Already done. That’s unfortunately not the issue. I’ve already down voted the english ones and up votes the non language ones about a week ago.
The actual issue (as I see it) is they are tagged as english which is fine and correct for TMDB but the new plex TV scanner is then taking them as the default instead of the non language ones.
I would prefer the default images shown on the episode list match the episode images that come up in Plex if they are sourced from TMDB. This would match the behavior for the Season and Series posters and, unless defaulted by an admin, is based on the votes I believe (but I assume language is considered in those instances).
I do recall some issues with the episode images related to the language settings - I think that was mentioned - so maybe something needs additional tweaks? The default episode cards listed on TMDB used to be the default for Plex episode title cards in the new scanner - that is no longer the case.
Default episode images according to TMDB:
The title cards I get in Plex if I refresh are the English specific ones @anon5074910 posted.
I’m also not entirely sure how the “better resolution” rules work but I thought that was still reflected in the defaults shown on that list above.
Recently had to refresh my entire TV library and remembered to go “fix” the Korra episodes. Interestingly, only the first season pulled the “English” cards we’re discussing here.
Also, they are the 2nd listing, not the first listing when picking the card manually… just thought that was interesting.
I manually switched to the first title card. No biggie - but though it might be relevant to this thread. I don’t know if order of poster art is relevant but typically I see the first selection in the list as the default selection in most situations.
I don’t want this, I want the generic thumbs like the previous agent scraped. This is an unwanted change in the new TV agent.
The only way to fix is to manually edit each episode in plex and select the thumb I want. This is not desirable.
Using S01E01 as an example, plex gets the image from https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/73107-barry/season/1/episode/1/images/backdrops?image_language=en by default but I’d rather have it from https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/73107-barry/season/1/episode/1/images/backdrops?image_language=xx.
To maybe help describe this additionally to support Dokuro’s details … most artwork in Plex pulls the primary\default image from TMDB (so far this seems to line up).
So, for Barry Season 01 episodes … here’s the default images from TMDB:
Those are the images expected to be pulled into Plex by Dokuro and me.
I think the new agent isn’t pulling the default\primary (whatever word you want to use) and is now pulling language specific episode thumbnails which will have text instead of the default textless images and that’s not the expected behavior. It probably didn’t matter much in the past as title cards weren’t common but they’ve been trending a bit more in the media center creative areas these days.
TL;DR: Plex agent is pulling language specific title cards instead of the textless episode thumbs.
This could actually be an opportunity for Plex … set an option on TV Library to pull Title Cards instead of default thumbs. Users could set a “Use Language Specific Title Cards for Episode Images When Available” checkbox to leverage this language setting option.
