Well… Of course I jumped the gun on this install and then trying to roll back and deleted my database… Ok… no biggie… I have a backup process in place. However, on the new version, when I go to try to change the Plex database/Data location it just sits there. I have reset everything for the app, and installed the new version. I set up the server and go in there and it says its running but when I click on it, its showing off. Then I start it up and make sure I can get to my shared folders (to know the server is running) and go back in there and try to set it up on User accessible share, and it just sits there… going on 30 min. Thoughts?
Note: It goes right to Please be Patient… like its trying to move data but I haven’t gotten to the screen to even select where I want it to go. Almost like that screen is missing or something.
Dear Mr. Plex - I found this forum thread while searching for release notes for the version upgrade I was being prompted to make. (Media server on Linux). What would be useful would be, when prompting to update, to include a link to the release notes that describe any CVEs, known issues, as well as new capabilities, etc so that we can evaluate if an update is warranted.
To those having issues - is it Shield only or other platforms as well?
I have tried restarting a few times but still no option to select where to move the location to. It goes to “Please be Patient” screen instead of the location selection screen first.
Clearly still in the same boat… I went back to 7.23 (Public release on the client) and then the lastest server. Cleared all cache/data on both apps and rebooted… Set up the server and this time it was at least on when I checked it the first time and had a good feeling, but now still just sitting on the Please be Patient window. From my tests on my 16GB, this should come up almost right away. At this point there is no moving of the database until you select something. Because this is a brand new database it has to be super small and this process should take like 10 seconds at the most.
Note: I am on a 2017 PRO (500GB SSD)
Update #2 I just did this with my 16GB and on the last version 1972 (whatever it was) comes up in like 1 second. I then installed the latest version and now it’s hanging on that screen just like my Pro. Still seems to be an issue with this build.
Update #3. I was able to go back to 1973 using Nvidia Shield TV Utility App (Just a front end of ADB). I uninstalled the latest version and the download the APK and installed it. When I go into Storage location it comes up right away. Didn’t seem like it messed up anything with the play store as I now have an update. I did this on my test machine but going to do it on my Pro now and get that 55GB backup going.
Not an expert but I ended up with multiple servers IDs because I rolled back the updates and started over on the Shield. Ended up having to use a browser to log into my plex account and close out all the servers but the last one I installed one, Then things slowly began to get back to normal.

I have also done the update and lost the database by uninstalling the update. Is there any way of getting this back? Not happy customer as this should’ve been TESTED before release.
If you did not copy out both database/metadata… I am afraid it is gone… This goes back to my whole, ADD a backup/restore button and pump out some ZIP files for us to backup our data.
this happened to me as well. I had to log into my account on a browser and get my account associated with the correct server, the one that was associated with my Plex app, in the settings.
The Metadata folder (IF you have moved it to User Accessible Storage) is located here: \internal\Android\data\com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb\Plex Media Server
