left hand side is there more than one server listed?
Thanks for the answer
I found only Cache folder…
\internal\Android\data\com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb\cache
no other folder…
So my question is: is this the folder to backup metadata?
Thanks
Does the new update – v1.18.2.2021 – fix the hardware acceleration issues that were plaguing v1.18.1.1973?
What changed with this release?
You will only see that folder if you moved your storage area to user accessible storage… otherwise it will be hidden and encrypted.
Ok thanks a lot for the answer.
Probably it’s possible to access the folder in /system with root privileges…
But I second your proposal:
Developers, please let the users be able to backup Plex Server Database (metadata, info etc…) on USB device!!!
It broke my plex on the shield 2015 as well today after the update, after trying a couple things to get it going I did a factory reset on the shield and reinstalled from scratch planning to restore the database backup from yesterday but on this new version it’s broken the ability to move storage locations now, it just spins saying “please be patient” and after 30 mins I back out and check and the Plex service has stopped. I can reproduce it over and over.
Can you add this to the list of bugs for this version? I won’t be able to restore my plex until I move Plex to the SD card again
Yea, this sucks… I went back a version and the restore is happening now.
So I take it I should wait with installing the QPKG which popped up in my server today and is still 1.18.1.2019 (mind you I still could download it via the link in the server)? When going to https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server I only find 1.18.2.2015 so I take it the QPKG for .2021 is still being built? Do you have an ETA for it?
Same here… with 1.18.1.2021.
Unable to move storage locations, blocked on “please be patient” screen since yesterday night.
My PLEX is broken now and i cannot use it anymore. Please an update for this!
Thank you!
im on 1.18.2.2021 and cannot now write to attached storage. plex is running and i can play movies etc but cannot add anymore. cannot write to storage using file managers as well ( ive tried mix and fs explorer ) . restarts do not have any effects. im off to a wedding as of later tonight and won’t be back for a week so if anyone else is getting this can they corroborate. Plex server running on nvidea shield. ( 8.0.1 (32.5.205.75) thx
Well this sucks all the way around… However, due to my steps here: Backup Procedure I was able to restore my backup of 55GB of Metadata and database. After the reboot, I was able to see everything and I think I am back to normal.
In this case, I had to sideload version 1.18.1.1973 so I could get back to changing my internal storage so I could restore in a user accessible storage location.
I am no longer in any Beta (for the time being) and am really going to check the forums/reddit before I upgrade again.
I am hoping the plex team will come up for a quick fix and then really think about implementing some sort of easy backup for users.
That’s good to remove from Beta if you don’t want test builds - but the issue here is it wasn’t a test build.
It was a public release that went straight out with the issue (not a prior beta).
Plex resolved the issue within 2 and half hours but a very small minority had already attempted a drastic measure to try and resolve by uninstalling and reinstalling an older version, losing their database.
Hi all - another day, another update.

^ This build should resolve the infinite spinner when trying to select a device to migrate storage to. Let us know how you get on.
All being well, I hope to release it tomorrow.
Thanks for the quick response on this one.
My Windows 10 PC still cannot see my Shields USB drive.
Don’t know if this applies due to the changes being made and this could still be an issue… but try just going into your shield and going under storage and going into Share this drive option. I know it’s checked but I have seen where I have to go into there and just have it show the user/name password and then it works… I then just cancel out of that window and I am good to go (until probably the next reboot)
Tried it so many times now. No luck.
So, are you saying that if Plex is storing the server metadata on an attached USB storage, it would say “Storage Location: internal (user)?” My USB drive shows up in storage, but it’s a little difficult to know if the server metadata is being stored there.
I just installed 1.18.2.2027 on my 16GB test Nvidia shield and was able to see my internal storage on that shield… This was an upgrade from 1973… which could change some things because this issue seems to stem from that public release.
