should not be there - the others are correct.
I am also seeing sporadic “To Be Announced”, “Unknown Airing” and “Channel xxx Programming” issues for:
4 Music - 4 Music Programming
Quest - “To Be Announced”
Ideal World - “To Be Announced”
CCX TV - “To Be Announced” (Known issue that I raised the other day)
DMax - “To Be Announced”
Hock - Long “To Be Announced” in Plex for Windows but multiple “Unknown Airings” in the Tizen and XBox Preview Apps
I also see from the Freeview website that Merit (Channel 034) is present, has a channel logo and data at limited times. I don’t know anything about the channel but will data be appearing in Plex for this channel?
From the first capture it looks like the data for “Aussie Gold Hunters” and “Wheeler Dealers” is missing but upon scrolling right the data is revealed.
However, CCX TV, DMax, Hock and Quest +1 don’t appear to be related to this.
May be page not refreshing data. There is no TBA on Quest for today after an EPG refresh today. The ingestion of our provider data completed and cache would have cleared by 1pm today UK time - so an EPG refresh would pick the current data. If I look at the snapshot of the EPG data based on yesterday’s ingestion, it is same
When did your EPG last refresh ? Do you have logs that show last night scheduled refresh ? That would have picked yesterday’s ingested data
I think it was an application oddity as I have now restarted Plex for Windows on my Plex Server and am now seeing data for Quest, Quest +1, DMax and Ideal World - I’ve only checked the next 48 hours but I can’t see anything wrong at the moment…
I do tend to leave the application running for days on end, so maybe a memory or resource issue - although the machine is a Dell R7910 rack mounted workstation with 128GB of RAM and 2 x Intel 10 core CPUs so I would have hoped it wouldn’t be that
I kicked off the refresh about 21:45 last night just after I got home.
Aha! wouldnt believe how many times I rebuilt my Pi with Sony TVHat and got stuck each time - all along it was flipping ISP!.. Hum: any thoughts on how to mitigate (with an alternative manual xmltv url perhaps)?
and thank you! cant believe it was three all along…
Appear to be ok now. We had a delay in ingestion of new data but we caught up today - with today’s ingestion becoming available about 1pm today - so an EPG refresh after that would be up to date
Unknown Airing gets displayed if there are gaps or overlaps in the schedule. I cannot see any gaps at the moment - following a refresh after 1pm today
The long “To Be Announced” or generic program would be expected at the tail end of the guide for the channel - at the moment the first for this channel being 25 August 1am
For the others - the status after a refresh today (after 1pm) shows
4 Music - 4 Music Programming - the earliest generic entry is 26 August
Quest - “To Be Announced” - there are 3 airings with TBAs - i will follow this up
Ideal World - “To Be Announced” - earliest is 26 August
CCX TV - “To Be Announced” - I raised this recently and data is now appearing. Earliest TBA is 26 August
DMax - “To Be Announced” - earliest is 30 August
So I will raise the issue with the 3 TBAs for Quest. It is probably late arrival of data from the station
multiple programs on multiple channels record with the airing date and not the season and episode number. this has been an issue for years now and wondering if it will be fixed soon or if their is another way i can get guide info i regularly dump 100’s of gigs of duplicate recordings from this every few months and puts unnecessary load and blocks potential recordings.
Not all TV shows get sequenced - some would just have date sequencing
We can ask for specific shows to get sequenced if they are not at the moment.
Issues may arise on +1 and HD & SD channels where a show is specified in the EPG at the show level with no episodic information - for these we do not currently have a solution and the +1, HD and SD airings may appear as different and end up with multiple recordings.
Again if there are specific shows of interest on specific channels where this is happening, we can ask for them to be sequenced. The other option for these is to disable the SD and +1 channels until there is a fix in place.
allo allo, hairy bikers all of the variants, red dwarf, 8 out of 10 cats, 8 out of 10 cats do countdown, how its made, drive ins diners and dives, man vs food, Wheeler dealers, i can go on. ill try disabling the plus 1’s and sd channels.
i have looked at the scheduling it would seem some of them i guess were the +1 hd issue like how its made and red dwarf but most of the others say the airing date of today tomorrow ect when they have seasons and were made years ago. like man vs food and dinners drive ins and dives. ill get you a full list if you would like.
(DVR) Server would display incorrect times under “Limit Airing Times To” advance recording option (#11362)
N.B. Downgrading from this release may result in DVR recordings with an airing time restriction failing.
So if ever downgrading from this beta release, any DVR schedules created with “Limit to Airing Time” would need to be deleted and recreated.
(Note: there is still a Plex Web display bug relating to use of “Limit of Airing Time” where there may be occasions when the “DVR Schedule” and “Recording Priority” show the wrong times - this does not affect the actual scheduling that Plex Media Server is using and is just a Plex Web display bug that will get fixed)
Thought I’d try the Plex UK TV guide to see if it had improved over the last year.
I only have the 8 primary HD channels enabled so was hopeful, but it’s still missing 90% of the data that is in the OTA stream with generic programme information rather than episode information for vast amounts of the content.
I’m running Plex on Qnap and the way I’ve been getting round this is to run EPG Collector on a Windows machine and save the xmltv to a share. Does anyone know of an OTA collector that will run directly on Qnap (or another method) to avoid the multi machines?
Is there any chance Plex will support the quality 7 day OTA data directly from HDHomerun rather than the basic Gracenote data?
Pretty annoying that basic free programs like NextPVR and HDHomerun support this whilst Plex “Premium” doesn’t…
I doubt it very much, their approach is to use a more generic download of data so they can support many countries and platforms.
I’ve written my own DVR software that works on Windows and it is 100% reliable using the OTA data and shows up just how far from reality the Plex data is.
Is it actually doing this or the DVR Schedule in Plex Web is showing this time? We do have a bug in Plex Web where if there are multiple airings, it may display the wrong ones. You can confirm if it is the Plex Web bug by comparing the DVR Schedule with what shows on other clients eg Plex for Android or Plex for iOS
