New Plex Guide Very Poor in UK

This has been the situation for over a year now

Plex dont seem to want to get to the root cause, we just need to keep reporting issues, they then get fixed, then they need reporting again when they next break

Many of us got fed up with having to check recordings all the time to make sure the data hasnt screwed up again to cause the recording to fail

You are on a losing battle if you hope Plex will get to the bottom of things and fix this, getting rid of Gracenote and going with this new provider was one of the worst things Plex has ever done

They don’t want to answer for changing to this ■■■■■ provider, people need to stop paying for plex until they revert back to gracenote.

This was an ingestion issue. I have referred it to our EPG team

There appears to be a mixture of sequenced and unsequenced airings. I have referred this to our provider

‘Unknown Airings’ show if there are gaps in the schedule. I suspect these were caused by ingestion issues similar to that for 4Music, channel 5 and Radio 4 Extra which I mentioned earlier. I am trying to arrange for a full re-ingestion job to run to correct these errors

When is this garbage going to be sorted?

As others have said, can’t record “All Creatures Great and Small” tonight on Channel 5 as it’s listed as “Channel 5 Programming”.

It’s just not good enough BY A LONG MARGIN and I can assure you that I go out of my way to let people know what they’re in for if they buy a Plex Pass intending to use the DVR service!

Somebody asked about it yesterday and it just got ignored!

ARE YOU LOOKING POTENTIAL PLEX CUSTOMERS?!? THIS IS THE LEVEL OF SERVICE YOU CAN EXPECT!

Your provider has more issues than that, that’s for sure.

WHEN ARE YOUR OVERLORDS GOING TO FIX THIS?!?

Agree this is pretty shocking that they still haven’t resolved this - it wasn’t even one of the last minute ‘refresh guide on the day to get it’ situations (which are bad enough). As I’ve said many times @sa2000 I do greatly appreciate the immense amount of time you spend flagging this with the provider but they are clearly incapable of actually fixing the problem and are just fire-fighting. Many of us have paid for lifetime Plex Pass so don’t have the option of cancelling as monthly payers do but surely something needs to happen at a higher level to resolve this? It has been dragging on for well over a year now (this thread started in June 2019) which is surely totally unacceptable to Plex as well as its customers? @elan we tagged you here before and you’ve occasionally responded - the last was 7 months ago and I hope you agree we have all waited for a more than reasonable amount of time as customers for this to be resolved. It’s time for a proper update please - not lots of new features, fixes for existing ones like this.

This is getting silly, I appreciate there is a lot of work needed for EPG data, but it is so essential to DVR service that surely it ought to be the top priority over and above tweaking other features / bug features.

Please, so consistency is all we need. I’m not even asking for accurate descriptions, goodness knows there’s detail missing for dozens of programmes, but at least the name of the show shouldn’t be too difficult.

Please help fix this Plex.

@elan do you actually care? You had a perfectly working and fearure rich dvr then you needed it? Emby guide data is flawless and also a crazy amount faster to download if they can manage it why can’t you? @sa2000 tries but keep manually submitting reports and allowing your user base to grow more and more frustrated isnt ideal, surely? I pay my plex pass monthly as I believe the lifetime memberships are not a good idea and I am happy to continue to pay to support development but let’s be honest, your taking your user base for mugs at this point

And again. The Darkest Hour is on Sunday 9pm Horror Channel.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? new series on ITV starting Monday 7th September is listed as S32 - should be S35.

Regarding All Creatures Great And Small (Channel 5 Tuesdays 9PM)

Not looking good for next week as well as the Channel 5 listing for the whole of the 8th Sept is showing as “Channel 5 Programming”

Whilst tomorrow’s showing of Danger Mouse at 07:20 on CBBC and CBBC HD has the correct episode title it a) doesn’t appear to be sequenced as it shows 4/6/19 rather than S1 E19 and b) has a generic description:

There are also other showings with generic descriptions. For example:

S1 E20: Children’s entertainment.
S2 E46: A rodent secret agent and his hapless hamster sidekick battle a host of villains while using tricked-out gadgetry and vehicles. The series is an update of the same-titled 1980s adventure cartoon.
S2 E47: A rodent secret agent and his hapless hamster sidekick battle a host of villains while using tricked-out gadgetry and vehicles. The series is an update of the same-titled 1980s adventure cartoon.
S1 E21: Children’s entertainment.
S1 E16: A rodent secret agent and his hapless hamster sidekick battle a host of villains while using tricked-out gadgetry and vehicles. The series is an update of the same-titled 1980s adventure cartoon.

Update on 2/9 as of 17:45 (BST):

I have kicked off a couple of guide refreshes today and after the latest, Danger Mouse is now being shown as the original 1981 series rather than the 2015 remake, as you can see below with the incorrect year, no artwork and loss of series-record:

Update on 3/9 as of 11:25 (BST):

Danger Mouse is back to being the 2015 remake

However the generic descriptions as outlined above are still present and the showing on Thu 10 at 14:35 is not sequenced as it shows “4/6/19 - Sinister Mouse” for the episode.

Series recording on radio4xtra hasn’t worked since the change over - screenshot of a show not being recorded and also of the series recording (it is set to new and repeat).

I’ve just brought a HDHR to get Freeview and DVR capability, and just stumbled across this thread.
I thought I was missing something here, as doesn’t DVB-T embed TV guide in the stream itself? I’m struggling to understand why a third party (and all the problems that seem to be indicated here) is needed for such a setup if the data is already there.

Does anyone have a workaround? Some way to grab the data OTA, dump to xml and use that as an external XMLTV guide source (which plex apparently supports based on https://support.plex.tv/articles/using-an-xmltv-guide/)

http://www.xmltv.co.uk/feed/1897 is a 7 day dump but you dont get all the posters and if you have stuff already set to record for some reason it will not see it as the same show.

You can use EPG collector to get the OTA data from HDHR then bring it into Plex as xml.

It works really well and unlike the Plex EPG you get descriptions for all shows and accurate times- I just wish there was a way to link and supplement it with the occasionally useful Plex data.

Just tried to find anything with a description on the HD channels tomorrow-the only show I found which didn’t have no or generic description was the Simpsons.

This is pathetic

I could only find windows builds of EPG collector sadly (as it looked perfect!), but full linux here.

I do hope one day plex sort out the EPG issues with their new supplier. Aside from the EPG plex DVR is awesome!
