im linux as well so i use the xmltv link
Frankie Boyleâs New Word Order airing today on BBC Two is now showing correctly as episode 1 of the new series 4
It seems that overnight 4Music has gained some data - however a lot of it is wrong for today:

In summary the issues appear to be:
- Incorrect programmes (10s Summer Throwback, Top 10 Uk Hotlist: Kiss Edition, JP Saxe: Fresh From Home, The Big Summer Round Up, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch at 12:15 and 13:10, and First Dates Abroad)
- Incorrect times (Malcolm in the Middle at 17:00 and 17:30 should be 18:00 and 18:30, and How I Met Your Mother at 23:50 should be 00:00 tomorrow)
- Incorrect episodes (The Showdown and Malcolm in the Middle)
- Non-sequenced episodes (Donât Tell the Bride)
I have also performed a refresh this morning that finished at 11:20 which is no different.
Neighbours early tomorrow afternoon appears on the guide as having a 2+ hour runtime. Means it will record for the entire period when in reality itâs only 30mins. Who knows what is missing from the guide in its place.
Yep, it did that earlier this week too - missed the start then had a 1h45m runtime.
@sa2000 youâve reported Channel 5 and specifically Neighbours on multiple occasions to the provider now - what on earth are they doing the way they keep breaking it? I really donât see whatâs so difficult for them to keep this sort of thing right.
@elan I would still be keen for your input to this thread as noted above.
The episode descriptions are more than useless as well. Every episode is the same and includes a generic couple of sentences.
LOL yep, normally mentioning Des Clarke from the 1980s!
A common problem with the new provider and recurring series. âPanoramaâ description is also completely useless - it has a different reporter each episode and isnât specifically focused on the the Arab world!
This is now showing as S33 with the last guide refresh, which appears to be correct according to Freeview TV Guide.
Having a flick through VirginMediaâs tv guide, which I assume is also provided by TiVo as their box is made by them, for the most part a lot of the data seems the same, there are clear differences though. Eg. Coronation Street in Plex has a generic strap line which is the same for every episode, whereas in the Virgin guide it is a lot better with a synopsis per episode.
However, surprisingly it also does have a lot of missing show details much like in Plex. eg. for every Neighbours episode it is generic âThe lives, loves and challenges of the residents in Ramsay Street, in Erinsborough, Australia.â Which oddly is a completely different generic message to the Plex TV Guide?
Itâs odd, when I used to have Virgin though I donât remember the guide being as poor as that link above with missing images/show details etc. It was always pretty stellar much like other guides.
My work around was to program my own DVR software which works with the HDHomeRun tuners, it uses the over-the-air guide data so none of the issues of poor data we see in Plex. It also works with accurate recording so early starts and overruns still gets you the whole program. You just set it to drop the recordings into folder that is in the Plex library and play using Plex as usual. Only for a Windows server/PC though. Message me if interested if you want to try it as an alternative.
You could also try NextPVR, should be found with a Google.
I have Virgin Tivo just now and whilst the times are right, the guide data is not as good as Freeview with a lot more generic titles.
I would have stuck with NextPVR but I wanted something that would run reliably on Roku so I have NowTV, etc in the same place- I couldnât find a reliable client for NextPVR.
Live TV and PVR is the main Plex Pass feature and only one Iâm interested in, really hoping they sort the EPG out. Not looking good as over a year has past, SA2000 has to continuously intervene and users seem expected to do the debugging.
Iâve just PMâed you as Iâm getting more and more hacked off with Plexâs data and the amount of effort I put in and would love to try your software ![]()
I would hate to be in sa2000âs shoes and support this mess but I really appreciate the firefighting he does here - although if Plex and Tivo sorted this mess out he wouldnât have to ![]()
I also hate to think of the countless hours we have all put in, over the past 14 months, reporting these issues.
I really hope Plex have a plan to fix it!!
Yes they do:
Glad to see that. I had tweeted Elan and he said an announcement was forthcoming, wasnât expecting it a day later but pleased to see it!
Itâs really appreciated. I trialled Plex earlier in year and spent many months messing about with other software purely due to EPG.
I came back as the rest of the product is solid, but was really worried Iâd wasted my money when I seen how bad EPG was.
Good luck with the dev.
Great news! I look forward to be able to recommend Plex again to others as apart from the EPG data - itâs still an awesome product. @sa2000 deserves a pay rise.
Neighbours wrong again today, @sa2000 - had date of 31/8/20 and was marked as already watched so took a while to find it!
From that announcement - âTransition back âŠâ
